Glenburn Soda Fountain and Confectionery

Amazing!!! The inside of this place is so old school, I felt like I went back in time! The owner was very friendly and kind and his little daughter was working the till. She was also very kind and very professional! My friend and I got the mint hot chocolate (hot chocolate festival) and the Salty Caramel Sundae and It was delicious! Hands down the best sundae I’ve ever had! I highly recommend this place! Great experience :)

great décor. a great place if yearning for some nostalgia and a simple list of flavors. I imagine this place is great with kids. we probably didn’t get everything out of it by just getting an ice cream cone, but I was happy with that. It wasn’t exactly clear how to go about ordering, but with such an intimate floorspace it was no problem to flag down a staff member to ask,

Their sundaes are AMAZING! I really liked the favours and toppings they offer. I’ve been craving for their sundae ever since I tried Glenburn for the first time.

A lot of nostalgia going on here! I recognize a lot of candy from when I was a kid! Even the refrigerator was from way back when!
The ingredients for their goodies are from Local Farmers. We ordered a Sundae and a Rootbeer float. The ice-​cream was SO creamy rich and dense!
The décor brings you back to the 1950′ from the stools at the counter to the machinery and «dinging» bell when you open the front door.
The place is very clean (even the bathrooms). Well maintained.
The service is very welcoming and über friendly. Down to Earth staff.

After the great dinner at Pear Tree, my friend’s daughter wanted more dessert. Sure, we just walked a block away to Glenburn.
When we walked in, there was a line up outside the shop already. I noticed from the window, the seating is very limited and the décor is of an old school soda parlor, something I’ve never been to before as I am not of that generation so I found it very unique and interesting.
We spent some time staring at the menu while we were line up.
Little sweetie got blue berries sundaes and my hubby ordered strawberry milkshake.
Honestly, they not cheap, however not expensive considering the amount that you get
Overall, the icecream/​sundeas/​milkshake is good for anyone with a sweet tooth. I would prefer more quality of icecream.

I love this place. The moment I walk through the door I feel like I’m in the 50’s. Everyone is really friendly.
There’s so many desserts that it’s hard to chose which one. I had the Banoffee Split. Which is a banana split with coffee ice cream. So. Good.

Hit this place up on a Sunday. Never knew such a place existed. Brought here by my friends and ordered their brownie sundae. It was okay, looks big but taste wise they could have given me more ice cream to balance the sweetness. For $ 9 I expected a lot more.
Love this place though and I hope they stay in business. Great concept for a restaruant. Wish there was just more.

I scream you scream, for old timey ice cream.
My hot fudge sundae was revelatory. I needed to be alone with it. Difficult as I was with friends who also enjoyed their picks. M. had a cone with mint chip ice cream and declared it Yummy! T. had a maple ice cream with a brownie on the side. Huge brownies with almost fudge-​like consistency. Large shelf of vintage candy (vintage variety, not candy from someone’s pocket with lint on it!)
There is a jug of water with glasses on the counter. Brilliant for when the ice-​cream-​thirsts hit.
Banana splits are approximately $ 10 and Sundaes $ 6 – 8 so it might be steep for families. Is it worth it? Look at their Instagram feed and decide. Even if just for a special treat, it’s a must.

Great selection of treats from ice cream floats, ice creams, sundaes, milkshakes, sodas, brownies, candies & so much more! Great service with nice workers.
Downside they don’t have much seating so be prepared to take your dessert to go or eat standing. I ordered a sundae and it was difficult to eat because we didnt have a table. It was a busy sunny hot Sunday afternoon, I didn’t want to take my sundae to go, it probably wouldn’t last too long before melting. Though my hot fudge sundae was yummy didn’t fully get to enjoy it. Holding a sundae by the hand wasn’t fun and messy but I guess that was part of the experience.

4.5 sounds about right! I left my cell at my friend’s so I didn’t take any photos, but there are plenty here.
I ordered the O.M.G. Brownie Sundae ($ 9) and it was enough for 2 – 3 people. Loved the made in-​house peanut butter sauce ’cause it wasn’t sweet so it was a nice contrast to all the other elements.
Contrary to some of the reviews complaining about their lack of customer service, I didn’t observe anything bad. All the staff seemed very patient and smiley despite a few kids playing with the candy to somewhat older kids playing on their cell phone and not paying attention to their orders being called.
You definitely hafta have a sweet tooth/​hankering for all things a 50s ice cream parlour has to offer, including malts, shakes, banana splits, etc.

I give this place a 4.5 stars. It’s missing half a star due to lack of customer service and the amount of spaces for people to sit i guess.
Its for sure a great place to satisfy your sweet tooth and if you have a huge craving for ice cream. Though I did hear that half the time this place is full and line ups can be out the door. I suggest to go early if you want a seat or just take the ice cream to go.
The atmosphere of this place is pretty cool. When you walk in it makes you feel like you wanted back into and 1970s diner cause it’s designed like a diner and plus it sells single pieces of candy and etc.
I ordered a strawberry sundae because i couldn’t choose and strawberry is usually my default flavor cause i don’t think you can ever go wrong with that. They add a fake cherry on top and instead of peanut sprinkled on top it’s walnuts. A small was like 5.00. I guess it’s a reasonable price to be at a diner kinda place because there was 2 scoops. I mean gelato nowadays will cost you 5.00 for a single scoop. I had trouble keeping the ice cream in my cup rather than on the table. lol. Yes, I’m totally a messy eater.
Customer service wasn’t exactly there. The lady took my money at the cash register and another girl made my ice cream. I guess i expect a diner place to be cheerful. Maybe that might just be too much to ask for.
Overall, I would suggest others to check this place out if you’re in the neighborhood. They do give you decent size scoop of ice cream. So, you are getting your bang for the buck.

MMmmmmm I loved Glenburn Soda Fountain and Confectionary! It is a really cute place with all the classic soda shop desserts. I shared the OMG brownie with Becky H. I was pleasantly surprised by the peanut sauce on it. It gave the brownie a sweet/​salty flavour. The brownie also had an interesting texture. It was dense but not heavy (if that makes sense…). Our friends ordered the Maple lovers sundae and the banana split. Everyone was happy with their choices. I also liked the old school corner store feel. You can buy 5 cent candies and fill little paper bags up and they also have specialty soda pops to buy and take home. It’s very nostalgic when you go there.
I am definitely going back to try the other desserts. The milkshakes and the ice cream floats are next on my list to try.

Walking into Glenburn Soda is like travelling back in time and stepping into a 1940−50s soda shop with its fountain service, bar stools, retro styling, and general blast from the past look and feel.
I wanted to try a specialty sundae and on first visit, ordered the special of the day, a black and tan sundae (with caramel pecan fudge ice cream, hot fudge, butterscotch syrup, chocolate wafer crumble, sugar cone crunch, whipped cream, and sweet ground chocolate, very top).
Glenburn’s array and variety of ice creams, drinks, sundaes, and treats is a little bit overwhelming. I usually stick to the simple favourites, but this place begs you to indulge yourself.
I had to come back to sample another of Glenburn’s many decadent concoctions. As a chocolate and sweet lover, I ordered a black out sundae (with chocolate ice cream, hot fudge, chocolate chips, chocolate whip cream, dark chocolate sprinkles, and a chocolate wafer cookie). It’s one of the more decadent looking of the specialty options.
Both sundaes were old school and full of cold, hard, sweet ice cream goodness. I enjoyed the crunch and sweet mishmash of treats of the black and tan and the chocolate everything, even to the whipped cream, in the black out. I’d say I liked the chocolate one better for its consistent flavouring and being served in a tradition tall glass rather than a banana split style bowl.
On a third visit, I had the Canadian mint sundae (with mint chocolate chip ice cream layered with hot fudge, toasted almonds, coated with chocolate crackle, topped with whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles). It was refreshingly satisfying, much more mild, and less sweet than the other two sundaes.
Glenburn is a classic throwback to retro desserts, small town culture, and must be tried for anyone with a sweet tooth. With so many options, I’m curious about the malts, egg creams, floats, syrups, and sodas. Everything is in the details with all the period appropriate designs down to the decorations, materials, and utensils.

Went here with dragonboy after he had gone earlier this week. I like all ice cream so he knew this would be the place for me. We went on a hot Saturday afternoon. Was expecting it to be packed but surprisingly it wasn’t busy at all. Everything from the music to the décor to the equipment felt like a blast from the past.
Ordered the sweet and salty pretzel and sundae. It came with the choice of either butterscotch or peanut butter sauce. Ordered it with the peanut butter and it was delicious. The pretzel bits give the sundae a nice balance between salty and sweet and the caramel pecan fudge ice cream added an extra layer of flavor next to the vanilla.
Will definitely be coming back to try the other sundaes. One sundae is definitely a lot for one person. I ended up taking the rest of mine home. It’s a good size for sharing between two or three people.
I’d say the best time to go is in the afternoon. I hear it can be quite busy after dinner.

Not many dessert places deserve a 5/​5, but Glenburn Soda Fountain and Confectionery earned it. Besides the nostalgic soda bottles, Glenburn has really put a lot of thought into setting the scene for an old fashioned malt shop. Every single detail from whip cream canister to their old fashioned paper hat screams retro. They’ve changed the counter tops, lighting and even added old school hardware on all the handles.
You know what else is impressive? Their ice cream actually taste creamy and full of flavor. Strawberry ice cream means chunks of strawberries, not those generic, tasteless, artificially flavored crap you find in grocery stores.
Their large size sundaes are the perfect size for sharing. If you’re in the mood for something else, they also have milkshakes, floats, malts, rickeys and vintage candy. I didn’t grow up in the era of malt and soda shops, but I sure can appreciate them.
