Uni Disc

I’m usually put off by all the trashy novels on display outside Uni Disc, but I have been inside on a couple of occasions and found the range of books well organised and more diverse than initially expected. The best buy I’ve had from there is a Lonely Planet Guide to the Caribbean. Practically new, the book was going for $ 15. Had I bought it at RRP, it would have cost me $ 45, so I was quite happy with this find in Uni Disc.
If looking for a specific book, don’t discount Uni Disc, but it’s not somewhere worth mooching around in for any length of time as it’s just not that interesting.

One of my favourite things to do is go through second hand book stores and soak up the musty book smell. Similarly, I love to flick through cds in a store or rifle through dvd after dvd. Given these two things, you would expect that a store that combines both would be right up my alley. But unfortunately, Uni Disk falls short. Maybe it is the small shop, maybe it is the selection of dvds and books, maybe it is the atmosphere. Either way, Uni Disk is simply a place to kill a few minutes on campus if I am really really bored.
SItuated in the student Union Complex in the University of Queensland’s St Lucia Campus, Uni Disk is a little shop that often spills out into the pathway with its many secondhand books on sale. Sadly these tend to only consist of dodgy cookbooks or twighlight novels. The dvds are average prices and even the secondhand books are no bargain. If you have time time to kill check it out, otherwise there are plenty of other quirky and cool seconhand book and music joints hiding around the city.
