So I was very eager to try the ‘create your own’ burger but didn’t expect too much… I tried the brioche bun with a beef patty, pickle (yep just one, I’ll get back to that), tomatoes, BBQ sauce and chipotle mayo. The burger was actually really tasty and I thought it was an awesome concept, I love that I got to pick exactly what I wanted in it.
However, there was no option to increase the quantity of all ingredients in the burger, there was for some though. I assumed there would be more than one slice of pickle in my burger but even then I tried to increase the quantity, no such luck though. :(
The beef patty was tasty, the bun a bit oily with the glaze on it and all the ingredients fresh. It was presented like a café burger with the chips in a basket and the burger served on a board.
Nate R said its a great marketing strategy so Maccas can gain data on what customers like and what they want to buy — true, however, still a great idea!
The process is quite simple, go to the screen, choose your bum, ingredients and then if you want it in a meal or not — there is the choice of fries or a salad. Then you can choose your drink and it adjusts the price accordingly. Drinks range from the typical drinks of coke & lemonade to frozen cokes or coffees from McCafe. You are then take a number and sit down. The drinks are brought out first to your table and then the burgers and fries come out a short time later.
For $ 14.90 in a meal, it’s more expensive than a regular menu item in a meal but the taste difference is worth it; just as the sign outside describes!
The only change I would make is changing the quantity of ingredients :)
