Tucked up atop Cates Hill rests one of the most scenic B&Bs I’ve ever had the privilege of staying at. Bowen Island, a small island 20 minutes away by ferry from Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver, is a beautiful get-​a-​way for anyone who likes the mountain beauty of BC. Twiggleberries, which gets its name from a rather strange legend, is just a short 5 minute drive from where the BC Ferry leaves you off in Snug Cove, or better yet call up the owner, Jan and she’ll pick you up.
The West coast Arts & Crafts style B&B contains five unique rooms built on a hilltop with views of surrounding Bowen beauty. You are truly enveloped in nature when you stay here. It’s a quiet restful spot that has super comfy beds and a wonderful living/​reading room as well as lots of deck space to relax in, or you can take a hike on any one of a number of Bowen’s nature walks. Your host, Jan, is warm and friendly and willing to accommodate you in almost any way she can. The breakfast part of the B&B is awesome, try the blue berry pancakes or dive into the huge tea selection and don’t forget the fresh made croissants.
Twiggleberries B&B is the perfect weekend escape for all you city dwellers, reasonably priced (anywhere from $ 100-​$ 150/​night depending on the room and time of year) and close enuf to the city that you spend more of your time enjoying the location, rather than getting to it.
