This was very disappointing. Went with great expectations but the whole experience was a let down. They didn’t have 4 of the beers on the menu and messed up our chicken schnitzel club twice! Plus the staff were rude from the moment we walked in and everything was a problem for them. To their credit they discounted the bill but I certainly won’t be going back.

Went here to grab a quick bite to eat prior to flying out of Sydney in the afternoon. Had to wait to get served for a while. Food was served quick enough. The schnitzel was good and not overly heavy or oily. Was a good experience but not great

Pork knuckle wasn’t that nice, very dry. The crackling pork belly was a lot nicer. Would go back for the beer. Apple strudel felt like it was being flown in from Germany, so long to arrive.

The Germans seem to have mastered the art of comfort food. Warm, hearty, rich and delicious dishes where servings are always generous. Famous for their pork and beer, the Bavarian is no different. In Bavarian Bier Café you can expect a modern twist to the traditional classics of Bavarian cuisine. It started off with my husband craving for Pork Knuckle that lead us here. And their Whole Crispy Pork Knuckle with creamy mash, sauerkraut, bier jus and Granny Smith Apple compote did not disappoint. The servings were generous, skin was crispy, the sauerkraut and apple compote did their job in complementing the richness of the pork knuckle. The Roasted Pork Roll with crackling, spiced apple, slaw and lime aioli served with fries was also delicious. Every bite you can hear the crunch from the crackling. Yes, of course the CRUNCH is very important! And the kids menu was reasonably cheap. For $ 6 you can choose from Chicken Schnitzel, Fish, Sausage and more which all comes with either mashed potatoes or chips. The menu itself comes as a colouring paper to keep the kids occupied. In terms of comfort eating, I went all out by having one litre of Franziskaner Mango Weissbier, or Mango Beer for short. It’s the reason I keep coming back to this place for. Located in the Entertainment Quarter precinct, this restaurant is welcoming and family friendly. The staff were also very helpful even though it was a busy Sunday afternoon. This will not be my last visit, I will come back, if not for the Pork Knuckle it will be for the Mango Beer!

After a day out at Sydney Family Show, we plopped our bums down here for one drink. Two us drank two drinks in the end. This review is based only their customer service and drinks as we didn’t eat anything. We found the large wooden table/bench seat comfortable. i like how their drinks menu explains their biers which makes it far easier to order when you don’t know the bier they have for sale. They didn’t have the beer I ordered in stock so I said what I was looking for in a beer and accepted her recommendation of Fuerstenberg Pilsener which was delicious. I bought myself a second. We enjoyed the friendly customer service. The seating was well set out accept for the large table smack bang in the entrance way which should have been left clear for passage.

Walked in without a booking so the three of us ordered at the bar then sat in the beer garden. Even though they were really busy being a Saturday night and just after the cirque du soleil finished, the food came out really quickly. I wolfed down my pork roll with chips and aioli. The chips were just how I like them, crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The pork had a nice crackling with it and was nice and fatty though I’m probably going to regret that later. Would go perfectly with a beer but I’m not a beer drinker!

Just no. We went here for lunch during work and I do have to say that I left here feeling queezy to the stomach and not really that impressed. You see I’ve heard friends rave about this place and thought it might be the bees knees. It wasn’t. We went in and ordered our food and sat outside to enjoy the lovely spring sunshine. Our food came out, being that I ordered the schnitzel burger I thought I’d be safe. The schnitzel was dripping oil. I took a bite and every other bite I took from the burger oil would ooze and dribble out of the burger onto the wooden tray they brought it out on. I soon got a bit sick from all the oil and ended up pulling the chicken out of the burger and leaving it on the side of the tray and just ate the one anorexic lettuce leaf they put in the burger and the two tomato’s on the bun. The lettuce leaf was about as wide as two fingers and had obviously seen better days. The server came out and asked if everything was ok as she as walking past and never stopped even after seeing my chicken on the plate and me saying no. But I guess they don’t really care about customer satisfaction! And don’t even get me started on their drinks menu. Who on earth wrote that trollop? Ladies beer? Ladies schnapps? Are you people trying to tell me that the rest of the beer and alcohol menu is for men only and they only get the bigger cup options? That women only drink fruity beer and schnapps and only in small cups? Are you trying to come across as a sexist establishment or are you just sexist? Seriously? Who thought this would be a good idea? So let’s just say I walked away from here vowing I’d never return. Unless they changed the drinks menu and fired their chef. Such a disappointment.

I am a vegetarian. Yet I still managed to ‘find love in a hopeless place’ ;) Bavarian Bier Café offers a fantastic range of traditional, German dishes — their pretzels are finger-licking good, if not even better than that! They are ridiculously perfect — soft doughy insides, and served with softened butter! My brother and daddy will attest to the meat being exquisite! I found their vegetarian roasted vegetable fettucini to be the food of the gods. Perfectly cheesy, flavoursome and mouthwatering! The desserts? The apple strudel. You will feel like you are in Germany, eating Strudel with the German football team. I actually guarantee it is that tasty, served with vanilla anglaise to pour on top! Definitely give this place a go!

Went here before seeing OVO Cirque Du Soleil and had a great meal. We all ordered Bier House classic schnitzels and were impressed as always. The specials on offer for Oktoberfest looked amazing with my eye caught by others ‘Tasting Plate’ with Pork Belly, Sausage, Schnitzel :) Service was good but they could be a little more timely in delivering everything asked for at the same time. Totally recommend for a quality eating option for the Entertainment Quarter out of pretty slender pickings.

Go for the beer(amazing) come back for the food! I love their mango beer on a hot day even more so at their manly location on the water. The pretzels are a must with your drink but what really gets me coming back is the food! Generous portions(a bit big for me) at reasonable prices. The rocket salad is my stand by while my husband cannot pass up the pork belly. Make sure to try the red cabbage its amazing.

I went to the Bavarian Beer Café with my partner for dinner after seeing a movie. I ordered the platter($ 37) which was abit of everything — a snitzel, pork belly, 4 types of sausage, bacon, mash potato, red cabbage and a few other things. It was all pretty good though i didn’t even finish half of it — make sure you are starving or have someone to share with if you order this! Best thing is the crackling on the pork belly and they do a really good mash potato. My partner ordered a deal($ 17) — a large snitzel that if you finish you get a free schnapp. He finished it easily(it wasn’t very big) and he said it was quite good for a snitzel. When we first came in it was very busy but as we ate most people left. We were seating outside and there was about 20 guys at the table next to us and another couple a few tables away. A waitress actually came out yelling to the guys that they could be as loud as they want now as everyone in the restaurant had left — so they did become quite loud. So we quickly finished up and left.

A friend of mine wanted to combine a few beers with a meal, in the sun in a place that was kid friendly and the Bavarian Bier Café at the Entertainment Quarter was decided upon and it was a good choice in the end. The Bavarian beers were large and refreshing(not so refreshing the next day), the meals were large and tasty and even the kids meals looked nice. I’m sure they would’ve liked them too if they weren’t so busy playing in the park just up from here. It was a nice afternoon in a nice place but just be careful with the beers. People try tell me you don’t get hangovers with these type of beers but they are out and out liars!

When going to Fox Studios to see a movie or concert, most of the restaurants are a little bit fancy and overpriced, while the pub is not an option as it is packed with people drinking. Fair enough. For a reasonably priced meal with no fuss head to the Bavarian Bier Café. They do good, honest schnitzels, with sides like baked potatoes with rich mayonnaise and a rocket salad. Or steak, or pork belly, or sausages… The portions are generous so go there hungry. If I was ever really hungry I would get the tasting platter with about six different kinds of meat but unfortunately I’m never that hungry. Might be good to share though, so just need to find a like minded meat eater. This place can get busy on a Friday or Saturday night, even if there are no big events on in the precinct. So booking is best. I haven’t mentioned the beer yet, but do I really have to? Amazing selection of beers on tap, with a range of sizes. What more could you want?

Sport and beer go together pretty well, right? Well right next to the SCG is a very good spot for the Bavarian Bier Café, and if you’re familiar with the York Street café, you’ll likely greet this place like an old friend. Perhaps you’re craving a schnitzel or have a hankering for some Weissbier — either way, you’ll come out of here a happy camper. Especially if you’re heading to see some sport.
