Great place. The food was amazing. The staff was awesome. I will recomend this restaurant.

Concierge suggested us this place. And if not for him, we wouldn’t have found it walking around. I mean it’s not on the central street and not very noticeable. There were all locals, not much of tourists. Good that they have menu translated in English. Very tiny place and very simply decorated. It’s a great location for seafood — the freshest we had in town. To start we ordered Ceviche of white fish. It was freshest raw fish marinated just how it’s supposed to be — in a lightly lemon sauce with some spices. Served with sweet potato chips. Then were oysters au gratin. It was their way of what we know as Oysters Rockefeller, but a bit different. Oysters were deliciously baked with cheese and their secret sauce. Then we took their specialty — A seafood garden — a lot of delicious seafood on top of the rice. Actually it was more of the seafood and the rice was hidden somewhere in the bottom. There were shrimps, scampi, octopus, clams, mussels, calamari and few olives. It was very delicate, appetizing and sipid. Of course they have spaghetti, meat dishes, fish, chicken and a lot of other options for your dinner, but I suggest you take seafood or fish, you won’t regret. Not very huge wine list, but a good selection of wine for very reasonable prices. Argentinian Sauvignon Blanc pretty well suited to all our chosen dishes. The service was good and well-timed. The waiters were talking using headphones and hands-free devices with the kitchen, I never saw this before.

From appetizer to entrees, our group of 5 loved it. The manager is super helpful in explaining the differences between items. The crawfish pastry was bomb. Basically it’s a $ 1.50 empanadas filed with delicious seafood flavor. All of us wanted a second round. Portions of the entrees were huge. Five of us ordered two pot of seafood stew w beans and one coconut stew and couldn’t finish.

One of the best restaurants in Copacabana! We ordered the paella, the crab stew, and the lobster with shrimp and rice and that fed all 5 of us with some left overs. Excellent service as well. It’s quite cheap for spending dollars, but quite pricey for locals. For the 5 dishes with 3 drinks and 1 soda, the tab was R$ 670.

Mediocre food. Seafood appetizer was calamari, octopus, and shrimp. Shrimp was covered in mayo. Calamari lacked flavor/seasoning. Octopus was the only saving grace of the entire meal, but then again too many onions. Filet mignon entrée looked like it was 4 oz for 65 real! Complete rip-off. I’ve gotten bigger filets for a plate of the day at a lanchonette. Also the place smells weird. Would not recommend.

This was a great meal. We had the shrimp pastel and the shrimp with garlic and oil. Both were very good. They have this saucy oil which had a kick and added to the food. For mains we had the grilled lobster and rice with shrimp and the salmon steak with shrimp sauce. Hands down the lobster was the best. A bit over cooked but still very good. All in all the experience was good. Only down side was that they did not have some of the menu items. This place is really a 4.5!

This was probably the best food we eat in Rio! We got two entrees and dessert and split them between the three of us. One was the pineapple shrimp and rice the other was the Paella. The shrimp and pineapple is almost like a lighter curry without the hot spice and the grilled pineapple pieces just give it this amazing flavor that takes it over the edge. Definitely my favorite dish!

I had good ceviche and shrimp pallella. The portions are large and can serve 3 people easily. The best was the friendly staff! We came on the recommendation of another American family! Two drinks, palella, and ceviche was about $ 70, so it is far from inexpensive.

I had the Filet de salmão grelhado com molho de camarão. I found it to be very good. The price was around 60 reales.($ 20). My wife ad the Polenta de frutos do mar, this dish was also very good, and around the same price. I would recommend this place any time. Be aware he has 2 locations. We got confused at first.

Went here with a group of friends after a friend had eaten here the night before and loved her experience. So, I would say, we went in with pretty high expectations(which might not have helped). This is a small-ish seafood restaurant in Copacabana. They have paella, all sorts of fish dishes and prawns, plus lobster. We ordered a paella, seafood pasta, small moquequinha(which came with toast) and pastels. We started with 3 pastel of prawn with catupiry and one plain prawn pastel. Once they came, it was cold. The outside was warm, but the prawns themselves were cold. So we complained and they changed them right away. When they brought out the new order, it was hot, however, they brought 4 siri(crab) ones. So, we let them know, and they brought out 3 actual prawn with catupiry. They were ok. I think we were impressed and happy by the mere fact that the service took the time to check and make all the changes. The main dishes were not bad, but not out of this world amazing. The paella was filled with seafood — mussels, lagostinha, shrimp and clams. and the Seafood pasta we shared but could easily feed one person with a good appetite. Dessert we ordered the brownie and petit gâteau. Out of the two, we preferred the brownie :)

Moqueca of Seafood is absolutely fantastic! The coconut flavor mixed with the seafood and tomato creates a wonderful experience. They have a two person version that ones with rice but I had the small plate and it was plenty. It came with rosemary salted toast tips and they were a perfect complement. My son enjoyed the spaghetti(«the best dad!») and the meat sauce. All in all a great place with ample seating and an attentive staff.

Walked past this place many a times since it’s near my place. Finally decided to walk in today. I didn’t get past the third page of the menu :) I ordered a shrimp and catupiry pastel, 6 fresh oyster with lime and a bowl of seafood soup. Oysters came first. A bit on the small side, but it was properly chilled and paired with the lime, very refreshing. Pastel came while I was having my oysters. Pastry can be lighter but the filling was good — decent sized shrimps in it. Seafood food — it hits the spot. Mix of shrimps, octopus, mussels in a creamy moqueca soup. Served with really nice garlic bread. Was having a look at the menu while eating. They have quite a selection… need to come with a big group ;) Wifi password is the name of the restaurant :) And it’s very touristy. So waiters speak English. And they accept Ticket!!!

I stayed at MiraMar hotel and this restaurant was very close to us. The atmosphere was amazing, service is excellent, the guys there want you to have an amazing experience with them. The food was excellent! We had crab shell with lemons which was delicious and our main meal was Paella with shrimp & fish and it was fantasticooo! To top it off with ice cream & cake. My wife & I first restaurant in Rio was wonderful and I highly recommend this place. If you are a seafood kind of person. This is the place for you for sure!!!

Very good! Followed Unilocalers reviews to get the fish, had the salmon and it was delicious. Service was excellent and the location is right off of Cocobana Beach. Cost was 55 reals for salmon, 12 for caprihlana and then a 10% tax or add on.

A comida chega rapidamente.

Oh, I loved this place a lot. It’s one street south of the«Hotel Debret» sign you can see on Copacabana beach. Fresh seafood is what they are famous for, though they have meat as well. Food was delicious and cooked well, but some things were good though not memorable, like the fish ceviche and the highly recommended shrimp empanadas. We ordered the shrimp and fish moqueca, which is a TON of food when you add all of the rice and sides! They do a great job of explaining what you are eating since there were a lot of new things for us like farofa!(Til this day, I don’t remember what farofa is exactly, but I ate it liberally with EVERY meal in Brazil…) Great atmosphere, fantastic and warm service. Carlos, our server was so incredibly pleasant and even answered a whole bunch of rando questions we had about Brazil, like where the subway station was! Careful with ordering apps and salads… the entrees here are HUGE! Definitely recommend. They have a few really fantastic non-alcoholic drinks too. Try the pineapple and coconut. So yum!

This was one of the experiences for me where the universe threw me a bone. I was with an English friend who was visiting me, and we were both starving in Copacabana. Copacabana, the neighborhood that I spend the least amount of time in in Rio — indeed I mostly avoid this area — and have no clue about the restaurants there. We turned around the corner and walked into Nomangue, hoping for edible food. Instead, we found a cozily and simply decorated restaurant that serves delicious traditional Brazilian seafood dishes, many from the Northeast. I love moqueca and octupus, so I ordered the moqueca de polvo for both of us to share, and a nice bottle of red. The moqueca was deep, rich, and flavorful, as it should be, and the service absolutely charming. We had a papaya mousse to finish the meal, and it was refreshing, light, and not too sweet. A very nice ending to the rather intense but delicious moqueca — I couldn’t eat anything for the rest of the day except some fruit! I would love to come back here for dinner, in a more intimate and romantic environment(they light candles at the dinner tables). They have another location in Barra da Tijuca that looks more intimate and sophisticated, but goodness, I’m in Barra less than Copacabana. I also learned on their website that they support sustainability within the restaurant practice, such as using recycled materials for construction, and they support an art space in Gavea that teaches children and adults in Rio about the importance of urban cleanup and environmental sustainability. While I’m sure most of us review primarily based on a place’s quality of product and ambiance, I think it is also very important to support businesses that are ethically, socially, and environmentally responsible. Nomangue is a winner on all counts for me.
