Café Mozart

Tourist trap + dishonest. I went there for dinner and hot chocolate today and had an unpleasant experience. I ordered the «bread roll» item on the menu among other items. I was served a little basket containing 2 bread rolls. Assuming at this point that breadrolls came by 2, I ate both. I was charged 2 bread rolls, although I had ordered one. When I enquired about it, I was rather rudely told by my waiter «you ate two, you pay for two». This is the first place I have ever been to where they intentionally serve you more than you ask, and charge you more if you dare eat it all. I asked to speak to a supervisor, who gave me the same explanation as the waiter — from which we can infer that this strange if not dishonest practice is a house policy. While I spoke to the supervisor, the waiter talked about me in rude terms to another waiter and in front of other customers, thinking that I could not understand German.
Apart from that, the place itself is beautiful. The food was just okay however. In particular, my Goulash soup was way too salty. Hot chocolate was good.

Oh my, Austrian Coffee is a really special treat, and tastes more delicious than a vast majority of coffee drinks around where I am from with North America. Eiscaffee is a traditional exotic coffee drink blended with extra smooth ice cream, whipped cream, and wafers. Austria has the best coffee ever. I can’t get enough of those endlessly irresistible coffee ice cream drinks. They are very common all over the country.
Café Mozart’s main advantage is exact urban landscape region. Wow! Eclectic hypnotic architecture surrounding the café, and picture perfect. Illumination glows at the right frequency.
Embroidered seating wonderfully crafted details makes the seating resemble a traditional aura. Ultra fancy wealthy Palace feeling. Also, not too pretentious simultaneously.
I wonder how touristy is Café Mozart? Residential dominant or close to a tourist trap sanctuary zone.
All of the desserts are ultimate indulgence, other than the coffee drinks. They have more than enough of an eclectic menu. Technically, there is wireless internet wifi and I hope enough people use the resource, especially outside of the summer months. Despite any situation, happy vibes are around with a pleasant entertaining magical story to unfold at everyone’s lives.

If you’ve never had Viennese apple strudel before, this is the place to go for your inaugural dessert.
Sure, it’s five euros an espresso and touristy as hell, but it’s an experience; you really get the feeling that people of note have been sipping mélange and discussing matters of state for decades if not centuries.
Oh, and make sure you order it hot!

Admittedly, this place is a little gimmicky. But I don’t care. Everything about this restaurant-​the food, coffee, ambience, and the location-​is amazing. I came here with a group of six on a sweltering day in mid-​July. We were promptly seated outside, but the tables had large umbrellas to shield us from the sun.
They give you a basket of bread, which was perfect. My favorite has always been Kaisersemmel. I ordered the eiskaffee (with ice cream), since it was so hot outside. It was perfect, and very pretty! It looked exactly like the picture in the menu. For lunch, I ordered the wiener schnitzel, because when in Rome, I guess. It ended up being a great decision, as the portion was very generous. The schnitzel was delicious and cooked beautifully. The potatoes were tangy and tasty.
The restaurant was extremely crowded (it’s a very popular tourist destination), yet our server was very quick, cheerful and efficient. He joked a little with us, making us feel welcome. I wish I could remember his name! Our food came very quickly as well; we didn’t have a long wait at all. When our server asked us how everything tasted, we enthusiastically replied that everything was perfect. He seemed genuinely delighted to hear this.
It was a magical experience that I will always remember. Simply writing this review is making me feel sentimental and nostalgic. I miss Vienna and I will definitely be revisiting this café when I go back.

Came here on a hot sunny day in Summer. Although it’s quite busy with tourists as it is really close to the opera, this is a solid café with a great selection of coffees and cakes.
I ordered the Turkish coffee which came in a cool copper tin. Also had the apple strudel with ice cream which was huge and had just the right mix of Apple and cinnamon.
With a diet coke it came to € 13 — really good price for what could easily be a tourist trap, great quality too. I would recommend.

I ate a late lunch at the Café Mozart in Vienna, Austria on 6÷25÷2015. It was my 1^st time there. A beautiful café with excellent food and service. My bill came out to $ 42.63 in USD. Their weinerschnitzel was excellent. Plus, I took photos.

Terrible service, mediocre food, can’t say anything positive about the place unfortunately. The location of the place is okay since it’s right next to the opera.

…unglaubliche Frechheit:
Konsumation: 2x Aperol (zu € 7,50 — in Worten sieben Euro und fünfzig Cent — quasi 100 Schilling das Stück !!!)
Dann noch ein Glas Wasser — und die Frechheit dafür noch 1 Euro zu verlangen, mit dem Kommentar, dass dies günstig sei, weil ohne Konsumation hätte es doch 1,50 Euro gekostet (!)
Fazit: Nie wieder — und bitte weiter erzählen — eine

Excellent place. Good authentic food and friendly service. Try them out. We were here for breakfast and service was fast. Croissants and the rest of the baked goods were super fresh.

My friends and I used to come regularly to this place on the weekends for a sweet breakfast. Tourist-​magnet though this place may be, wait times to be seated aren’t too long, and whenever they have outdoor seating, the waits are nominal (if that). The service is consistently courteous and the food is very good. We particularly like the Kaiserschmarrn, which we find to be one of the best in the city. Landtmann’s carries the reputation, but this one is virtually the same, but better: equally delicate and fluffy, but better presented, to our perception a bit bigger in size, and accompanied by two dipping sauces (plum stew, as at Landtmann, and applesauce).
We’re also very fond of the steak sandwich, which at € 15 might be a little overpriced, but then again the taste is great. It’s an open-​face sandwich with toast (buttery and firm), guacamole, herb butter, a hefty chunk of sirloin (usually served medium to medium-​well) and an egg, with mixed greens tossed in a light, savory dressing.
I’m also very much in favor of their Topfenknödel, a giant dumpling made of Topfen (aka Quark; i.e., curd cheese; i.e., something that tastes a lot better than it sounds) and breadcrumbs sitting on stewed warm berries. The berry stew is not heavily sugared, so it leans tart. The Topfen dumpling is also slightly tart; on the whole, though, this dessert is quite soft (even soothing) on your stomach and a perfect followup to the steak sandwich.
They carry a selection of sweets and desserts made at Landtmann. I had a chocolate cone with strawberries and strawberry yogurt in it; nothing special about it, but it was not bad at all.
The Mélange (a Viennese cappuccino) is also very good; better than the Mélange that you will get at, say, Julius Meinl in Chicago.
Food doesn’t usually take too long to get to your table. I haven’t asked for tap water yet (do so while in Vienna; the tap water there is as good as it gets), but if you don’t specify that, the regular glass-​bottle water can be expensive.
As touristy Viennese cafes go, I think Mozart has pretty good food sans the snooty service. It is surprisingly accessible and well-​run. That said, do expect tourist-​trap-​level prices.

We came here for breakfast, and had the scrambled eggs with ham and cheese.
The waiter was very polite and helpful, which is not something you see everyday in Vienna. The athmosphere was great. Overall a great experience. Thank you, Mozart!

Hab heute wieder mal im Café Mozart vorbeigeschaut. Eigentlich wie immer — guter Kaffee, gute Mehlspeisen, nettes Kaffeehausambiente, versierte Kellner. Somit eine Konstante am Wiener Kaffeehaushimmel — 5 Sterne wenns nur das wäre.
Aber schön langsam glaube ich die Preise dort werden jährlich pauschal um € 1.- angehoben. Zumindest bei Kaffee und Mehslpeisen… Ok, wer dorthin geht muss auch mit hohen Preisen rechnen, aber € 5,50 für den Verlängerten??? Bei einem Wareneisatz von unter € 0,20??? Ich habe wirklich Verständnis für die Kosten der Gastronomie und Qualität hat ihren Preis, aber schön langsam überspannt sich dort der Bogen ein wenig. Vielleicht sollte man einmal ein Jahr auslassen mit der «Vorrückung»…

Rufen Sie «Tourist» und treten Sie ein!
Ja, das Café Mozart muss man gesehen haben. Nein, heimisch muss man dort nicht werden.
Die Preise sind selbst für Innenstadtverhältnisse extrahoch, hier geht’s eben besonders gediegen zu. Das muss nicht jedermann mögen — aber wenn Sie Wiener Originale suchen wird’s hier eng — dafür spielt man Ihnen hier genau das prototypische Klischeebild vor.
Probieren geht über studieren.

So it was recommended that while in Austria we must try Topfenstrudel. Why not try a fancy looking place! The strudel was amazing! Very rich and sufficient for one between two. Service was top notch and they could tell straight away we were English speakers. The only downside was the price, especially things like coffees etc… but what do you expect when you go to somewhere with such a name directly across from the main tourism office in Vienna!

I love this place. In the past year I went here 3 times. I love the Wienerschnitzel. The portion size is Huge! Potatoes and lingonberries also quite good. The desserts and coffee are also top notch. I will be back there again! Afenstrudel, and cakes very good. The price might be more than some other places, but I really like the food. I also got excellent service here every time. Its an amazing place. Not only the huge assortment of newspapers but if you go online (free wifi) they have digital papers you can read for free. I am not an expert on all food in Vienna but I really love it!

Went for late dinner after the opera. Very nice little place. Really liked the waiter who was excellent, friendly & attentive. Mix of locals & a few tourists like us. Food very good. Husband got the hot chocolate with rum for desert, which was great.

This is a great café right at the center of downtown Munich. Great atmosphere. They are famous for Sacher torte cake and Chocolate Mousse. I can recommend the weinerschnitzel or the viennese fried chicken.

We stopped by here for dessert after roaming around all over Vienna for a full day site seeing. We ordered the Strawberry Mousse Cone and an apple strudel to share. Both were incredible, although I was a little partial to the Strawberry Mousse.
The apple strudel was like a hot apple pie that tasted incredible. The crust was a flaky and buttery heaven. It doesn’t look incredibly large, but it is definitely big enough to share. It’s quite a dense, little, delicious pastry.
The other thing we ordered was one of the strawberry mousse. The dish was served in a large chocolate dipped waffle cone with fresh strawberries, almonds, and pieces of cake mixed into the cone. Absolutely incredible! It’s refreshing enough to where a single person could definitely eat the whole thing. However, it was definitely much more fun to share.

Das Café Mozart gehört zur Querfeldt Gruppe, sozusagen ein zweites Café Landtmann. Es hat eine sehr schöné und zentrale Lage hinter der Oper und gegenüber der Albertina. Das Personal klassisch in schwarzem Anzug und im Service nur männliche Bedienung. Die Preise sind schon in der gehobenen Klasse und nicht sehr günstig. Aber die Torten, Kuchen und Speisen von sehr guter Qualität .Was man aber auch in dieser Preisklasse absolut erwarten kann.
Also für einen entspannten Kaffeehausbesuch immer geeignet.

Delicious! If you are in Vienna, you owe it to yourself to come to Mozart café. The first time I came I had the caramel torte and a creamy mocha. Both were filling and delicious. The torte had layers of soft caramel and topped with a caramel crust fudge.
I couldn’t keep away and had to come back on my final day in Vienna. I ordered the Chicken salad and elderflower soda as my lunch. The salad was okay– the chicken cutlets on top were slightly dry and took away from the salad. It was two 7inch pieces of breaded chicken cutlets on top of a green salad. Not the best. But the real treat was dessert. I took the plunge and got the hazelnut cream dessert. It was huge and I couldn’t finish it. The outside was a paste of hazelnut with a smokey under taste and opened to a whipped hazelnut cream.
I definitely recommend the Café Mozart!

Da uns auf unserem Marsch durch Wien der A**** abgefroren ist, wollten wir uns einfach nur kurz aufwärmen und eine schöné Mélange trinken. Als wir vom Burggarten Richtung Stephansplatz unterwegs waren (übrigens schöner Name für einen Platz ;)), haben wir das das Café Mozart gesehen.
Schnell rein, platziert worden und kurz darauf war die Bestellung schon getätigt. Danach ein Blick in die Karte: die Mélange kostet 4,90! Meiner Meinung nach schon fast unverschämt!
Aber mit den Touristen kann man es ja machen, die zahlen ja fast alles.
Zumindest war der Kaffee gut und der Service schnell und freundlich. Außerdem gefällt mir die Einrichtung.
Aber sehen wird mich das Café Mozart nicht mehr

While in Vienna one needs to visit at least one of the old beautiful cafés. It won’t be inexpensive, but it is still a nice experience. We only had to wait about 5 minutes for a seat. Our waiter was very nice and fun, too. Our food was excellent: two coffees, one hot chocolate, Esterhazy torte, and apfelstrudel (total was € 33). I also didn’t feel that I was being rushed out the door as I did at the Sacher.

Wir wollten erst ins Sacher gehen und als es da zu voll war sind wir ins Mozart Café gegangen. Hier haben wir auch eine Sachertorte gegessen. Der Service war OK aber man hat gemerkt das die Bedienung zeitweise sehr angespannt war. Die Sachertorte und der Kaffee waren sehr lecker.
Kommen gerne wieder und ist eine Alternative zum Sacher Café.

Wir wollten eigentlich ins SAcher und haben erst beim bestellen gemerkt das wir im Mozart sind. Das Mozart ist sozusagen im Erdgeschoss vom SAcher mit großer Terasse.
Wir haben 2 Mélange und KAiserschmarrn bestellt und es war ausgezeichnet und lecker.
Die besprühung mit Wasser aus den Schirmen ist echt sehr erfrischend und wir haben sowas auch noch nirgends anders geshen. Gute Idee.
Wenn man dann einen Blick hinein wirft ist man auch positiv überrascht von der schönen Einrichtung
Nur wenn man auf Toilette geht, fühlt man sich wie in einem Wirtshaus, wo die Toilettenfrau mit irem Teller dasitzt und scheppert, damit ma ja auch was zahlt dafür.

Wir wollten ja eigentlich ins Hotel Sacher und haben uns sozusagen in der Tür geirrt, da das Café Mozart direkt nebenan liegt! :) Auf der Terrasse sitzt man wirklich gemütlich und die Kuchen und Torten, die man sich in der Vitrine angucken kann sind wirklich zu schön zum Essen. Probiert haben wir trotzdem eine Himbeer-​Vanille-​Torte, einen Apfelstrudel, eine Sachertorte und einen Topfenstrudel und alle waren wirklich gut. Die Torten sahen mir aber leider etwas zu perfekt ausich meine, sie sehen toll aus und haben auch gut geschmeckt, aber mir schmeckt’s besser, wenn ich wirklich sehe das die Sachen handgemacht sind mit ein paar kleinen Fehlern. Der Kaffee war ebenfalls gut, nur die Preise sind sehr gehoben, typisch für die Landtmann-​Kette eben. Ehrlich gesagt habe ich schon bessere Kuchen für die Hälfte Preis gegessen

Wer direkt bei diversen Tourizielen einen Kaffee trinken mag, der muß halt auch mit höheren Preisen rechnen. Ein schöner und belebter Platz für‘s Päuschen zwischendurch. Man hat viel zu gucken und die kleinen Erbeertörtchen schmecken himmlisch!

Nicht zu fassen, da geht man extra nicht ins Sacher sondern ins Mozart in der Annahme, dass das gar nicht sein kann. und was muss man erfahren ?
Es gibt hier keime Mozartkugel und die Bedienung weiss nicht mal was das ist ?!?

Sehr angenehmer Außenbereich, ruhiger als beim Sacher. Mozarttorte war fein, Mélange leider nicht (beim Demel besser). Service freundlich und schnell.

Hinter der Oper und ums Eck von berühmten Hotel Sacher, ein großes extrem elegantes Café mit großem Außenbereich zum looksee und/​oder bloß zum Genießen.
Zum erstenmal habe ich eine neuartige Technik gesehen, die Gäste zu erfrischen: von den großen Schirmen sprühte duftendes Wasser in die Luft. Das tat an diesem heißen und staubigen Tag echt gut, genau wie die exzellente Torte und der türkische Mokka, den man hier echt mal probiert haben muss — wo auch immer der Blutdruck vorher war, wenn man den getrunken hat, ist er bei 160 und man ist knallwach.
Die Gäste auf dem sehr vollen Außenbereich (im Sacher ums Eck wird gerade umgebaut und das scheuchte wohl auch noch einige hierher) waren eine mehrsprachige Mischung von Teenie bis Greis, von Achselshirt mit goldfarbenen Schlappen (doch, die trug ein Mann!) bis zum eleganten Trotteurkostümchen bzw. Dreiteiler. Es gab sogar Herrschaften mit Pleureusehütchen bzw. Borsalino zu bestaunen.
Die Bedienungen waren — wie bei einem Preis von 4,70 pro Tortenstück und 5,50 für Mokka zu erwarten — flink, sehr freundlich und umsichtig. Man fühlte sich wirklich als Gast.
Sehr zu empfehlen, Sparen kann man ja wieder, wenn man NICHT in Urlaub ist.

Kaffeehaus mit dem üblichen «Wien 1. Bezirk Aufschlag» aber mit absolut fixem
Personal im Smoking — weiße Tischdecken, Kaffee auf dem Tablett serviert dazu der echte Wiener Schmäh vom «Hrn. Ober» — dafür gibt man dann auch ohne schlechtes Gewissen das doppelte der bayerischen Kaffeehauspreise aus. Aber… für den wahnwitzigen Wienzuschlag gibt’s dann doch nur 3 statt 4 Sterne!

Theoretisch ist es das Café, in dem ein wichtiger Teil des Films Der Dritte Mann gedreht wurde. Die Betonung liegt aber hier auf theoretisch. Praktisch durfte im Film nur der Name herhalten. Die Szenen selbst wurden ein paar Schritte weiter in der Nähe der Kaisergruft beim Neuen Markt gedreht und dort hat es auch nicht wirklich ein Kaffeehaus gegeben — geschweige denn gibt es dort eins.
Dennoch gehört das Café Mozart zu den netteren Kaffeehäusern in Wien. Ich selbst sitze im Sommer gern mal im Gastgarten, obwohl ich zugeben muss, dass es immer gestopft voll von Touristen ist. Aber das ist eh klar. Sind doch die Albertina und einige andere Touristenattraktionen gleich in der Nähe. Die Preise sind halt dann dementsprechend geschmalzen. So ist es halt dann, dass ich in erster Linie auf ein Getränk hier her komme.
Ein Kuriosum sei hierbei noch erwähnt. Und zwar, dass sich das Cafè Mozart die Toilette mit dem gleich ums Eck liegenden australischen Pub Crossfield’s teilt. Eine Tatsache, die man dann beachten muss, wenn man sicher wieder im Café landen will. Den falschen Ausgang erwischt und man landet wirklich auf der anderen Seite — in good old Australia.

Leckerer Apfelstrudel und guter Kaffee. Hier kann man schön am Albertinaplatz sitzen, gutes Wetter genießen und es sich gut gehen lassen. Allerdings ziemlich ordentliche Preise (knapp 10 EUR für Mélange und Strudel), eben ein Touri-​Café.
Aber immerhin: Es gibt ein öffentliches WLAN am Albertinaplatz ;)

Direkt gegenüber der Albertina ist das Café Mozart. Hier machen viele Touristen aufgrund der zentralen Lage einen Zwischenstopp, das Café ist jedoch auch für Wiener attraktiv.
Ein kurzer Blick in die Vitrine mit den zahlreichen Mehlspeisen reicht um zu wissen, dass man hier genau richtig ist.
Das Café Mozart zählt zu den traditionellen Alt Wiener-​Kaffeehäusern, dementsprechend ist auch die Innenausstattung, sehr gemütlich und klassisch wienerisch.
Im Sommer lädt ein sehr großer Schanigarten dazu ein, den Kaffee im Freien zu genießen — hier hat man einen direkten Blick auf die Albertina. Einen Museumsbesuch in der Albertina könnte man gut mit einem schmackhaften Mélange oder Einspänner im Café Mozart verbinden.
In diesem Café erhält man natürlich auch Hauptgerichte, besonders die Mittagsmenüs sind reizvoll.
Auch das Frühstück, welches es hier bis 15.00 gibt, ist hervorragend.

Der 1.1. — ein Neujahrsfrühstück im Café Mozart — echt ein tolles Erlebnis.
Natürlich sind die Preise im oberen Segment angesiedlet, befindet sich das Café doch in der Nähe der Oper und der Albertina.
Ich hatte ein erweitertes Wiener Frühstück (Schinken, Käse, Butter, Frischkäse, Marmelade, ein weiches Ei und Kaffee), Gebäck ist extra zu zahlen (handgemachte Semmeln, Kornweckerl, sehr große Briochekipferl). Zusammen mit einem Mineral zahlte ich insgesamt EUR 16,40 — aber das finde ich durchaus angemessen für dieses Ambiente, die Freundlichkeit der Kellner und die tolle Lage des Cafes.

Die Lokation ist einmalig, der Schanigarten im Sommer ebenfalls. Leider sind auch die Preise entsprechend wahnsinnig, wobei das sowieso für alle Lokale des Querfeld-​Imperiums (Landtmann, Residenz, Hofburg,…) gilt. Mélange, Hot Chocolate, Tortenstücke jeweils z.B. um EUR4.40.
Die Qualität des Personals macht aber vieles wett und die Touris bekommen ebenso wie die Einheimischen eine fast schon zu freundliche Behandlung. Die Sachertorte im Mozart schmeckt mir persönlich besser als das Original gleich um’s Eck
