ASHECOMBEMAZECAFE The café is located at the start of the gardens. You could see the maze from the café. The service was great, orders were taken quickly and food came not long after, even when it was around three-quarters full. We had the lasagna as it was the special of the day. It came with a side salad. The lasagna was a huge slice and very filling. It has huge amount of minced meat in it. We also ordered the Chicken Parma that came with chips and a side salad. The chicken was very crispy with good amount of cheese and tomato purée. It was better than those you get from Disney resort quick service but cost slightly more compared with Disney. Overall a nice place to dine after a walk in the garden or hungrily having stuck inside the maze for hours or days.

The Ashcombe Maze and Lavender Garden, which is a great place if you like the idea of a maze. The main hedge maze itself is fun to walk in, find the mosaic titles and figure your way out. There’s a big land of the centre garden which features a small waterfall is very quaint and fairy tale like. The big land of Lower Woodlands of plenty of walking space and trees makes this part of the garden quite nice to walk along. Perhaps, I came at the wrong time of the year, because the nature wasn’t at it’s best when I visited this place yesterday. I am concerned about the edgy steel poles in the mazes, which I think poses a potential danger for kids. All it takes is for a kid to run around into the maze without caution and they can easily hit their head against this edgy pole. Mind you, there was more than one of these. There’s also a Lavender Labyrinth, which sounds like something from a fairytale story but in reality, is untidy, small and not that exciting really. If lavender is your thing, you’ll be better on visiting a proper Lavender farm. The tiny rose maze garden is nothing to be excited about, as it’s plain and ordinary. The rose garden at Werribee Mansion is significantly better. Picnics aren’t allowed at this place, but there is a café you can sit down to eat pies, ice-cream etc. Overall, the the place was quite disappointing particularly the maze, rose maze and Lavender Labyrinth. I wouldn’t recommend this place for kids because of th hazardous spots. The prices follows. Adults $ 18.50 Children(4−15years) $ 10.00 Senior Card and Health Care Card Holders $ 16.50 Family 1(2 Adults &2 Children) $ 52.00 Family 2(2 Adults &3 Children) $ 60.00 Family 3(2 Adults &4 Children) $ 66.00 Children 0 – 3 years are free Perhaps, this place is nice in terms of mazes in Victoria and depending on the time of the year, can look beautiful in photos. I wouldn’t recommend this place, unless they fix a few things to make the admission fee worth paying for. I think it’s better to go the Royal Botancial Gardens is beautiful all year round and free of charge. Plus you can have a picnic too.

My friend and I spontaneously drove out here to take full advantage of the unexpectedly lovely weather yesterday. Besides being an absolutely beautiful area and giving us the opportunity to take some great pictures we had a blast. The hedge maze is the hardest and the most enjoyable but that doesn’t mean the other mazes aren’t challenging. I must admit we took some sick joy out of sitting in the centre of the rose maze watching others struggle to get to us! It’s the small things in life! We only spent a few hours here and for $ 18.50 I kind of expected more, but I imagine with a family and kids you could make it a whole day out, otherwise there’s plenty more to see and do in the area.

every run through the corn mazes like some sort of thriller victim? well there are much more sophisticated alternatives legit hedge mazes! this place would be fantastic in the lavender season… unfortunately i was there in the summer so i only got to saw the dried twiggy remains otherwise the… the hedge maze is fun… DON’T CHEAT! afterwards, you can *wander* through their various gardens *bonus* they give a «gift» if you can find the names of the garden gnomes hidden around the premises // there’s a restaurant that serves breakfast/café style food there as well ~*~ it’s more for the gardens than anything else~

Ashcombe maze is a beautiful, quaint and secluded garden hidden away in the far outskirts of Melbourne. This place offers a beautiful lavender garden, a rose maze, a hedge maze and many other lovely gardens. This is a great place to soak up some nature and enjoy a peaceful and aimless walk. Great for couples and families. Ashcombe is beautiful any time of the year, there’s always something in bloom somewhere in the gardens. The hedge maze was lots of fun, it’s not too big that you would be lost for hours-but it does take a good 15minuets to wonder through. Probably not great if you suffer from claustrophobia as the walkways can get very narrow. Ashcombe maze also have a delightful little café onsite that sell light and tasty items such as dips, sandwiches and scones. Entry is $ 17.50 for adults and $ 49 for families(2 adults 2 children). Be sure to check out the gift shop as your leaving, they sell a range of lavender items you wouldn’t find elsewhere.
