Heaps of variety, freshly prepared food and good customer service.
Rice bar has my vote for casual, cheap eats outside the CBD. Often filled with students, this place is no frills, get-​what-​you-​pay-​for dining.

This is a really basic restaurant with minimal decoration. I find the name of this place funny though — «Rice Bar», and then on the side quickly adding «not only rice», almost like they lost business because everyone assumed they just served rice. Too cute and goofy.
Customer Service: Excellent. I had a fairly young waitress and she was very kind and attentive. Also, the food came out pretty fast~
Food: Like Irene said, one plus for Rice Bar is definitely the fact that they have a huge variety of items on the menu from entrees, to rice, to noodles. I ordered the Beef Ho Fun, flat rice noodles stir-​fried with beef. It was pretty good with a great value. Nothing incredible, but with the price and speed it was pretty enjoyable.

Overall, the quality of the food is really nothing to be excited about, but Rice Bar is very convenient, quick, with great service. I will be back.

On the corner of Grattan and Cardigan St, and pretty much next to Melbourne uni– Rice bar always seems to be filled with students and workers happily digging into their well-​deserved meals.
I have been here a few times and love how much variety they have on the menu, I can always find something appealing. The items of the menu all seem to have a traditional quality to them; this probably explains the mounds of international students eating here.
I wouldn’t really call this a restaurant, it’s more of a community-​dining hall.
It’s extremely casual, and really is just a place to get a quick and cheap feed.
The food here is tasty and definitely hits the spot for me, the quality isn’t fantastic and I’ve definitely had better, but it still gets the job done.
The prices here are very reasonable as well and the serving sizes are good too.
This is my go to place when I’m in need of a homely, filling, hearty and tasty meal.
