Don’t be fooled by the nice man at the front of store offering you lollies… he may make you feel special but as soon as you’re seduced into buying something you’re nothing to him… Yes he may show you around saying«do you feel like something sweet or sour» «perhaps rasberry’s your flavour» and he’ll con you with the sugary goodness that will pass your lips… of course you’re going to enjoy it… it’s a lolly and it taste — delicious… Here’s the trick, the man will be nice and the lollies will be nice and you’ll think… ok, i could do with a treat… You’ll peruse the colours, the flavours — pick a few and make your way to the counter feeling like you’ve had a good experience… but as soon as the money exchanges your hands… it’s gone… the lollyman cares not for your experience — you’ve fallen into his trap and now that he has your money there’s no need for you anymore… Enjoy the seduction, but don’t leave heart broken — I warned you…

Walking into the Lolly Shop you will be greeted by a big«hello» and then be given one lolly of your choice to try. The shop is surrounded by containers of lollys of all different types. You can choose from chocolates to sours to soft to liquorice or toffees. They are all there. It’s not the biggest lolly shop in the world, but they have a great selection of the things that make us happy. Nestle, Mars, Cadbury, Walker Crisps and all sorts of boiled sweets. The friendly manager and his generous sales technique makes you want to buy something… just a little something. Even though I don’t have a history with British lollys, sweets are just as sweet no matter what country they come from.

When I was a kid, I used to ride my bike to the corner shop(not on my corner, hence the bike ride) and I would spend my $ 2.00 pocket money on lollies. For $ 2.00 I would get 200 lollies, then I would go home and eat all of them. It’s amazing, but I have never had a filling in my teeth, lucky I grew up in the fluoride generation. When I went into the British lolly shop it was like going back to that corner shop re discovering the lollies I would find when I was young, as we don’t live in the economy of the 80’s anymore I can’t get 200 lollies for $ 2.00, but none the less it excited me. The British Lolly shop also has lollies I have never seen before like English Mints, Apple & Custard lollies and Clove Rocks. The selection of lollies there is seemingly endless, I am wondering if Willy Wonker is hiding out the back some where. The only disappointment is you can’t buy the lollies individually, they only come in bags so you can’t get a mixed selection. It’ so exciting, I want to try them all.
