Arnel B.(12 month back) Described my experience exactly. Mine happened about 3 months back. The female barber did not understand what a «fade» was, I guess, and basically gave me a bowl cut, then proceeded to try and fix her blunder by cutting the hair on top of my head so short, to the point that all I had left were bangs.
I ended up heading home and just shaving my own head out of frustration. Haven’t been back to a barber since.
Only reason this is not a 1 Star review is because my prior experiences there were decent enough (male barbers only).

It is a perfect place to go if you are in a hurry because it will take 8−10minutes to get your hair cut, and their is never a big line, however the quality is not that good.
This said, the haircuts only get the job done since the hairline is never even on both sides. I went 3 times and got 3 different barbers and everytime the hairline is off. People say it is good quality but really, for 15 $ i have gotten way better cuts than this back in Montréal. An 8minute cut is not worth 20 $ honestly.

I walked in the shop hesitantly, unsure about what I wanted to get and unsure whether or not I wanted to get a haircut from this particular Man cave as the one in Yaletown gave me very subpar service.
But I was pleasantly surprised as I met Marten and he guided me through their service and suggested a haircut that fit my face. I will recommend this service to all of my friends.

I dropped by without an appointment and was seated promptly. The barber was apparently very sick and tired of his occupation and therefore did a fast lousy job. I paid $ 25 with tip (i always feel bad not paying tip. I must change)
Wouldn’t recommend to anybody. Wife complained alot so just try some where else.

Just moved to Vancouver four months ago, been to about 6 different barbers but this place provided the best service.
I seen Martin who was very kind, attentive to detail and did an amazing job. I highly recommend this place to anyone and will definitely be coming back!

Man cave is my go to barber shop in Burnaby, especially when I’m working I’ll drop by during my lunch and they can usually fit me in right away. Definitely like the feel of the man cave, got TV’s to watch while you’re getting your hair done and iPads to use while you wait. They know their hairstyles and I never go home disappointed.

Looked good from the outside. I read some reviews and was warned to avoid the last chair on the right where the female barber cuts your hair.
Against my better judgement I went in and was seated immediately at the last chair on the right. I guess it’s my own fault for not wanting to wait and being optimistic.
First the barber doesn’t come and walk you to the chair you have to stumble your way back there. Also they don’t wash your hair prior to cutting. In fact she doesn’t even spray your hair wet. She just goes at it with the clippers.
I attempted to lighten the mood and talk to her. This made her cut even worse as she was distracted trying to do two things at once.
My hair is uneven and I am not returning to this barber shop.

First time coming here and this would be the last time.

I came here to get some health care and grooming products for one of my guy friends who was getting married. I picked up some mustache cream (he is into the whole hipster BS thing and waxing his stash) and some shaving cream. It was $$$, however, worth it. Now that he is married he is going to have to be clean cut more often.

I lived nearby so I used to come here often and the booking system is very handy and unique. I love that I can go around the mall and get a text to say your barber is ready. THAT tops it all. Must come and guaranteed you’ll love the hair cuts here. Very classy place & friendly staff.

Next time, I may consider getting a haircut for $ 20, not too shabby despite the most recent negative review.
Anyways, i’ll digress: needed an organic shampoo, and found a nice local brand. The others were the Jack Daniels-​like, etc or from London so yes, pretty pennies here.

I came here because I wanted to find a barber a little closer to where I work, and read the great reviews on Unilocal.Today, Unilocal let me down. It seems from the reviews that the male barbers are great. Today I got a hair cut from one of the female barbers.
Now, I generally communicate well when it comes to my hair. I know what to ask for, and how to describe what I want. The woman who cut my hair today basically didn’t speak to me the entire time I was in her chair. (This should’ve been a huge red flag. She didn’t even say hi or tell me what chair to sit in. One of the other barbers had to direct me where to go) She asked what I get on the sides (I told her a number one guard with a low fade down to skin). She decided to just go at my head with the clippers upon hearing that. She was so aggressive that she had shorn a huge strip with her first pass. Even if I had stopped her, my hair was already not fixable. After just simply shaving all sides to a number one, she began cutting the top. No attempt to fade despite me explicitly telling her that it is usually faded. Her scissor work was also very questionable. I can say that this is the first time in 33 years of getting haircuts that my barber did not touch my hair with their hands. She used a comb and just started to clip anything above the comb line. I’m not a barber/​stylist so I figured, maybe this was a technique she was using that I’d never come across. All of a sudden, what seemed like halfway through my hair, she announced that she was done and asked if the cut was ok. At this point I was ready to lose it, and I think it showed on my face, so I just told her it’s fine and got the heck out of the chair.
After I got home I decided to wash my hair out and see the damage done. It is completely uneven, and annoyingly short/​long in random places.
I won’t return. Having been to plenty of barber shops, I can definitely say this place is a case of you get what you pay for. This place is all décor, no talent. Be careful before putting your money in to this business.

Man Cave is a great place to get a haircut. So many salons cater mostly towards women. It’s also cool that the straight blade shave isn’t a lost art at this place. I came in 30 mins. before closing and they still accommodated me. I would recommend this place.

Just moved to Vancouver, was in the fantastic Metropolis Metrotown, have seen 50 barber shops in a day, decided to Unilocal a few, this was top for a reason in Metrotown.
I saw David, who made me feel very welcome and at ease. Gentle (no one likes those barbers that yank your hair around goddamn it) very attentive to detail, listened to what I wanted and delivered.
In and out in no time.

I go there every 2^nd week. it’s exactly what you would expect from a «barber shop». Good atmosphere TV’s with the game on… Overall a good experience. I used just walk in and wait for the first person that could help me, however I did have a bad experience once. I usually get a fade and a shave just with no guard on the head shaver, hence why I go to a barber and not a hair dresser. The one time I was served by the only woman who works there and her chair is the first one on the right was the bad experience. Simply because I believe she is a hair dresser and not a barber. My fade was uneven and horrible, and she had not use 3 different shavers to shave my face and I was in the chair for over an hour… And to top it off she charged me MORE than the stated price! NOW I just wait for Evan. He definitely knows what he’s doing and from what I can tell most of the other barbers are competent too. I still go there every 2 weeks. No other complaints. Overall a good experience and friendly staff.

Man Cave Barbershop is a trendy establishment. I’ve been a client of Man Cave Barbershop since December 2013, and never once have I left the barbershop dissatisfied. Mancave’s staff is friendly, highly skilled, and extremely detail-​oriented. Evan is my go-​to barber for classic hairstyles (medium-​short length tapered haircut). If you want a five-​star worthy fade, you’re going to want to see Nick; I got a bald fade done by him, and it was executed flawlessly. My most recent haircut was done by Nick, and he took his time to ensure that I was happy with the results. Nick used a feather blade (a skill rarely seen nowadays) to blend in my awkward undercut. Both, Evan and Nick, are extremely detailed in their work, and I highly recommend them.
As a rule of thumb, COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR BARBER; they aren’t mind readers. Let them know what you want done, and ask their opinion. Both barbers that have cut my hair have provided me with constructive feedback and styling tips.

EDIT: After contacting the owner after my disappointing visit, They looked into it
to find out who did my hair, and offered to personally fix my neckline, and
give me a full refund. Which I did not take, because I had left on Vacation.
But, I felt that the dedication to rectify the poor service I received was a nice
gesture to make a unpleasant situation better, and I changed my original rating
of 1 star to 3 stars.

After my last hair stylist moved I’ve been looking around the greater Vancouver area for a replacement. When I read several great reviews for this place I decided to come check this place out.
When I arrived I was pretty optimistic from what I’ve read and the general vibe I got from the place. I’m generally not to picky about what I want for my hair style and I told the barber what I tell most people who cut my hair «I would like it short and messy, BUT I absolutely do NOT want it cut to short or thin so that skin/​scalp shows through.» The barber said he understood, and that it wouldn’t be a problem. He attached a guard to his clippers and took the first big chunk out of my hair and immediately my scalp was showing through some of the shortest hair I’ve ever had. I immediately lost a lot of confidence in this barber, and he actually asked me if I wanted it shorter! WHAT?!
To say the least, it was awkward from that point on, I didn’t want to get mad about something that can’t be changed at that point, so I said to just go with it and maybe it could turn out okay, but I explained I didn’t want to go any shorter at all! Again he didn’t listen to my very well cause he did end up going shorter and when it came to my neck line I asked for a natural curved neckline. What did I get? A straight line across the back of my neck with some of the hardest corners I’ve ever seen. When I tried to explain what I wanted he just kept telling me that he did what I asked and didn’t know what I was talking about. He even asked me if I wore glasses and if I had left them at home. Really? I’m not the one here that needs glasses!
That’s not the serviced I expected and I didn’t even want to pay for what I got, and it felt like I just got trolled the whole time I was there. Now I have to wait at least 2 – 3 months for my hair to grow out enough so I can get it fixed.
What makes this really unfortunate is that I can’t shake this feeling that if I had just got my hair cut by any of the other 4 or 5 barbers that were there at the time, it wouldn’t have ended up the way it did. The others seemed to communicate more with their customers and didn’t have this one-​dimensional short clippers cut routine like the barber I ended up with. If a barber can’t follow a simple and only instruction like «I don’t want it to short or thin, I don’t want to see my skin/​scalp through my hair» Then I don’t know what you’re doing even cutting peoples hair to begin with.

Fantastic place. Perfect, fast haircut. Eddie is really friendly and very good at his job. The décor is great as well, reminds me of the old school barber shop my dad used to take me to when I was a kid. Can’t wait to come back for a hot towel shave.
This is without a doubt my go to place now!

This is a great place for a quick haircut or shave. The staff are wonderful people who love their jobs. The haircut I got was perfect. You must visit this place for your next hair cut!
