Burnaby Dental Centre

I have been a patient of Dr Popat’s for approx 14 years now.
I keep coming back to Burnaby Dental Centre for a few key reasons:
1) They are open in the weekday evenings! This is important to me as I hate missing work to go to dentist (or doctor) appointments
2) The people working at this clinic are super nice! Dr Popat maintains a very strong connection with her patients and staff by respecting everyone who enters into their clinic.
3) Our two young sons are really happy coming here. Dr Popat and her team manage to always navigate past all of the boys’ fears and resistance to clean their teeth quickly/​effectively each time we visit.
There’s more… But, rest assured, that this is the dentist clinic that we will be coming to for a long, long time.

You know, I never thought I would give a dentist and dental practice 5 stars, you know~ their being dentists after all ~ but here I am…
I had a couple of dentists in different areas of Vancouver over the years, they were all alright, but none of them were a good match for me, or enough to keep returning to their practices. A coworker recommended Dr. Neeta Popat very highly~ telling me she brought her now grown adult son and daughter to this practice, since they were toddlers. My coworker assured me Dr. Popat was extremely gentle and caring, so needing $ 5000 + worth of work done, I booked my first appointment in September.
I will first stress that I am very neurotic about dental work, am extremely nerve sensitive, and have never taken to freezing well. I have irked and annoyed many a dentist due to my sensitivities, and was very nervous waiting in the chair for my first appointment.
I was also under a short time deadline, as my extended benefits were due to run out, and I needed a lot of work completed within 3 weeks. Dr. Popat rose to this challenge and she and her clinic’s staff helped me through the treatment proposals, costing, and paper work which was initially overwhelming.
I am still in shock, and awe at how minimal the pain was with 8+ root canals, and how Dr. Popat was able to freeze me both quickly, and effectively~ no dentist had ever accomplished this. She was very quick, and compassionate with all the work she did, and was very empathetic while I clenched the arms of the dental chair, at some points
during treatments. She deftly re arranged some days to accommodate my mountain of dental appointments and necessary surgeries, her office’s hours are very accommodating for appointments after work and Saturdays.
Her assistants and front reception staff are all polite, and extremely caring, and all my treatment expenses were remitted promptly and with no problems with my health insurance, thank goodness. One last wonderful thing about Dr. Popat is she devotes time every year in going overseas with her staff, and doing free dental work in developing countries like Thailand~ pictures of these trips are on the walls in the front reception area. Professional, compassionate, skilled in dentistry like few others, and a true global humanitarian are just a few of so many of Dr. Popat’s attributes. She truly is a credit to the dental profession and I will not be going to anyone else for dental treatments in the future.

The service and work here is great but the way this place manages its books is terrible. I went in for a root canal and a crown, which was very expensive. After providing my insurance info I was told that everything was ok. Over a year later I received a call that I had been ignoring there calls and my account was going to collections for $ 809 dollars. This was the first I’d heard of it. My insurance company says that the amount was covered. My issue is that I have not been contacted by Burnaby Dental and in any way about this until I was being told that I had been ignoring their calls and had a large bill to settle and now I have limited options. It should not have taken over a year for me to find out that there was an issue with my account, it feels like a pressure tactic or shoddy accounting on their end.
