The Green Garden

Delicious food! I highly recommend this restaurant even for non vegetarians. Cute small place with a nice interior and some outside tables near the university. If you’re staying in the old part of town it’s a quick walk through some of the less touristy streets. We were told to get reservations on a Wednesday (and were given the impression on the phone that we’re getting the last table) but it was only half full at 6:30pm when we arrived. Both regular pasta and wheat free pasta were great with friendly staff.

My husband and I visited The Green Garden on our vacation to Salzburg. We went on a Wednesday night and they were booked! However, they graciously made room for us at their counter. Thankfully, the staff spoke English (sadly we have not picked up German). They were very helpful and kind. Their food, although not traditional Austrian cuisine, was refreshing. I had the veggie burger and sweet potato fries with coriander sauce — both were excellent! This restaurant prides itself on vegan/​veggie cuisine and they definitely make it tasty! Thanks for the great meal in Salzburg!

Must go place for vegetarians in Salzburg. The food was delicious, presentation was rich and portion size decent. The server, the owner/​chef were very friendly. Excellent experience — will visit again!

So, I’ve been here before, about a year ago and even though I adore vegan cuisine I wasn’t impressed last time, the food was okay but I’ve had better. But I decided to give it a second chance because I was rather convinced that I just didn’t order the right thing.
We booked a table for dinner and were even able to sit outside (their outdoor seating area is really nice because Nonntal, the district where it’s located is super pretty, so make sure you can sit outside if the weather allows it), as an appetizer my friend and I shared tempura-​aspargus, served with two kinds of dips one of them being a strawberry-​mint one and it worked unexpectedly well with the vegetable.
We both ordered the eggplant-​hummus pizza and they told us that it would take a little longer since they have quite a few pizza orders in and not that much space in the oven which is totally understandable since they aren’t a pizza place or an italian restaurant… A big thumbs up for service and hospitality because they brought out a little amuse bouche after the appetizer to make up for the long wait for the pizza. A lemon/​basil sorbet in prosecco, oh my so good!
The pizza itself was good, a little too much hummus, but nevertheless delicious and we finished all of it.
All in all great service, good food and definitely an enrichment for Salzburg’s restaurant scene, it’s great to see some diversity between all the Austrian and Italian restaurants!

We were so thankful to find this restaurant! After the a couple of nights of heavy Austrian food, we finely found a fresh and healthy vegetarian restaurant. Not only was the food delicious, the staff, Jennifer and Bernd, were extremely kind, friendly and attentive. This restaurant is a short walk from Old Town. It’s a popular restaurant so you may want to call ahead. If you like delicious, fresh food, you need to try this restaurant!

Its a little pricey maybe. But the quality is so high that the prices are easily justified!

Essen sie einmal hier, essen sie immer wieder hier! Haben sie einmal trotz gewaltiger Vorfreude keinen Tisch mehr bekommen, reservieren sie in Zukunft. Tolles & kreatives Essen — eine Bereicherung für Salzburg!

«The Green Garden» se ha instalado en un rincón tranquilo y encantador de la ciudad antigua de Salzburgo, un poco apartado del guirigay turístico pero todavía céntrico. Para los días soleados (no tan frecuentes como les gustaría a muchos) tienen una pequeña terraza en la calle tranquila. El tráfico pasa ya desde hace décadas por otra parte.
Dentro ofrece una sala pequeña y muy mona en la bóveda antigua del edificio.
Pero lo que más me gustó era la carta. Este restaurante vegano y vegetariano ofrece unos platos tan originales y bien presentados — aparte de suculentos — que no sabes que pedir. Un descubrimiento ha sido el «Spritz con pepino» buenísimo. Huelga decir que todo lo preparan ellos mismos. Volveré a la primera ocasión.

Endlich kann man auf die Frage: wo kann man in Salzburg vegetarisch essen eine wirklich hochkarätige Adresse nennen.
Seit November 2013 gibt es das Lokal und wird von zwei sich selbst so bezeichnenden «Quereinsteigern» in die Gastronomie geführt. Das Lokal bietet ausschließlich vegetarische und auch sehr viele vegane Gerichte.
Der Chef ist im Service und seine Frau kocht und zahlt die Fixkosten (wie auf dem Bierdeckel ersichtlich ist). :)
Wir hatten Glück einen Platz zu bekommen, denn seit der Eröffnung ist das Lokal Abends aus-​reserviert, denn die beiden haben offenbar einen Nerv in Salzburg getroffen.
Das Lokal ist innen sehr liebevoll eingerichtet und man hat wirklich das Gefühl in einem lauschigen Garten zu sitzen, sehr passend also zum Titel.
Das Essen hat mich dann auch überzeugt. Jeder Gang von der Vorspeise bis zum Dessert war ausgezeichnet. Man beachte auch meine Fotos um zu sehen, wie liebevoll alles angerichtet wurde. Als Krönung gibts eine dunkle «Die Weisse» und auch eine sehr gute Weinauswahl.
Preislich ist das Lokal nicht günstig, aber man bekommt auch sehr viel geboten, also hoffe ich, dass es nicht teurer wird in nächster Zeit.
Kurz zusammengefasst, hier stimmt einfach alles: nette Leute, super Stimmung und ausgezeichnetes Essen.
Wir kommen wieder! Nächstes mal dann das 5-​Gang Menü mit Weinbegleitung.
Das Publikum ist übrigens bunt gemischt, keineswegs nur die «Alternativen», was auch immer das heißen mag, aber an dem Lokal sieht man, dass es kein Fleisch braucht um die Massen anzulocken.

Salzburgs jüngstes vegetarisch, veganes Restaurant. Abwechslungsreiche Speisekarte welche sich immer wieder mal ein wenig ändert. Das überaus freundliche, junge Paar ist mit ganzem Herzen bei der Sache. Die Gerichte sind ein Traum für alle die mal auf Fleisch, jedoch nicht auf Raffinesse verzichten möchten. Die Preise sind auf Salzburger Niveau, die Portionen könnten ein wenig größer sein. Ich freue mich jedenfalls über diesen neuen vegetarischen Treffpunkt. Vielen Dank, weiter so!
