Nest is located in the new Walkerville Terrace shopping centre. The décor is clean and modern. The staff pleasant. I had the fish(grilled) and chips with an Iced Coffee on the side. Well the Iced Coffee wasn’t. it was a Tepid Coffee. The fish and chips were cooked fine, the side salad was fine. All in all, nothing bad but nothing special

Ah, I’m sad to join many other people and say that Nest is not really hitting its mark in terms of service. I haven’t had a bad coffee yet — like others have. I have visited several times to give them more opportunities to do better, but alas, I feel I find myself disappointed that I’ve gone in. My friend and I sat at the long(community) table and the lady at the other end said that during the hour she had been there, the cups and plates from previous people had stayed on the table despite the staff coming around several times to drop off other meals. Infact, it took the lady to the point of requesting that staff cleaned the table that it happened — and that was about 20 minutes after we arrived. The lady joked that she could’ve earned wages cleaning up for them if they paid her to do it. Our coffee took a long time to come to us, but to give them credit, it was actually a rather busy day in the store. I was served at the counter after quite a wait, and there wasn’t acknowledgement that I was there. Its not hard to say«I’ll be with you shortly» rather than avoiding eye contact. I almost asked my friend for us to leave, but was finally served. Small communication that the people who are paying for your service are valued to you should be a priority to your business. We watched people wait, and then leave after we had ordered. Its sad to see people feel that they don’t want to spend time somewhere. To be honest, I think you get better service from the supermarket within the centre than at Nest, and I don’t like to throw that around casually. Sadly, I don’t plan on going back to visit on purpose, but I do hope they change in the way they interact with their customers in the future, they might find more people will make the effort to visit. Nest has so much potential, and could really be a coffee hub if the right passion was put in to the work ethic. Maybe in 6 months time it might get some better reviews.

Just received the worst coffee i’ve had in a long time. Ive had a few coffees here before and it can be pretty hit and miss. Seriously this one took the cake. Dirty machine tasting. Burnt piping hot coffee. You could literally smell the plastic lid melting. Tasted like it was strained through a mouldy birds nest. Walked out threw it in the bin. Went round the corner and bought another one from the other café. First coffee ever I’ve ever had to chuck in the bin. No more nest for me. Sorry

I popped into this place for a quick coffee while I waited for my brother to finish work. I thought it would be ok to order a coffee and sit for 10 – 15 minutes and wait for him. Why was I so audacious? Well, mostly because this place is huge and it was nearly empty. There were at least 15 empty tables. I bought a macchiato and left my change in the tip jar. The barista/waitress then brought me the single most bitter shite tasting coffee I’ve had outside a McDonald’s or hospital vending machine. It was putrid. No amount of sugar could fix this mess. To top it off, the owner: a gentleman in his mid to later years started staring at me from behind the counter. I looked at him and gave a polite nod, but he kept staring at me more intensely. If I could turn the stare he gave me for over 5 minutes into words I think it would roughly translate to «Buy more things or get the #%&@ out of my café!» I did, gladly, as soon as I saw my brother walking toward me. Bitter coffee from a bitter shop owner.

My experiences with The Nest is a mixed one. Have visited here and had terrible and extremely slow service where things were forgotten tables served before us that arrived 20 minutes after us and rude staff. Then I have been and received quick and polite service! Can’t working out here! The meals lately seem to be slightly less in size and taste than they used to be. Even though its hit and miss its a local so I go back!

I gotta say… I really want to love this place. It’s has such a cute location and is conveniently close to where I live. The décor is cute, modern and very stylish with beautiful displays of cakes and cookies which catch your eye upon entering the premises. However, the service is some of the slowest I have experienced. And this alone is enough to put me off. I have returned many times to give credit to the staff at some of their busy periods but unfortunately even with an empty place I takes 15 mins to receive an «iced“latte. Simply not good enough for the price. The coffee isn’t bad but I get a better quality coffee at my local cibo.

Had agreed to meet friends for a casual lunch at The Nest, own a recent Friday. Because the day was a lovely one, weather wise, we chose to sit in the outside eating area, and were happily ensconced by about 12.30. A rather sullen looking waitress came and took our orders, all placed by 12.45, and, apart from delivering a jug of water to the table, as requested with the food order, no contact further contact was initiated until I went to enquire about the progress of our meal, at 1.20. I approached the waitress who took our order, who seemed to be very busy doing a lot of nothing, pointing out the long gap in time since ordering ordering, and was told she would check on the progress and let us know. She asked what table number we had been given. The answer«We weren’t given a number» but I directed her to where we were located and returned to my friends. At 1.25, I checked the time because of the wait we had already had to endure, she came out to tell us that the meals were 5 minutes away, no explanation or apology given, and left, unceremoniously plonking a stand with number on the table. At half past one, there was still no sign of anything remotely resembling our meals, although the few other diners that were also in the outdoor area had received theirs, and one of the males in the group decided to go in, once again, to make further enquiries. The same waitress then openly, and quite aggressively, reiterated, that the meal would be 5 minutes and when challenged about this time frame, which had lapsed 10 minutes previously, got quite surly. We waited until 1.40, still meal less and growing hungrier by the second and then finally did something that I have never, ever done before in my life. We walked out! We were told, as we exited, that the meals were ready to go but I’m afraid the damage had been done. I had been warned by friends who have eaten there on several occasions that the service is woeful and that they will never revisit. Well, here is another person, with three disappointed friends, who will likewise be looking to other eating establishments in the area rather than be put through a repeat Nest experience!

I’ve only visited Nest for coffee, sometimes with clients of my design business as it’s possible to find a big table to ourselves and spread papers out. The coffee is excellent, so no problem there. However, I think Nest is struggling a bit with the size of their tenancy. I suspect they are actually occupying two of the planned tenancies, and I’m not sure it’s doing them any favours from a functional point of view. It must be quite hard for staff to give good table service to tables spread out among plants and around corners. There’s also a vast outdoor area to watch. ‘Another coffee, gentlemen?’ is not something you hear at Nest, even though we would probably re-order. Being attached to a supermarket possibly doesn’t help their style of business. They seem to be a restaurant that serves coffee, but most of the passing trade is there to get the groceries, not idle away time over a meal. Nest doesn’t have the advantage of being in a restaurant or café strip, either. That could change, but with easy parking dependent on the shopping hours of Woolies’ big underground carpark, the change may not come. On the other hand, things could look up for Nest once the numerous apartments at The Watson a few dozen metres away are occupied. So perhaps all they have to do is hang on until then. The décor is interesting and a genuine exercise in design. Sparrows etc seem to like Nest too, flitting in and out looking for crumbs. Maybe they are attracted by the name of the place.

I wasn’t impressed by my first visit and my second wasn’t that much better. Both instances the café was practically empty(mid week brunch and a public holiday breakfast) yet orders took a considerable amount of time to arrive. Dining with my sister, they forget my juice and then took a further 20 minutes to make and bring it out to me, no apology either.(Believe me, it wasn’t worth the wait either, the large juice is rather on the small side, maybe large describes the price?) The staff seem like they wish they were elsewhere, which I can understand, but a little smile goes a long way. The food is good, and like others have mentioned, not bad but not fanastic either. I can’t imagine the atmosphere for dinner, considering it is situated in a shopping centre complex, but a quick coffee and catchup before doing a spot of shopping would be my recommendation. The décor is the saving grace and the main reason for my first visit(it seemed to be perfect assignment inspiration for my design student sister). If they cleaned tables in a reasonable amount of time instead of walking into an almost empty café with 3 – 4 tables full of dirty plates, the décor might be more impressive.

Arriving here just for a coffee, I noticed the nice décor, both inside and out. The staff took several minutes to get to me at the counter, which was mildly irksome considering I was one of three people in the restaurant and we were outnumbered by staff 2:1. I can’t rate the food here as I only ordered a coffee, but it was passable. What wasn’t passable was the ten minute wait I had for that coffee, including the person at the counter forgetting my order twice –_-. You had one job, dude! Anyway, for OK coffee with a fair amount of waiting, you’re welcome to try this place… I guess?

despite seeing negative reviews I thought I’d give this place a try… it’s at my local shopping centre and the menu looked good! I had no issues with the time my food took — I ordered Eggs Benedict and it was out in around 15 minutes(at the most). They were good… no better or no worse than any that I have had anywhere else. I enjoyed them, just as I do any breakfast that I have when I’m a little hungover and sleep deprived. The staff were generally friendly, albeit one girl looked like she had been out partying the night before… but that’s forgiven… we’ve all been there and she still managed to smile when required! I’ll be back — their broad menu of juice selections looks scrummy!

I’ve been here a couple of times since it opened last year. Service is really slow. At first I though it was because it was new and getting into routine. Unfortunately this is not the case. Coffee took 20 minutes to get to my table, yet there were only 4 tables occupied. This was during the day.

Despite the poor reviews here, I’ve not had troubles. Usually on a Saturday or Sunday for breakfast or Brunch, today was lunch. All the 5 different meals came quickly, good coffee and somewhat quiet atmosphere. One slight is the ‘large’ size juice isn’t that large for the size given.

I have been here a few times, and the meals are great. However, it often takes about half an hour or more for the food to come out.
