The Rocco Picheca Salon is situated on Yonge Street in Aurora in an idyllic converted old house. Within this salon is the hair Master himself: Rocco Picheca. Rocco is the truest definition of a hair artist. I have major aversions to cutting my hair, and avoid it at all costs.(One too many run-in’s with ‘experts’ who Freddy Krueger-ed my hair — I don’t want to talk about it.) Needless to say, upon recommendation from my boyfriend and his family, I’ve been frequenting his salon for almost a year and I can say with 1000% confidence that I solemnly swear to never let another person come anywhere near me with a pair of scissors. Rocco is patient, and despite my lack of ability to articulate what I want done to my hair, he just… he gets it. When you say an inch, he removes that inch or less. Preceding his patience, is his detail. Each strand of hair is handled with care which is evident based on the level of concentration that Rocco wears on his face. Aside from his ability to translate my mumbled descriptions of ‘trim my hair… not an inch… not a half inch, but…’ into an actual hair style, he has a sense of humour that soothes the nerves of the apprehensive and enlightens the more bold natured. Whether you’re the brave or the cowardly, Rocco is the guy for you.
