My Dog Rocks

I have taken a complete dog training course with Diane of My Dog Rocks last Fall. It was amazing — changed my relationship with my rather anxious standard poodle. I was so frustrated and now feel relaxed and in control of the situation. I learned that it is the owner — trainer that needs to change their behaviour and when you don’t know what to change to it can be tricky. Diane outlined how to handle and train my dog in a manner that was successful.
I had taken another (more expensive) dog training class the year earlier and its methodogy and practice did not work.

Then Diane is probably the trainer for you.
I had read so many books and did so much research before my boyfriend and I got our puppy. I was basically on information overload, and had no idea what to do. But as soon as I started learning about the methods Diane uses, something clicked.
What it really comes down to is mutual respect and trust between you and your dog. There were no treats or harsh punishments — only a continuous learning experience that was fun and challenging for dogs and people alike. Her classes got you off your butt and out into the real world — parks, busy streets, the beach, hiking trails, subway cars, downtown, etc. Each class would build upon the one before it, and before I knew it, my puppy and I were totally getting each other — it blew my mind.
Diane expects you to give it your all — after all, that’s what every dog deserves. And yes, she will call you out if you don’t! But in no way are her methods aggressive or extreme — she is genuinely in love with dogs, and wants nothing but the best for them (and their owners!)
Diane cuts out all the fluff and gets right down to the basics of understanding your dog and providing them with a fulfilling, exciting, stimulating life. And if you’re ready to commit to that — that is, to be a fair, consistent, and respectful leader for your dog — then this is the obedience training for you

Agree with Anton whose review has been banished to some weird basket for inappropriate remarks. I fail to see what deems his comments worthy of such treatment. I attended two sessions with my six month old puppy before I bailed, kicking myself for not having investigated the training philosophy more thoroughly beforehand. It is a very aggressive training method that may work well for dogs with significant behavioural issues (in the brief time I participated I did witness some achievement with same) but for a gentle puppy that is simply trying to make sense of what is wanted of it, the training method is over the top and is no fun for either owner or dog. If you simply want to yank at your dog, knee h/​er to change direction, and refrain from any verbal communication then this is the training programme for you. If you’d like a kinder, gentler experience with equally good results, I recommend you go elsewhere. But more than anything I urge you to look at the videos of Brad what-​his-​name, the B.C. based guru upon whose methods MyDogRocks is based.
