Bio5

I am a lucky guy! I have healthy food options all around me here in Margareten. Maran’s Vegan Supermarket in the next district from mine is a twenty minute walk and Veganz Supermarket is just a few minutes walk up the Margaretenstraße. But it gets even better than that. Bio5 is only 30 seconds away… just around the corner on the Margaretenstraße (Ecke Pilgramgasse). I can walk to it in my sleep!
Naturally I use Bio5 the most. They have fresh vegetables, cheeses & meats, beans,& cereals, medicines and remedies, and dozens of other products including attractive pottery. I always get my favorite smoked tofu, my flax seeds, my cereals and my soy beans at this awesome store. And the service is super helpful and friendly. There is alternative lifestyle literature always available (as well as connections to alternative treatments & services) … but make sure you don’t accidentally take the owners’ business papers as one of the tables in the store serves as their office desk. Tip — the owners take a lunch break at 13:00 like in the olden days of Vienna.
Bio5 has been around for years — long before the other markets mentioned above and the wonderfully re-​conceptualized Margareten Culinarium across the street. I will always buy some stuff here because they don’t have the huge corporate backing and I want to support Bio5 as one of the pioneer stores in Vienna’s health food transformation. I’m kinda amazed that I am the first on Unilocal to review Bio5 after all these years … but whatever … give it some support. It’s a wonderful store to have 30 seconds away from where I live!
