Second Chapter is the new sister café to bay favourite ‘Zest Café & Gallery’. Located at the other end of Jetty Rd, it has the exact same menu as Zest, but the coffee and the specials are different.
It has only been open a few weeks and as such they are still finding their feet. I first went there for lunch and had a BLT and while it was nice I wish the bacon had been crispy, but that’s just a personal preference. The second time I went for breakfast and they were very busy, luckily we had booked. There were a couple teething problems that day, but they were all minor and were fixed immediately. Staff were extremely friendly and the food was delicious. I had the mighty muffin and my husband (surprise surprise) had hells eggs.
I don’t drink coffee, but this seems to be the big hit at Second Chapter. They have their own special in-​house blend and my husband loved it. I also overheard an older women (very well dressed and ever-​so-​slightly snobby looking) raving about the coffee to the waiter. That’s always a good sign!
Once Second Chapter find their groove they will be a great addition to Jetty Rd.
