Went for the Tuesday meal deal. $ 20 for a soup and a choice of 3 mains. Pumpkins soup was a nice traditional style soup. Nice and thick with lots of pumpkins flavour. I ordered teh fish and chips and that came out great. Batter was fine but the fish they use was really good! Anyway nothing to complain with a hearty pub meal :)

I went to The Como Hotel on Saturday night for dinner with friends before an event we were attending, I must admit the reviews did not do it justice. The menu is pretty broad and there were about 6 different dishes I had my eye on, I settled on the Crispy Skinned Atlantic Salmon with Warm Potato Salad Asparagus and Avocado Salsa — which was absolutely delicious. The flavors of this dish were outstanding and I’d happily go back tonight and order the same. Everyone at our table loved their food and this will be a place I will definitely go back to if I am in the area. A pretty lively bar on a Saturday night with plenty of television screens and great seating options throughout — the restaurant area has indoor and outdoor seating and you can also order and eat in the bar area. The bar has a great selection of local tap beers and an extensive wine list. My only negative was that service was a little on the slow side to start with, we were seated and not sure one way or the other whether we should order at the counter or if it was table service. Eventually a waitress did re-appear and take our order. It’s only a minor gripe and the food quality definitely outweighed this minor complaint.

I was also there on Mother’s Day! The food was as usual, very average and overpriced. Despite being a large place, good parking, decent beer and on a bus route it was almost empty by 8:30. As there is now a new bar, Hopscotch on Angelo St. I can only imagine that even less people will go. Get your act together Como, it could be such a vibrant, buzzing pub with a little bit of effort, oh and a new chef!

The Como has a huge potential that it doesn’t seem to be realising for some reason. It’s a big place, with multiple inside eating areas and a walled garden out the back, but it always seems to be lacking punters and atmosphere. We went for the other night for Mother’s Day and while the food was quite nice it was overpriced and everyone had left by 9:30. There are lots of similar hotel-type venues around Perth that are buzzing at the weekend and, with the number of people who live nearby, I’m sure The Como could be the same if they put some effort into it.

An oldie but a goodie. Good deals during the week, Mondays second meal is half price etc etc, and a really nice place to while away a couple of hours on a sunny afternoon in the beer garden. Live music on sunday afternoons, and a fabulous selection of drinks. Food is yummy, upper end of the pub price scale but is somewhere I know I can take people that will be good. Inoffensive modern Australian food, good drinks, and a fireplace on cold winter nights. What more do you want?

The location is good, the building is nice, and the bartenders are friendly — however something is definitely lacking at the Como, and I can’t put my finger on it. Perhaps it’s the location, the neighborhood, or some of the locals, but this place just never feels like somewhere I’d like to hang out for too long. And they close early depending on the headcount — something I particularly despise in a bar. Good for an afternoon tipple or three though, on a nice day, if you’re in the area!

We thought we’d give this a go after seeing the advertisements for new chef and menu so came here for dinner last night. Sat out the back in the beer garden which was really nice and had a good atmosphere with heaps of people. I thought the menu had better options about 6 months ago when i last came… nothing was really jumping out at either of us. I ordered a chicken caeser salad which was delicious! Chicken had heaps of flavour, my only gripe was that I ordered it with chicken and they forgot to put it in(this seems to happen to me everywhere) so had to wait around 10 minutes for them to add it in. The manager was really apologetic and nice though! My boyfriend played it safe with a chicken parmi, he seemed to enjoy it but the chips tasted like they had been sitting there for a while. I think this place has so much potential with it’s convenient location but it’s just not quite there yet… it’s not terrible but not fantastic either.

I really dislike this pub. My housemate and I came here recently to try it out on a Sunday arvo. We always drive past it and thought we may as well give it a shot. I don’t really like the layout of the pub, the front has a few outdoor seats which faces the highway and then you walk through an empty bar, then through the restaurant and then outside to the beer garden. It was pretty quiet, not much atmosphere. They did have a band playing which I didn’t really enjoy and the food was terrible. I had a steak sandwich that just fell apart and was very dismal and my housemate had the chicken parmi which she ate two bites of and threw it away. They did have a Sunday special for slider burgers so maybe that was the way to go but I won’t be going back again to try that out.

Took a fe clients out for lucnh here earlier in the week. I have to say I found the location average in comparison to years gone by. The outdoor areas still offer the best experience in my opinion and the menu remains predictable and un daring. I had the Chicken Waldorf Salad my guests going for steaks and chicken parma. Everyone enjoyed it, although there were more than one comment about the steaks not being cooked as requested. In addition, crazy I didn’t notice it at the time, my salad was absent of any dressing(see picture of food), still tasty but not good enough these days with the prices places such as this charge. Second visit recently, I wont be back.

Been going to The Como for nearly 20 years.(Wow!) I doubtless owe them a good word because nearly all these years The Como has been extremely reliable for getting very good food into my belly whenever I have needed it. So BIGUPS for that. But you can see 2 stars above and that’s obviously because my latest meal there was a 2 star meal(twice-cooked fish and chips? No thanks.). Don’t really wanna say much more. Sort it out Como and I shall certainly revise this«review». For what it’s worth…

Great selection of beers and plenty of outside seating. A nice place to buy a $ 10 beer!

When I come here I suffer from Suburb confusion. An ailment I don’t usually complain of. Let me explain. When all is in correct order in your body and mind you can slip seamlessly from suburb to suburb, without feeling the slightest inner disturbance. Suburban transitions simply flow. This is not the case when you have suburb confusion. Suburb confusion occurs when an area of suburbia(or suburb, for the non-pretentious) does not fit the image you expect it to. So much so that a jolt like sensation is felt throughout the body as you take in the scene around you. You may experience headache, weakness or nausea. Suburb confusion affects everyone differently. And so, I suffer from this ailment when I frequent the Como. I believe Como to be an affluent area. Not up there with your Peppermint Groves but certainly more affluent than Midland or Morley. But, this pub? Affluent, the crowd does not seem to be. Not that I mind, but, like I said — suburb confusion. I always feel slightly startled and a bit uneasy when I do a 180 take of the crowd. I often feel encased by a mosaic of singlets, tattoos and non-pointy shoes. But I do quite enjoy it here. it’s not a bad pub. There’s some Time Zone type games, always entertaining. The food is quite good and there’s a relaxing ambience about the Como. Good. I need it to counteract some of the suburb confusion.

I remember the good olé days here, when I studied at Curtin and my flat was walking distance to this pub. They were great times and the locals were brilliant. I could walk down here any night, and there was always someone I knew in there. I learnt how to play pool in this pub, so I have very fond memories indeed. I do still come here when I can as I just love the ambiance here, its pretty funky without being pretentious. The food here is getting expensive though, I really miss a pub that you can come to and just order cheap food. Because sometimes you just need to fill the bellies, not empty the bank, but hey we are in Perth everything is pricey here. Its great to sit in the bar or out in the restaurant area if there is a lovely cool breeze blowing in.
