DO & CO Albertina

We reserved for 10 p.m. And so it was not crowded. The food was good but not spectacular. The service wavered between inattentive to rude. We never seemed to have one person assigned to our needs. We had to get up and pour our own wine! The host had touted the in season chanterelles but two waiters seemed not to know that we could order as an appetizer. Very odd. They were in a hurry to have our order but thereafter forgot us for much of the evening. Never again tho we had a great meal there two years ago.

Das Restaurant ist sehr gut gelegen. Wir sassen draussen ab warmen und schönem Sommerabend. Das Personal war sehr aufmerksam, die Speisen sehr interessant zusammengestellt.
Ich hatte Fisch als Vor– und Hauptspeise und war echt sehr zufrieden.

A mixed review. The food is presented as small works of art, which seems appropriate in an art museum of this level. Food: 5. It is pretty expensive, which i should expect at a place like this. Price: $$$$. Atmosphere: quite classy, but why did they have to seat us at a table in the bright sunshine, when others (admittedly larger) were free?
If you go here, be forewarned: the word «Gedeck» (3.50 euros) on the left side of the menu means you’ll be charged for bread and butter, without being asked. Fortunately, I speak German, so I had a serious talk with the manager, who felt led to teach me about central European customs. Thank you for the lesson, but it doesn’t line up with the customs I’ve learned elsewhere. I told him I thought it was quite problematic, and he said he’d remove the charge, which he did. Call me a cheap American, but that practice isn’t transparent. I’d suggest going elsewhere close by, for example the Palm House restaurant, just below it in the park. German speakers say «das Auge isst mit» (the eyes eat as well), but my eyes weren’t particularly hungry today.

Die Adresse ist natürlich schwer zu toppen. Angenehmes Ambiente nicht überkandidelt. Sehr aufmerksamer Service. Abwechslungsreiche internationale Küche gut gemacht aber nicht extravagant. Schöné Auswahl an Weissweinen zu angemessenen Preisen. Schade dass die Rotweinauswahl sehr begrenzt unfd von den Preisen her überzogen war. Das geht noch besser. Wir kommen aber gerne wieder.

Beim Namen DO & CO schwingt natürlich für jeden Österreich gleich eine gewisse Grundehrfurcht mit, kennt man die Marke doch als hervorragende gastronomische Nummer. Das Restaurant in der Albertina ist von der Lage her nicht mehr zu toppen mit Blick auf Burggarten und Oper fühlt man sich wie der Kaiser von Österreich. Letztens habe ich auch die Speisekarte getestet und kann einfach nicht weniger als 5 Sterne verteilen. Vom exzellenten Service bis zur stilvollen aber nicht präpotenten Einrichtung über die grandiose Karte (mein Uruguay Beef war eins der besten Steaks die ich je hatte) bis zu den für die Qualität sehr zivilen Preise stimmt hier alles.

This restaurant is one of the best in town. Simple and yet exciting — meals covering different cuisines including asian, austrian, turkish etc. It may be on the more expensive side, but its well worth it. Every meal is a delight, and i wouldn’t be ashamed taking any foreign friend here for dinner. Give it a try and i promise you wont be disappointed! (If the weather is nice be sure to reserve a place on the terrace which offers an amazing view of the «Stephansdom»)

Das Essen ist nicht so innovativ wie bei Do&Co Haas-​Haus, aber trotzdem ziemlich gut. Das Konzept ist etwas anders, eben populärer. Es gibt also auch z.B. Wiener Schnitzel, aber auch Kreationen.
Bei Schönwetter sollte man unbedingt danach trachten auf der Terrasse zu sitzen. Sie ist absolut idyllisch, schön und ruhig; und trotzdem mitten in der City! Das Frühstück ist auch hervorragend und sehr stilvol.

Dieses Restaurant lässt Feinspitzherzen höher schlagen.
Das stylisch, moderne Ambiente und die internationale Küche lassen die Gäste eine angenehme Zeit verbringen. Das Personal ist lobenswert gut ausgebildet und die meiste Zeit freundlich auch wenn es manches Mal zu langsam bzw. unaufmerksam wirkt.
Preislich gehoben, für die Qualität allerdings keineswegs nicht zu viel.
Im Sommer lockt die Terrasse im Freien zum gemütlichen Speisen. Mit der zentralen und wunderschönen Lage ist das Do&Co Albertina ein toller Ort um eine genussvolle Zeit zu verleben.

Ok, here’s the deal.
1. Go in the summer for brunch and make a reservation for outdoors. Splendid.
2. Only look at the right side of the menu. That’s right. Right side. Everything on the left is about 20 Euros, and trust me, you’ll be just as happy with the omelette, fruit and pastry issues on the left side.
3. Check, but do not say yes to the bread they automatically put down on your table. Seems if you accept it, you’re paying for it. Say waaa??? But check that cause i left before the final bill.
So why the 4 stars?
One, its nice. No the bathroom so much, that’s fine. But the atmosphere, especially if you can get a table outside is pretty damn nice.
Two, the salmon omelette. And typically I don’t even like omelettes. However, I love salmon and it also had avocado, so I thought, eh? why not. Turned out to be an excellent price; you’re definitely full off of it for under 6 Euros, and it is so fresh… every time I’ve had it. Just perfect.
Coffee at around 4 Euros. Some look all fancy. Its an ok cup in terms of taste.
So, go. Make sure you’re not paying for your friends, and have a nice chat outside. Its also a flight upstairs, so you feel outside the city and its nice and tranquil. And that’s why my friends, 4 stars.

The spot is argueably one of the better ones you can find in the centre of Vienna. Me and a friend of mine decided to try the place out for a coffee and a dessert. We got greeted by a young man in a suit — our server for the afternoon. The coffee and pastries were served to us quickly and it tasted quite good too. However, we noticed that the server didn’t reply to our «thank you», in fact he did not make eye contact at the time and left without saying a word.
After slowly finishing our coffee and pastries we thought it was time to ask for the check and be on our way, since we had to get to our bus that would depart from the Praterstern within an hour or so. But it became evident that our server, and every other server at Albertina, completely ignored us and mostly rushed back and forth to one of the few tables that were occupied in the outside serving area.
The business was slow but they still managed to send 5 – 6 servers to one of the tables. As time went by (45 min to be precise), I finally decided to go inside and pay the bill. The server almost had no recollection of our order and after I refreshed her memory she declined my credit card. The reason being credit cards were only accepted from big spenders. Instead I payed in cash and left the snobby eaterie with a taste of disgust and humiliation.

Wer Kunst geniessen will und gleichzeitig auch die hohe Kunst des Kochens und Geniessens vortrefflich in sich vereint wissen will, ist hier an der richtigen Stelle: das Do & Co Albertina bietet einen gepflegten und sehr erfeulichen Rundumservice. Die Meisterwerke der heimischen und internationalen Kochkunst findet man hier vor sich auf dem Teller, wie ich mich anlässlich einer Geburtstagsfeier selbst überzeugen konnte. Auch ein entsprechender Tischschmuck und ein abgestimmtes Menü können hier geordert werden — ein sehr überzeugendes Stück Wiener Gastlichkeit begegnet einem hier, ohne gekünstelt zu wirken.

Sehr fein — auf der Terrasse sitzt man wirklich schön. Vorher ein Besuch in der Albertina und dann hier noch einen kleinen Happen — perfekt!
Aber nicht billig, das stimmt.
Nur hab ich noch nie einen SO guten Mohr im Hemd gegessen — mit Zitronengras Sorbet, wirklich köstlich. Und für knappe 7 EURO ok
Eine sehr nette Bedienung und gar nicht typisch österreichisch genervt sondern sehr zuvorkommend.
Als mein Freund noch kurz das Örtchen aufsuchte, bin ich schon mal (ohne sein Wissen) vor die Tür. Als er zurück kam und wieder an den Platz wollte, zeigte die Bedienung sehr freundlich vor die Terasse, wo ich stand — er hatte uns zuordnen können. Das fand ich beeindruckend, wo uns doch 3 Kellner bedient hatten ;-)

Klarerweise versnobt, klarerweise überteuert.
Es gibt aber leider Situationen wo genau so eine Art von Lokalität notwendig ist und da ist das Do&Co in der Albertina eindeutig die bessere Alternative zum Lokal am Stephansplatz.
Warum?
Tolle Terrasse, tolle Aussicht. Weniger Promis.
Nach meinem subjektiven Empfinden ist auch das Service in der Albertina besser als am Stephansplatz.
Qualität der Speisen ist an beiden Standorten gut.

Im Sommer ist die Terrasse mit dem Blick über den Burggarten ein wunderschöner Ort zum Frühstücken oder für einen Kaffee oder einen Drink zwischendurch Preise natürlich hauptstadtentsprechend. Ambiente? Natürlich Touristen aber so ist das nun einmal.

Rien de transcendant. C’est du Café Coste à Vienne !

Wir hatten einen wunderbaren Lunch auf der Terrasse — zwei klassische Wienergerichte: eimal Wiener Schnitzel und einmal Schinkenfleckerl. Beide Speisen waren ausgesprochen lecker und eine Augenweide. Auch die Weinliste ist liebevoll zusammengestellt.
Achtung! Es werden nicht alle Kreditkarten akzeptiert (nur Visa).

J’adore le Do&Co de l’Albertina. Le cadre est magnifique: on est en plein centre historique de Vienne, au sein du bâtiment du musée! On peut y aller en hiver tout comme en été. L’hiver c’est l’endroit idéal pour se reposer et se réchauffer après une petite ballade dans le 1er arrondissement de Vienne en prenant un café (le café Latte) et l’été la terrasse est plus que séduisante. A tester absolument: le brunch. Un délice! Et le service est vraiment top.
