Our first taste of local Brazilian food after arriving in São Paulo! We asked the concierge for suggestions of where to eat, but his English wasn’t very good and he just said that there are a lot of good restaurants in a general direction that he pointed to. So we started out from our hotel to see what we would find and stumbled on this café-like restaurant. We started poring over the menu but it really was too difficult to make out the food names in Portuguese. We finally asked if there was an English menu and they had a few! That made things so much easier! Our server, who didn’t speak English, was really friendly and tried to be helpful. The food was delicious. The beef and pork skewers was probably the most delicious of the dishes our group ordered. I tried to order an acai bowl but when ordering it pointed to the one with papaya in it, so the server thought I only wanted it with papaya. When it arrived, I’m not sure what it was but it was really good. It was like a frozen custard made with fresh papaya and topped with raspberry liquor. So refreshing and yummy — perfect for the warm humid weather. I tried a sip of my friend’s Nortena local beer and it was really smooth and light(tasted like water to my friend) but as someone who doesn’t usually drink/like beer, I liked it. The server earned this restaurant the 5th star with how hard he tried to help us find the dishes we wanted to order. And when we discovered one of our dishes was given to the wrong person, he had the dish remade although we said it was ok. He was very accommodating and patient with our group of 8. Hope you get the same guy if you go!
