I’m not usually a huge mid day meal person. Typically when at home, I have what one would consider a normal lunch about once a week. But this rule completely changes when I am on vacation. I think this might be due to the fact that I walk everywhere. I have never done the math, but I figure I burn more calories touristing rather than sitting at home Unilocaling. With this being said, eating a healthy sized lunch while on holiday is standard practice. After a long morning of running around Antwerpen, we were in need of a major calorie kick. This place was literally a half a stones throw from the church we just visited so we popped in for a bite. The interior was older, but very inviting. We checked in with the host who found us a table for three upstairs overlooking the main dining room. From my vantage point I could check out the bar and scope out the beer selection. Our waiter arrived at our table and took our drink orders. I already decided on which beer I would have and my wife and our friend went with glasses of white wine. Not long after he came back with two glasses of French viognier and a Kwak for me and of course as always, served in the proper glass. For our entrees, I went with the croque madam, my wife the mussels and frites, and our friend had a garden salad. All were good and did the trick and helped get our bodies going for the afternoon. The service was attentive and friendly. Sitting upstairs is a bit cramped, and maybe if the weather had been a little warmer we would have preferred to sit outside and give us a bit more room to stretch out. This is not a place I would specifically seek out, but I would have no problem coming to again if in the area.
