It’s a very clean and decent looking bakery. Actually the first time I had Schneeballen was here. Schneeballen is all over Rothenburg. It is a ball of a pastry and it’s somewhere between crispy on the outside and baked on the inside. Closes description I can give is the texture of a pretzel but not exactly. It’s fried and sweet. Backerei Striffler has an assortment of confections beside Schneeballen. And a few are packed in a few nice boxes. I thought the Schneeballen was decent but a little on the hard side. The coffee was okay. The seating is old world wood table and chairs. It gave that feel of why all these tourist come to Rothenburg. Matter of fact the entire décor had that modern yet old world bakery design. But, minus the television hanging over head displaying how the Schneeballens are made. I managed to take some pictures when the younger lady was behind the counter and she was okay, not friendly but not rude either. Then an older, taller lady came out and said«no more pictures», she points to the tables and we sit, talk and we are served. We managed to talk with her a little while we were leaving and she turned out to be okay, less stern when initially she said«no pictures», she told us a bit about the town and her bakery. As for this bakery, it is better for it’s presentation than what it offers.

After an unpleasant experience at the butcher shop nearby, we walked into this bakery. The girl at the counter was very friendly and the pastries in the display looked promising so we bought a couple of them for breakfast the next morning. We purchased an apple strudel, an apricot pastry, and a pretzel. The prices were fairly reasonable but unfortunately the pastries were underwhelming. I would probably rank them as 1. apple strudel 2. pretzel 3. apricot pastry.
