Single Origin is one of my favourite coffee roasters, and I love when a café uses their beans. Even better, the Single Origin Mothership is just down the road from me. I keep meaning to try their cold drip and pour over but each time I go I just can’t say no to my usual double shot flat white. The cups they use are really interesting, like little pots without handles, good for keeping your hands warm. Unsurprisingly, the café and the baristas are very hipster. I’m really not a huge fan of the trend of stools instead of chairs. It discourages me from hanging out any longer than it takes to drink my coffee. Not that Single Origin is the only café following that trend. There’s a big communal table at the back if you can’t get a seat at one of the small tables on the deck. If you’re up the back you can peek through into the roastery which is pretty cool. The food menu is limited but the poached eggs were perfect and the two dishes we tried were tasty. The banana bread with espresso butter is also delicious. But they often run out of that and the muffins quite early in the day so get in quickly!

I rarely get over to Botany, but when I do it is usually airport related. Whether picking someone up or dropping them off, I always seem to have a good 30−40min of productive coffee drinking time available. And personally, I would much rather take 10min to get here(from the domestic airport) and pay for delicious coffee than ridiculously expensive airport parking. As to the delicious coffee, being that this is the roastery for Single Origin Roasters, it is rare that you’ll be disappointed with the coffee here. Whether you’re after a relaxing filter coffee or an espresso, you’ll be hard pressed to find something better near the airport. Absolutely worth checking out.
