Oh Birdees, the backpackers paradise. Birdees is located in the middle of Fortitude Valley connected to a major hostel. It’s always going on because it’s cheap to get into and the most casual club. Since its for backpacker, shorts and tee shirt are acceptable clothes here, though not anywhere else in the Valley. Birdees has lots of themed events that are cool, but as a local, there is really no reason to go to Birdees besides that since there are much better clubs/​bars in the Valley. It’s my least favorite «club» in the valley because it’s so casual, but lots of students, backpackers, and recently 18 year olds love it for the cheap drunk prices and casual feel.

Birdies Num Num’s the glorified backpackers nightclub. If you’ve ever been overseas or even to one of the backpackers bars around Brisbane you’ll know exactly what your getting into. Drunken Irish backpackers dancing with gorgeous Brazilian girls is a typical weekend scene at Birdies. The downstairs dance floor also being one of the loudest places to be on a weekend, features many odd things of that nature. It also has relatively cheap alcohol and a great area to sit and socialize outside near the pool.
Upstairs is a completely different story though. Recently refurbished, they’ve managed to turn it into one of the nicest place in Brisbane to chill, dance and drink. Don’t go to Birdie Num Num’s without at least having a look upstairs, most people don’t even know it exists.

Birdee’s, as its known, has a more casual atmosphere than most of the night spots in Fortitude Valley. Being a backpackers bar, the dress code is decidedly less uptight and you can usually spot the backpackers inside by their tan shorts and white singlets that seem to be their uniform. Though its been renovated in recent years, the venue is looking a bit careworn and tired, not that anybody notices when the dancefloor is packed and the drinks are flowing. There are two levels and upstairs is a very funky Alice in Wonderland themed room with Baroque style armchairs, velvet curtains, chandeliers and soft carpeting. Its available to hire for functions and events and is perfect for big Christmas parties and the like. Downstairs, the outdoor area is quite a novelty in Brisbane too, with a beachy bungalow bar and pool. Birdee’s is known for its Sunday sessions when the pool and spa are open and the place feels more like a backyard BBQ than a nightclub. On top of the usual Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, they’re open and pumping tunes the other 4 nights a week so no matter when you feel like dancing, Birdee’s is there for you.

Birdee Num Num’s known to everyone simply as Birdees is a unique mix of Mexican restaurant, backpackers bar and themed night club. Located on Ann Street in Fortitude Valley its striking yellow exterior is hard to miss. Birdees is attached to a popular hostel so attracts a very diverse crowd. On the inside Birdees has a great layout consisting of three bungalows, a pool come spa and long tables giving it communal feel. There is also a DJ that comes on at night with plenty of room to dance. Birdees has many themed nights to keep it constantly refreshing such as 3 dollar spirit night or ladies night with a twist where men can take advantage of the free drinks too provided they show up in costume and adhere to the rule of looking like a lady.
