Handworks Nouveau Paperie

This is one of my happiest places on chapel street. Pens, Notebooks, Journals, Beautiful cards for any and every occasion Nouveau Paperie makes me feel warm and fuzzy every time i visit. They also have a amazing selection of gifts from scented candles to ceramic trinkets. They stock lamy pens which are a personal favorite. Here’s a story… once when i called into get a refill for my lamy fountain pen i was sadly told they had only just sold out as Tywin Lannister from Game of Thrones (Charles Dance) has just been in and bought the last one. True Fact.

If you’re about to give a special gift to someone and you want it to knock their socks off before they’ve even opened it — head here for their gift wrap. There’s so much of it and it’s gorgeous. The kind of paper that I desire to hoard for a special occasion… even though I know I’ll completely forget about and put another gift in one of those tacky bags that I forgot to throw away from the last time someone gave me a present. Oops.
The card range is enormous and completely omits the creepy crap you find at supermarkets and newsagents. Unfortunately for my friends, I’m also really into gifting those for a laugh. But if you’re a better person than I, you’ll find something pretty and thoughtful here.
There’s also some nice gifty items, notebooks and other stationary.

Now, let me start off at the top by saying that I’m not normally, by nature, prone to step into these kinds of shops that sell greeting cards, and fancy wrapping paper, and high-​end writing journals, and «that sort of stuff.» However, it’s the holidays, and we were wandering along Chapel Street, checking out shops to see if we could maybe find some special Christmas ornaments or decorations (not the cheap crap that you get at Target or K-​Mart — which is certainly fine and dandy, if we were looking for cheap!). ;) Anyway, we happened upon Handworks Nouveau Paperie, and were lured in by the celebration of Christmas that overflowed from within!!! Let me just say, this is one very beautiful shop for people with a bit of cash to burn. Naturally, this being the Christmas holiday, the store is festooned with fancy and unusual ornaments, baubles, and small gifts of all sorts (martini shakers, paperweights, and doo-​dads of the kind), as well as its namesake paper items. This is a great shop to pick up small gifts for birthdays, housewarmings, and the like. The staff, even at this busy time of year, is very helpful and friendly. We picked up a good number of holiday ornaments that are keepers! (In fact, I ran back to Handworks the next day to pick up a few more!!!) A really terrific paper boutique (and more) in the heart of Prahran! :D

This has been a long one in the making. I basically visited here ages ago, and
decided to wait until I next went. It’s basically just too easy to loose track of time
here, and basically the «Oh I’ll just pop in here for ten minutes or so», turns into
about half an hour as you get distracted by all the potential awesomeness.
There’s a bunch of pretty things and all are there tempting you.
Cards, lots of cards at that, not the crappy kind, quirky little gifts, notebooks, dairies
and of course pretty printed paper. There’s a bunch of gift potential on store, so it’s pretty much an easy bet that you’re going to find good gifting ideas. All kinds of cute stuff in here for creative minds alike. Yes, this the type of place is that will send
stationery loving fiends bonkers.

This place gives me tiny thrills. Love all the notebooks, wrapping papers, gift cards and beautiful items great for gift giving or gift wrapping! If you’re a freak for chic stationery then you’ll love it too.

I’m not sure why but it seems lots of us do tend to get particularly excited by stationary. Maybe it’s just a girl thing or maybe it’s an arty thing, whatever the reason set me loose in Handworks and you probably wont see me again for at least two hours! I love the little paperie, it is stocked full of fascinating paper, notebooks, journals, cards and masks. You can buy large decorative sheets of paper by the sheet, some of which are incredibly detailed and ornate with tactile elements patterned across their shiny surfaces. You can also choose from a selection of birthday, anniversary and gift cards gifts and home decorations.
At the very rear of the store is a wall filled with beautiful Venetian style masks, they come in a range of sizes and colours and are perfect either for a Masquerade ball or even as a stunning wall piece for your home.

The verdict’s out: Handworks floats my boat, tickles me fancy, and puts a smile on my dial.
I’m sorry to all the other stationary stores out there, but Handworks is one of the best paper stores I’ve ever visited. They stock the most fantastic wrapping paper and cards, both of which are becoming increasingly difficult to find.
They also stock cutesy homewares like an adorable robot-​shaped teapot and some great stationary holders.
It’s really a stationary lover’s reverie. They stock stamps, a stack of invitations, eco-​friendly cards and tags, all the basics and an entire wall dedicated to ribbons. An entire wall, people! They even have decorative tape. Who knew that was even necessary? I didn’t, but then I felt compelled to buy 500 rolls.

Are you a stationery buff or simply love collecting pretty letter paper? Handworks Nouveau Paperie on Chapel Street has a wide range of letter sets, journals, cards, wrapping paper, sticker books and card sets for any occasion.
While getting a card from the local supermarket or newsagent is nice, somehow cards from specialist shops always are better. Whether it’s the less tacky appearance or clever, tactile approach, if you’re in the market for cards — check out handworks.
They also carry a wide range of home décor from fantastic porcelain owls and birds to quaint dear, awesome bird cages and deliciously scented candles and home scents.
Be prewarned though: There is much to look at and so much to browse through in this ample stocked store so expect to get stuck inside more than just a few minutes. The sales staff are not all that friendly or helpful though which is a pity because they really do have some awesome products. My advice: Look, touch, feel and browse like a pro — only ask for help when you absolutely need it.
