Who do you know who doesn’t like crepes? De-friend them immediately. Thank me later. Crepes are delicious. It’s an objective fact. There are only variations of deliciousness, and you’ll find them all here. Aix has an expansive range of savoury and sweet crepes, and staff are on hand to guide you towards the best of the best on offer. Seating is sparse but get a table and you’ll find yourself in a funky little alleyway just between Collins and the one between Collins and Flinders. Forgive my geography. There’s no wifi but you can jump on neighbouring networks(ssshhh!). Take a seat and order a crêpe. It’s as simple as that. Minutes later, you’ll be rewarded with inarguable deliciousness. Get it down your neck and get on with your day. The degree to which you’ll be slightly heavier will be almost equally matched by the degree to which your wallet is lighter. It’s a beautiful parity. The only difference will be that taste in your mouth and an innate satisfaction that you’ve just experienced the best crepes in Melbourne.

Have been to this place a few times before as it’s close to work and quick to get in and out. Service is always good, however this time the crêpe was a little under done and the filling not as good as I have had with the same crêpe in the past. I went for the KD Lang vegetarian option — grilled veg with spinach & ricotta. The variety of roasted veg seriously lacking. Disappointed. The pic is of the one my colleague had — same but looks better. Might try a desert option next time because although I was a little disappointed this time, I’m sure it’s an anomaly. PS — it’s licensed

I had the Crêpe Special — Nutella & Strawberry(Queensland) Crêpe Served with Double Cream — $ 8.50. I really appreciated the extra service they provided of cutting the crêpe in half and serving it on 2 plates for my wife & myself. They did this without us even needing to request it. According to my wife the coffee was ‘ok’.

Whenever I head down to Melbourne I have an instant craving for crepes. I managed to find this creperie on Unilocal and thanks to others reviews we dined in and order just a simple ham and cheese crêpe. When they are done properly they are just the best. This creperie does a really good one and I will definitely be back for another. They only have a small amount of seating inside but it is a good little atmosphere and definitely a place ill return to.

Located in a busy funky alleyway, We were lucky to find this tiny eatery looking for breakfast on a Sunday morning. I had the scrambled egg and bacon baguette and my partner had a BLT. Both sandwiches were fabulous, as were our coffees. The waitress was very outgoing and friendly — by far the best service I’ve had in Australia. And the value — our total bill was $ 18.50. I can’t say enough amazing things about this café.

Just don’t order the«Blood-orange & burnt sugar» crêpe. I can never seem to catch this delightful sounding crêpe when the oranges are in season. But that’s no problem because the selection of sweet and savory crepes is varied enough that it will take you a while to have the same thing twice. Today I have settled for the«Berries and rosewater yoghurt» crêpe with a flat white to wash it down. The service here is always friendly and always apologetic when they let me know my blood orange crêpe is yet again out of season.(one day I will get my blood orange crêpe, it’s how they keep me coming back) The seating is cramped and rarely comfortable, but just remember, that’s not why you came here. Aix is all about the food. And they do it well. Everything I have had has tasted great, was a good price and the portions are the perfect size. Large enough to satisfy but not so large that you’re not still craving more. My only gripe is that the coffee here is totally hit or miss. Some days I have come in and enjoyed a delightful brew. Other days it has been bitter or burnt. But I am a coffee snob; so if you’re not as picky as me I challenge you to find the flaw at Aix Creperie. PS. As I was paying my very modest bill, $ 10.50 with a twenty, the owner asked me if I had any change. I apologised, as I had no coin with me. He then said, «remember for next time» and handed me back a tenner. Needless to say, this will be remembered, and I will be back.(as much in gratitude as it will be to get my blood-orange crêpe) **edit** I have since returned after I received a tip-off that the blood-orange was in season and the crêpe was available. To be honest it wasn’t the best crêpe I have had there. But that just serves as a complement to the rest of the menu because the blood-orange crêpe was rated yummy on the Hertz-Schnider tasty scale.

Crêpe heaven! This place might be tiny and a little difficult to find a seat, but when you finally get the chance to sit down to a meal, you’ll truly know it’s all been worth it. The service is great — friendly, fun and always with a smile. Their crepes are huge, delicious and so very creative. Stick date crêpe! Lasagne crêpe! Tiramisu crêpe! These guys are great!

Given the European feel of Centre Place, today I decided to eat at Aix Café Creperie Salon. If you are lucky enough to find a table outside take it as soon as you see it as it will not be there for very long, this will ensure that you get the full sensory experience that Melbourne has to offer. As you enjoy perhaps the most delicious and possibly the only beef lasagna crêpe in town(that’s right) you will be overwhelmed by the number of smiles you see on everyone’s faces as they, like you realise that it is not just about the food but the experience.
