Knights & Bytes

Knights and Bytes has the oldest, dustiest storefront I’ve ever seen! But hey, it’s not about glitz here, it’s about chess. I’m no chess expert, I think it is a little too late for me. My boyfriend taught me last year when we were on holiday in Vietnam, and eventually after playing everyday for a month I got pretty good. But a few weeks without practice and I was back to my fairly low standard of ability. Knights and Bytes is where you should take your kid if you don’t want them to turn out like me. Or, y’know if they show an interest in chess.
Although they sell chess boards (and also set up databases online for businesses), their main game seems to be teaching chess classes, both in schools and at their shopfront on Port Rd. There is classes for adults and kids, and they are pretty damn cheap. On Saturday mornings you can do a class for just ten bucks! Ten bucks, young padawan/​grasshopper/​amateur chess expert. You can also get private classes for fourty bucks if you’re a real nerd.
