Occasionally there comes a time where I have to buy a gift for someone much fancier than I am. Here you will find all the housewares you’ll feel too guilty buying for yourself, but acceptable birthday splurges for the friend of a friend who only does designer, the partners mum or the boss you need to subtly impress. It’s had a face lift and replaced its cottage style teddies and lavender soaps with trendy diffusers, soy candles and ornaments of all kinds scattered amid the shelves. There’s always something strange and extravagant enough for you to get away with offering as a last minute present. As you walk out, with faux fern and mother of pearl platters in hand you’ll thank yourself as your conscience and wallet will be much lighter after that splurge. Now back to shopping at K-​Mart.

There were so many candle smells in this place my heart started beating erratically. Nevertheless I soldiered on. The novelty Christmas items in this store blew my mind. How do they get bits of foam and model them so they look like snow? There was a giant ice cream made out of what looked like fairy floss: incredible.
This store is absolutely packed with goods, so many that it’s a little dizzying, but they have some really nice gifts, especially newborn baby items and things to decorate the nursery. Also a lot of wine buff items like groovy wine decanters. They had so many of those ‘love,’ ‘eat’ ‘dream’ signs around the place it was overkill. Ok ok, I’ll eat, why are all of these signs yelling at me?
If you need to buy someone a present this is the place for you. They have so much to look at here and it’s good quality and not super expensive. Especially go here if you want to eat, dream, or love.

Some of the home and giftware in this store is very swish.
You should definitely check it out if you are after something more unusual for your home, or a gift for someone.
The kitchen range is particularly good and features a lovely homeware range by Lemongrass.
There are all sorts of weird and wonderful items here.
My only concern is they cram so much in the shop my accident-​prone nature will get the better of me one day and I’ll smash some crockery as I browse one day.

The shop assistants seem really friendly and happy to help with any queries a customer might have.

Not sure home much more diverse a homewares shops can get to set themselves apart from all the others, Swish is certainly crammed full! With floor to ceiling glass windows allowing light to enter the shop and not feel claustrophobic, it’s a wonderland of homewares, kitchenware, home and garden décor, dinnerware, prints, jewellery, candles, etc.
It’s in a great location near the Esplanade at Semaphore and on a hot day the sea breeze is a cooling relief. Oh and they have those gorgeous mirror crackled goblets and decorative birdcages!
A bedazzling display as eye to brain coordination is bamboozled you certainly wouldn’t want to suffer from dizziness! But seriously, this is a lovely shop with just as helpful and friendly staff.
