Q.P.O Restaurant, Bar and Events

I had a Moroccan chicken wrap with chips.
It was delicious, the garlic dipping sauce they had on the side for the chips were to die for.
The lemongrass tea I had was so refreshing might I add.
Followed by the warm sticky date pudding!

I have been here for dinner twice in the past year and have absolutely loved my experience on both occasions!
Sitting on a rather busy road, QPO is an absolute gem! Style-​wise it sits somewhere between a classy restaurant and a comfortable bar with plenty of tables, chairs and even couches for you to choose from including an outdoor area for those gorgeous Melbourne days (when they roll around!)
A very relaxed vibe this restaurant has a delicious, affordable menu that will please even the most discerning diner– tonight I ordered the Rib Eye Filet with Mash, Peas and Pepper Sauce and it was cooked perfectly! I like my steak rare and they truly nailed it! I’ve also eaten their Smoked Salmon Fettuccine and found it to be absolutely delightful and very, very filling.
Great portion sizes and the staff are competent, exceedingly friendly and awesome at their jobs! A great place to come with a groups of friends or a significant other!

From the outside the QPO looks like it will one of those cool re-​purposed spaces with a funky re-​fit, so was initially a bit disappointed that it’s just got a pretty stock standard café vibe going on. Having lunch here makes sense, as does post-​dinner coffee and cake (or a glass of wine), but feels a little weird to me for dinner for some reason.
The menu is a hodgepodge with pizza, a few Asian dishes, salads, etc, and thus the food really follows that ‘jack of all trades, master of none’ adage, but you should be able to find something at least.
Where we really dig the QPO is for the dessert cabinet — when passing by we’ve been known to jump off a tram, pick some take-​away mini-​cheesecakes up (usually a variety of cheesecakes), and then jump right back on the next tram home. Also have enjoyed a few after dinner glasses of wine there (while friends have their ‘before bed’ coffee that I’ll never get my head around).
A nice place to take your Mum for a catch up coffee and cake is probably the best way I can sum this place up!

My mate told me to try this place, so I thought I try it out.
We began with a antipasto plate and then for mains I had the lamb pizza, and my wife the roasted duck special and share a lemon tart. Best lemon tart I ever tried. Both of us really enjoy our meals.
Staff are quick and friendly, nice atmosphere, and great value for money.

I can only comment on the coffee here as that’s all I’ve had. My husband and I come for coffee after having dinner at Ocha down the road (read my review on that place) as we always know we will have a great latte and cappuccino here.
It does look like a great place to eat. I’ve always had great and friendly service here even. Even though we just co e in for a coffee they still treat us like valued clients. The atmosphere is great too, very warm and welcoming.

QPO is what I like to call an all-​rounder. It’s a place where you can get a Thai flavoured salad, a bowl of pasta or a big English breakfast.
Sometime this can be great, but on most occasions it spreads itself out too far and instead of mastering a more specific and smaller menu, it’s a little too ambitious.
So QPO is inconsistent. It needs work and maybe a menu overhaul. But its okay for a quick meal and its location makes it an ideal venue for a catch up with friends.
I can’t really argue with the prices. They are very reasonable when compared with the competition, and the serving sizes are pretty generous.
I have to admit I like going there for breakfast. I love the eggs benedict ($ 14) and the coffee is okay too. The service is friendly and warm, and the food comes out fast.
Unfortunately due to the opening of culinary powerhouse St Katherine’s, I think QPO may struggle to fill the space in the future with St Katherine’s getting rave reviews.
If QPO could make their menu smaller and concentrate on producing really good quality, then Kew would have a great all-​rounder. As it is, I just don’t think it can compete in the big league.
