I was really excited to hear that Bay Hong now do phở. However it was a huge disappointment. The soup was thin and tasteless and the beef used was of a very poor quality, and there were 3 pieces in the bowl. It was a very small portion and too overloaded with noodles. I’ll stick to my usual phở restaurant and Bay Hong should stick to what they know.

Really disappointing food and portions, especially for the high prices. Our duck basket with crispy noodles had 3 thin slices of duck, when we told the waiter his response was «these are chef portions». Our corn and crab meat soup was cold, the waitress we told did not come back with any reply to our feedback. And we were charged for 3 portions of rice when we got 1 small serve in a small bowl. The waiter’s explanation was they «piled/​cramped» 3 portions into the small bowl! He later decided to charge us for 2 portions. Anyone with any sense of portions or common sense will know a small bowl of rice is 1 portion and piling 3 portions into it is impossible and ridiculous.

Really yummy Vietnamese in the Surry Hills/​Darlo area. The menu’s your standard fare, but everything tastes just that extra bit special. The staff is really friendly and the ambiance relaxed. Great for a delicious meal among friends before a night out on the town. Highly recommended!

Different to other Vietnamese food I had but it was outstanding! The waiter was on his toes and service was nice as well.
I personally recommend the natural spring rolls and the papaya salad.

Living so close to my favourite vietnamese (phamish) ive only made it to Bay Hong twice. The first time we have abused the BYO situation a little too heavily, but my trip here last weekend was a great surprise. The service, always a big deal for me, was great! Attentive and thoughtful which is a nice change from waiters you sometimes have to remind about things. They had a special prawn dumpling which needs to become a permanent menu item — delish!
