bad bad news, after hearing lots of good things about this spot as a place for late night fun myself and a group of friends decided to hit it up after a day of riding. Now the bar/club itself is completely mediocre to begin with, Dj’s that dont know how to mix to drinks that cost 20 $ and overly aggressive staff members. music selection is nothing special and neither is the atmosphere. However I do have to say that after being aggressively pulled out of the club for no apparent reason and told not to come back I dont think I’ll be spending any money on this place. Also I wasn’t the only person in my group to get thrown out figuring it had mostly to do with appearances, the thing that kills it for me is I had a my clothing in coat check and banff isn’t exactly a beach. the bouncers refused to take my coat check ticket or even bother to find my possessions I’d paid them to keep safe, not to mention hearing nothing back when trying to contact management about some form of lost and found. I’d say save your money, wait till this goes out of business and support something thats a little more geared to the well being of its guests

Terrible place and overpriced. My friend got punched in the face by some random guy for no reason and when we reported it to security they refused to do anything about it! Disgraceful. We will never go back there

I was wearing zebra print and the rest of the clientele was wearing plaid. Perhaps I would have had a better time had I gone home and changed into some buffalo check. This is a regular bar that plays REALLY terrible music most of the night and charges a $ 15 cover charge. The staff is cute and mostly Australian(as to be expected in this neck of the woods!) and there was some seating, but there was nothing that made this club fabulous, super fun or exciting to be at. The next time I’m in Banff and I want a really fun night out I might stop in at the McDonald’s next door because people seemed to be having a way better time in there.

I have had some pretty good nights at the Sasquatch! I dont particularly enjoy the music or waiting in the line to get in but it is always a fun time and good atmosphere inside!

The coat check girl made us want to turn around and walk right back out. We were there celebrating a bday and I had arranged g list. The VIP line was long so by the time we actually got in it was past the cut off. She was so stuck up about it and unfriendly. We only went in because we had others meeting us there. We won’t go back again though. It’s a shame because the music and Dj were great. It’s just unfortunate that the start to our night out started the way it did.

The Dancing Sasquatch was pretty mediocre. Most of the seating is reserved for bottle service, so it is basically impossible to have a «home base» if you are with a large group. The DJ playing sure knew how to get people to stop dancing by doing transitions without a beat at all. There were three bachelorette parties and one stag the night we were there, plus some kids who graduated high school the day before, and some guy’s weekenders. All in all the standard mixed crowd you expected in a small tourist town. Drinks were okay prices. It was a bit unnerving that there were several bouncers standing on stools to watch over the dance floor the whole night, though I guess with a rotating tourist crowd you never know what you’re going to get. Not directly related to the Dancing Sasquatch, but there was a guy there who clearly needs lessons in appropriate behaviour, trying to get a girl’s attention by repeatedly punching her in the backside. The bouncers missed that one and I had to have words with this jerk(I use a stronger word in real life). If you know this loser, tell him to smarten up and send him home if he’s acting like that. Ridiculous.

My Banff clubbing days are long over, but I’m always up for a night in Banff still. It was my cousins 30th and wanted to go dancing. So we picked here. Easy to get into, surprisingly no line, but I guess when you ram a place as full as they do, it makes sense. I always find place in Banff interesting as you have to go up or down or both to get around. We got here around 10:30 which I wouldn’t say is too late. And you couldn’t move. Constantly being bumped into, walked over and trying to get a drink was impossible. Goo music though, and lively, but we didn’t stay long.

came here for sunday dancing. apparently there is no cover charge on friday nights, $ 10 on sat nights and $ 5 on sunday nights. coat check is $ 1(or $ 2… can’t remember now) the crowd(at least when we were there) is in their early twenties also some rare human species in there mid twenties. line ups seem to be pretty long every night. the place was packed. it would be an ok place for dancing BUT the DJ was horrible… the music mix was destructively bad. every climax wasn’t finished, every song was cut off 20seconds in… bad bad bad. but cheap drinks and cheap cover might make you feel not that bad about going to this place.

Not usually big on clubbing, but I love the Sasq and this is why: –Service was prompt and friendly, hiballs and specials were pretty cheap. You have to try a Time Machine! –music was actually fairly dancable and they mixed it up. Some house and hip-hop, a little true dubstep here and there. Give me that drum and bass syncapation, baby! Bonus for not leaving my ears ringing at the end of the night. –Variety of people, from scruffy snowboarders to chic bachelorettes and a lot of in-between. Mostly in the 20’s range though. — The décor is awesome! Unless you can’t handle taxidermy, them maybe steer clear. –Every time I’ve been here the atmosphere was great and the lines short/non-existant. The place is quite small though so come on a weekday to not be packed shoulder to shoulder with tourists. Allow me to address the DJ requests thing people keep bringing up with as much tact as a techie can muster: No, they might not take requests. But why are you up on on their balcony full of thousands of dollars worth of equipment demanding how they do their job and spilling your drink everywhere? There’s a reason they are removed from the dancefloor.

I’ll start by saying that I hate clubs. A lot. I don’t think the young kids on the dance floor know what dancing is. Shaking your hips and waving your arms in the arm does not a dance make. However, I end up here because my friend loves the place. She does her«dancing» while I stand at the bar and do some surveying. «But Mighty Blake, why do you give it a 3 star rating if you hate clubs?» you may ask. Well, young padawan, that is because I still typically have fun there. The people that frequent this place are usually really friendly. I’ve had some good laughs with random people, have never seen a fight, and when the Sasquatch shows up, you can’t help but smile. Yeah, you read that right. They have their own freaking Sasquatch. And he has an Australian accent. And he dances. Wanna have a delicious drink? Try the Time Machine. 9 bucks for a schooner of this particular concoction. Yummy. Be sure to tip the bartenders well. Very good service and very friendly.

This is a great place to get deaf all. I just love clubs with super loud speakers yelling in my ear. The club is located upstairs with the washrooms and coat checks on the main floor. It’s pretty small up there and you are constantly bumping into people. Sweaty and raunchy people being all grabby and making out with each other. I mean that’s ok, but when people decides to switch partners… and then switch again with someone else… ewwwwwwwww This ain’t no swingers club, or did I walk through the wrong doors? The DJ played some new, old, top 40s, rock, and then real old, dubstep, tetris, dubstep, and then I think it was just only dubstep for 45 mins… I’m no DJ, but I’ve been to many shows and clubs to know a thing or two about it. It really wasn’t that good. Jumping from track to track all over the place like an on/off switch without good beat matching. It could be the fact that the speakers were so crappy and loud that he has gone deaf from them. I really just couldn’t get the grove, hence my dancing started looking like a Sasquatch. I do however love the interesting décor of the place, but that’s about it. When you come to Banff there’s pretty much this place or the one next door, come here on a second choice of two choices…

Fun place to go in Banff. Lots of young people there to drink and party. The dance floor is really cool, although I don’t think it’s big enough. If you’re in Banff I would check it out, although I wouldn’t plan your trip around it. Bar tenders are friendly, however the DJ’s generally don’t take a whole lot of requests. The bar is also really empty till about 10 or 11, don’t go early… it’s really lame.

I was here last weekend for a girlfriend’s bachelorette party and the evening started out great when we initially got there and then got progressively worse due to the music. When my friend who’s bachelorette party we were celebrating went up to the DJ to request a song the DJ completely brushed her off and wouldn’t acknowledge her request. It is safe to say that after that happened our party left pretty quick disappointed and rather pissed off. I would recommend this place to friends but only if they got rid of the rude DJ who was playing there on Saturday nights.

Typical Banff Club, The inside is really awesome though. Pop in even just to check that out.
