«…COULDN“T THINKOF A BETTERPLACETOBE, INGLORIOUSMELB, TODAY — GOODFOOD, GOODSERVICE, GOODDIGS, GOODVIBE…» Had a late but big lunch at BABBLEBARANDCAFE, Izett Street, Prahran… — Open, light, earthy, backwoods cabin type venue — Fab background music — Energetic staff — Generous serves — Definitive emphasis on fresh — Well thought out and well-executed dishes — Delish contemporary menu — Easy ticketed parking right behind We had:2 x calamari salad — couldn’t fault them, so fresh, crisp and delicious, lunch size, not entrée size: floured and fried gelatinous spicy real calamari pieces tossed through fine raw cabbage noodles with spinach leaves, avocado, halved cherry toms, shaved red onion, chopped spring onions, topped with toasted sesame seeds and tossed in an Asian style sweet and sour vinaigrette. 1 x grilled steak — I asked for VERYVERY well done, sorry. I cannot abide blood in my food., it was just perfect: no pink whatsoever, but still tender — beautiful creamy mushroom sauce — loved the greens, broccolini and asparagus, in a garlic vinaigrette — adored the hand made kipfler potato crisps. 1 x chicken parma — a big one: plump, juicy, good tasting napoli sauce, brown bubbling melted mozzarella — the chips must have been thrice cooked cos they were amazing: crisp, golden, soft inside and well-seasoned — and very importantly, NO black bits on the ends. 1 x brownie — warm unctuous gooey soft chocolate brownie topped with pitted sour cherries and served with vanilla ice-cream — gorgeous… Cost $ 119 inc 2 x jars freshly squeezed juice, and 1 x large coke. We were choc-a-block… It’s just a great place to go!!! Visited Sunday 28 Feb 2016 for lunch

One of my FAVOURITE places in Melbourne. The food, the coffee, the vibe, the service is ALWAYS on par. The wood cabin like design makes the place look so awesome and their range of food is always so delicious. Nothing beats having their«spartan omelette» special after a hard workout. It’s white egg, lamb, cottage cheese and spinach. UGH! I used to come here at least 3 times a week and I can only say how amazing this place is.

Great place for a weekend breakfast. Staff are always friendly and attentive and our pooch loves the extra free side of bacon!

I was underwhelmed. My first choice for coffee was closed because it just after new years, and they need a break. A very, very relaxed vibe and I think given the sunglasses on the staff, there were a few sore heads going around and a few confirmations of our order. My coffee was pretty ordinary and the wrap I got was pretty bland. If it wasn’t for the sweet mayo(meh), I don’t think there would have been a flavour to it at all. The upside was the fruit salad my partner in crime got was pretty nice, but more yoghurt please.

We finally came here when it wasn’t packed and could get a seat. The service was great and food was ok but there are better brekkie places around. I ordered the baroness omelette and it came with a slice of bread underneath and looked like a small skillet omelette(not flipped), nice flavours but nothing to write home about. Other two friends had omelettes with chorizo in it and they said the same, average omelette. The coffees were great and what made it for me was the friendly staff. Don’t think I’d come again.

Pretty good Risotto! Nice place for a romantic dinner; of course I do not recommend taking your laptop as your date. I didn’t have nearly as much fun as the couples around me…

I really don’t understand the buzz about this place! I haven’t been here in a very long time because the waiters are always in a bad mood, the food is terrible and oftentimes makes me feel sick, and there are about a dozen better places to go nearby. I revisited this place out of desperation. You know those times where you build yourself up to satisfy a very particular craving? Well mine was a banana smoothie. Unfortunately all of the usual suspects were closed. I was pretty devastated. I had been hanging out for one since the night before. So my life is a bit sad. Anyway, I finally got to Babble where they charged me an INSANE $ 8.50(usual smoothie place charges $ 5 for a much bigger serve), and the staff was totally apathetic. There were about 4 other people in the café at the time, they probably could have made more of an effort.

I came here because my boyfriend had a job interview right across the street and I visited Prahran with him to give him some emotional support. While he was in the building doing his interview, I was nervous. Really nervous. And when I get nervous… I eat. A lot. Food is a very big comfort for me, OKAY?! — I have to say that the staff are incredible. They’re some of the friendliest people I’ve met, always smiling and also happy to keep my water jug filled up and constantly reassuring me that things will be fine. The menu is extremely extensive, with loads of incredible breakfast options at decent prices that made my mouth water. I ended up settling on a bowl of chips for 9 dollars, which came with a mustard mayonnaise sauce that was creamy and delicious. The chips were perfection — crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, and THICK. Yum! The bowl was massive as well so I was filled up really quickly and there was even some left over for my boyfriend when he came out of his interview. And yes, he got the job!

Great place to be for Sunday brunch. Switched on waiters, good food and a fireplace in winter.

One of the trendiest and highest quality breakfast & lunch places in Melbourne. We love going there, but beware as it gets busy so best to get there early. Going there for lunch now. Woot!

Go here! Babble should be able to handle most of your needs. Love the staff, love the food, love the feel and energy of this place. What else can I say? Best restaurant around and the people working there are awesome! My first five star goes to… Babble!

This has got to be one of the most popular places in Prahran, Winsdor, South Yarra whatever! I cannot honestly remember a time that I have walked past and not seen people sitting outside(as well as inside) enjoying a glass of wine or a coffee. Maybe it’s to do with being located right next to the Coles and Safeway carparks just behind Chapel Street it is a convenient stop off after a days shopping. The staff at Babble are very friendly and charismatic, I guess they have learned a thing or two after years of being open everyday of the week. The food at Babble is also worth trying especially the breakfast menu. Breakfast is served until 4pm and showcases all your usual cooked favourites such as Salmon and Poached Eggs, Omelets, Porridge and Fresh Fruit Salad. Babble is a good place to take a date, a girlfriend or even your mum, there’s lot’s of food and drink to choose from and with a lively upbeat atmosphere to match it’s great anytime of the year.

Babble is classic Prahran. Trendy mums, tanned teenagers, barbie and kens and the gay mafia all mingle at this weatherboard café. The exterior of the building has a wrap around balcony where customers perch and gaze at the pedestrians below. It can feel a little intimidating walking past the silently staring eyes behind the Armani/DandG/LV shades. On the flip side when you ARE up there with friends and a coffee on a sunny day it is a totally fun place to be. During the summer weekends this place is constantly packed and service is a little slow but the food is above average and there is always a good buzz. If you are in Prahran and want to get away from the Chapel street grime, head a few blocks back to Babble and check out the more authentic side of Prahran.

One magical evening after work I came into Babble to unwind and have a beer. The bar tender, who at the time was a flaring champion, pulled a fresh cold beer out of the fridge and begun to do some fancy schmancy crap just to get the bottle cap off. When the bottle cap finally came off it went flying into the air and somehow made its way into the decorative feature above the bar. To this very day when you go to pay your bill and look up you will see the bottle cap from my beer. Before you pay, whether you came for breakfast, lunch or dinner, you will of course be very satisfied by the quality of food. The chefs in the kitchen do an amazing job, I know this because over the years that I have been coming here the food is always up to the highest standards. I recommend everything on the menu!
