This visit was inspired by a really lovely man that insisted we try. not disappointed to say the least. Upon arrival we were shown a seat, offered coffees and given menus. Basic coffee shop curtesy was shown which gives Bare Bones a tick from me. You’d be surprised how many miss the mark by forgetting a few basic steps. Not these guys. With heaps of options on the menu, I was left stuck. Usually having the benefit of a small choice list due to vegetarianism, these guys had too much choice– the most glorious issue to have. In the end a classic avo on toast took my pick. Marvellous. Our food came out TOGETHER, HOT, and in good time. I’m seeing a return visit with this indie little find. If you’re over that side of town do yourself a huge favour and try out the other options at Bare Bones. I’m so keen to go back already.

Such good little hidden secret. How they managed to create this little corner in the middle of a homemaker centre is an excellent example of their hard work. I’ve been here three times and every time I have loved it. Great coffee, great service and great food. Reasonable pricing and filling portions. Good atmosphere, however I would recommend Coming during a busy period as room is limited.

I have been here numerous times with friends and or family. While I love the menu items and gluten free items the service is very takes forever to. get menus than longer for someone to notice or come back to ask for drinks and or food order. noone has ever told us the options of specials on the board. I feel the very long waits for food is also a issue. You certainly can’t do lunch and have to go back to work in under a hour! The outside area is my choice as inside is tiny tables that are very close to others barely enough room. on table if more than 2 eating not to mention very loud! I am unfortunately not going to be a regular anymore as I feel the poor inconsistent service has let Bare Bones down.

Not really my local but given how far I usually travel for a good breakfast this may as well be. Is it the most amazing breakfast you’ll get in Brisbane? Well, no. But will it do if you live within 15 minutes and want a decent, fresh, affordable, sizeable breakfast. You bet your behind it will. Staff here are lovely and make you feel very comfortable. The outside deck area that I’ve sat at every time is most perfect for this location. And given that you are essentially sat in the carpark of a homemaker complex, you would barely notice. The coffee is good and they have a pretty varied sweets and pastry cabinet here so grab a coffee, grab some breakfast or some morning tea and sit yourself down with your paper or your book or your magazine and rest your bones for a bit.

Yes… it is smack bang in the middle of Homemaker City Jindalee and I had my doubts. But yes, it is very much a little treasure which I’m sure will be here longer than the last 2 places. Why? The food is fresh, comes out relatively quick and tastes amazing. Not only that, the prices are very reasonable $ 16ish for a main meal at lunch time… really yummy board specials(especially the pulled pork burger and chicken quesadillas) and the drinks are one of a kind. All natural, all organic mostly and a breath of fresh air. I have never drunk coconut water out of a bottle and had it taste like it had come directly out of a baby coconut… well, here my friends is where you will get the best tasting coconut water in a bottle(in the whole of Brisbane perhaps). Can’t wait to take my husband here for lunch, as it is bare bones, but it is lovely.

What a gem! Everything is made in house so those of us with food allergies can be confident of what we’re ordering! Seems like an odd place, in the middle of a carpark BUT the staff is so friendly, the food is creative and delicious and the coffee is that heavenly Toby’s Estate! It’s simply wonderful and I’ll be a regular! Can’t wait to go back with hubby and try more!

Today I ventured out to Jindalee homebase(looking for a new bed) but first on the list was breakfast at Bare Bones Society. A few friends had mentioned good things about BAREBONESSOCIETY so we decided to pop in for breakfast at this place. I spoke briefly to the guy that took our order when we arrived and he mentioned that the place opened this year. I was happy to hear in these tuff economic times someone has decided to open a new business… im going to give them a four star and visit them again and hopefully give them a five star! Now, the reason for the 4 star… I ordered the«Not Bare Bones» which was as described on the menu(and I wish I had read the menu properly!!!) it clearly states a slab of bacon… the table in front of us was also served the same and the young lady clearly enjoyed everything as her plate had nothing left … I was a bit surprised when i received my plate, it really is a slab of bacon!!!, I only ate a few mouth bites of the bacon and the sausage ??? which was left on my plate is not to my liking, the sausage is very porky/herby in flavour. Again, i wish i had read the menu properly. As we waited for our breakfast(30 minutes) another couple arrived and sat on the opposite side of us, i was surprised to hear the other(waiter) guy taking orders that are specials menu was on the chalk board! I then noticed the writing on the chalk board and wished i had ordered the special on the board… this couple ordered the mince on toast and the berry special, which i sooooo wished i knew about… yes i know i had a black board with writing just in front of me, but honestly it was soooo messy in writing i just glanced and took no notice of it! I hope this review helps, …your board with specials has TOOMUCHINFORMATON… and evidently i missed what i really wanted for breakfast as i thought the menu which i was given is everything you have … My daughter ordered from the kids menu, avocado on toast. She did not like nor did she eat any of it ‚…you had put lemon on the avocado … this is NOT children friendly. So i had to order pancakes which were FANTASIC and for this i give you a four star. I look forward to visiting you again… remember have your staff explain the chalk board!

Live nearby Jindalee and feel your ‘hood is lacking a decent café option? Bare Bones is for you. Live on the other side of town? This may not be the new café hub fro you? The menu just leaves me underwhelmed. Not because it isn’t good our meals were decent(my vego sandwich — pumpkin, lentils, haloumi and rocket was a filling and reasonably healthy option for Saturday lunch). It’s just that I feel the owner, one of Brisbane’s most lauded chefs, could have taken more of a punt to bring together a menu that was bold and full of something more than a pasta dish, some hearty winter options(shanks) and open subs. I acknowledge this also could be what they’re going for so that it is accessible to many. Perhaps as the weather warms and salads return to the menu this spot will truly shine. The prices are decent. $ 12-$ 14 for more subs and your most expensive mains being the lamb shanks at $ 24. Breakfast ranges from $ 10-$ 18 for their version of the big breakfast and there’s a dedicated kids menu for breakfast and lunch. They’d run out of glasses on our visit and the service was a little patchy. From ordering to eating lunch there was a 45min wait for our meals(a rueben sandwich, a vege sandwich and a chicken salad to be brought to our table). And coffees that were ordered long after others were delivered first with us having to follow up on the others. Still, each time I’ve been at the home maker centre it’s full. Which shows that it’s a gem in a sea of hungry home shoppers wanting more than McDonalds and locals alike.

I have been to bare bones several times are discovering it. Well what a fantastic place to sit back and enjoy not only fantastic food and service. This is exactly what jindalee has needed, quality food. The staff were helpful and friendly, atmosphere was really nice. Kyms food was as always of high quality. This will be my favourite place to sit back on the weekend and having breakfast. A place well worth visiting.

This café is bare. Random primary coloured chairs in a very bare stark restaurant is a nice touch. The tables are covered in butcher’s paper with the words«Bare Bones Society» stamped on them. This isn’t your typical white tablecloth bistro. I like this bare, minimalist look. I came here for a midweek lunch. The lunch menu isn’t as varied as the breakfast menu. There’s about 8 different options for different types of sub sandwiches. Mostly around the $ 12 mark. There’s a few options on the specials board which offer a burger, linguini pasta dish, a soup, and 2 or 3 different salads. A bit limited in range, so you better hope you like subs. My boyfriend and I opt for the subs as I was after something that was more filling than a salad but now a heavy meal. I got a meatball sub which has veal & pork meatballs with a rich napoli sauce, rocket and provolone cheese on garlic bread. My boyfriend opted for a «hot dog» style sub with bratwurst and bourbon barbecue sauce(the tastier of the two subs). Whilst the food itself was generous, it wasn’t amazing. The price is appropriate for the portion size though. The subs are more of an open sub which means it’s looks great on the plate but hard to eat. It’s really difficult to eat an open sub with cutlery but it’s too open to eat with your hands. A slight dilemma. I’d have happily eaten this dish as a bowl of meatballs and chunks of garlic bread to mop up the bowl. The service was great at the start if not almost over zealous. We were asked if we were ready to order without even opening up the menu yet. We were asked twice within 5 minutes of sitting down if we were ready to order. On the third attempt we order our food and drinks. It took a good 45 minutes from the time we ordered to the time we got our subs. Yep. 45 minutes to make two subs. Annoying was also the fact that our drinks were finished long before the food came out. I felt my eyes lingering towards McDonalds several times as my stomach growled. Another sad thing was that my iced tea cost $ 4 for about 200mL. I’m unsure if they make their own iced tea but it tasted just like Lipton iced tea. I felt ripped off and thirsty. I’d have preferred if they actually just gave me a whole 500mL bottle of Lipton. My boyfriend’s chocolate milkshake was delicious though. Summary: The meals are appropriately priced with most under $ 20. The iced tea was not. The food is average but the wait time was excessive with no apology for delays. I can’t see myself coming back here unfortunately.
