I’ve been to Pinocchio many times. This is one of my regular restaurants when eating out. The owner is Korean, and the restaurant has mixture of Korean and Japanese food.(I tend to have Japanese food myself, as I am not a big fan of chilli.) The meal is generous portion and tasty. It took me a while to remember they don’t open on Sunday… I drove all the way there a few times on Sunday. Some minor negative: some staff are not very fluent in English, however this is not a big deal. Also during busy times, the order may take a bit longer than usual. pp

I’ve had an ongoing love affair with Pinocchio’s ever since my first year at uni(and that was a long time ago…) I’m serious, Pinocchio’s is THE place to go to for UNSW students wanting filling meals on a tight budget. Many a silly conversation has gone on while chomping down on a $ 10 bento set(your choice of Teriyaki Chicken, Fried Chicken, or Korean Style Beef with salad or dumplings, plus rice, two slices of sushi roll and miso soup! Phew!) or a hot stone Bibimbap bowl($ 13ish). I gotta say the poor student in me almost cried when I found out that they no longer offered those delicious potato side dishes(Seriously *what* do they marinate those in!!!) and kimchi for free. To be honest though, Pinocchio’s is more about the memories than the food to me. I fell in love with this cozy little restaurant in first year, and I know I’m going to keep coming back, even after graduation!

Had Bimbab …$ 13 is too much to pay when its mainly rice and not nearly enough beef and veges… also the flavours weren’t there — not enough sesame oil perhaps. i had to add lots of korean chilli paste to get some flavour. My partners mixed plate wasn’t great either: funny tasting gyoza and teriyaki chicken was ok but didn’t taste like teriyaki. It was busy with students though

I used to go here at least twice a week when I worked at UNSW. I still have cravings for their Number 7 Set. haha. Sushi, sahimi, Gyoza, Miso and Salad… mmmmm. A great little Japanese/Korean joint that is cheap and generous, and ALWAYS packed at lunch times.

Pinocchio Sushi is an odd name for a Sushi restaurant. Pinocchio would seem better suited for an Italian restaurant. Who knows maybe there is a story behind it. Besides it is not the name that is important it is the food. Pinocchio Sushi’s menu is much broader than Sushi, they serve many kinds of dishes with a menu more extensive then the average Sushi restaurant. My choice was Korean BBQ beef and for $ 10 it was a winner, although I always enjoy Korean BBQ. The serving was a good size and the service was fast and friendly.
