Basically the portions are decent-sized but the prices are a little ridiculous for these types of restaurants. With so many restaurants just like it in the area, they should either be serving way better quality food or lowering their prices.

The food we got was great. A group of us order curry pork with rice, a pineapple chicken and shredded pork fried rice and a beef and veg chow mein. The 4th person with us got a club sandwich which strangely came with rippled potato chips. Now it took about 35 – 45 mins to get the food to us and the place was almost empty and we got there at 6:15. Service for water was great but trying to get left over food packed and the bill took us about 20 min which water and tea was offered 3 times. This is why I only gave 4 stars. Date was Aug 04’10

I am not a big fan of this HK café and I love quick HK food. I like the location of this place. It is conveniently located right near Crystal Mall and a short walk to Metrotown. The décor is nice. The food is not very good. I will go out on a limb and say it is ‘ok’. The prices are what makes me not like it. I just can’t understand poor and unfriendly service along with bad food would equal high prices. Oh well, its not on any list of mine to go again.

I’m a big fan of HK style café. The food was ok and fast. The price just a bit higher in Vancouver East area compare with 54 Café or Honolulu. Of coz, the food quality much better than those cafes. The stir fried sliced duck with black pepper spaghetti taste alright, a bit oily. The pan fried chicken with curry prawn was ok too. I do not expect café style restaurant have exceptional food and service. But they are ok.

We had just arrived and it was getting late. This was the only place that was still open in the mall so we took a seat and hoped for the best. This is a HK style western food joint. You order things like a baked pork chop over rice with a tomato gravy for lunch or macaroni soup for breakfast. The food was OK. I had the XO sauce stir fried udon and my wife had a Hainan chicken with rice dish. The food was OK but overall unremarkable really.

There are only a handful of HK style café restaurants around the Metrotown area, and this is just one of them, and probably in terms of price for the regular lunch and dinner hours, the most expensive of the bunch. The only good time to come to this place really is during their ‘special’ menu times. If not, then you have to deal with their regular menu, which does have selection. The place is actually comfortable to sit in, as there are high ceilings, and room between other tables. I have to say they actually make an OK steak and lobster combo, and they have their daily special, like Tuesday night buy one get the other for half steak and lobster dishes(I could be wrong as they like to change up their specials). Also, they take debit and credit(just watch out… if you use credit card. as it has to be a minimum of $ 20), as most places of this nature are cash only! And also they use the Crystal Mall parking lot, so never really a problem finding parking.

Honestly, don’t bother coming here. It’s your usual Hong Kong style café with just barely mediocre service. It’s overpriced and the food isn’t good. I remember ordering a fried rice item from here. it was just okay. Plus they added dried shredded pork on top of it. which made it taste really weird. Nothing special at all, nothing new on the menu from 54th Ave restaurant or Honolulu(maybe Pittsburg has fewer items). But yeah, don’t waste your time here.

Overpriced HK café — really falling into the trend of ‘upscale’ HK cafes much like iCafe or Copa. While the décor is nice, the trade-off is higher prices, poor value and unexceptional food — really against what I feel are the basic values in a HK café. The café looks like it mainly caters to the local office lunch crowd as I noticed all items that take longer to make(i.e. baked pork chop on rice) is marked with a clock icon. Not a good sign if the place is mainly catering to a captive audience. Had my standard baked pork chop on rice and it seemed really dry. My friend had the beef ho fun(dry-fried beef noodle) — which she dug as they added shrimp paste which was pretty standard. Overall, not horrible — but much better options down the street(i.e. Curry King) or within Crystal Mall.

Slow but friendly service and so-so food. Just came out of a movie at Metropolis Silver City on a Sunday night and, if I wasn’t so desperate for some Chinese food I probably wouldn’t have come here. Plus the friend I was with suggested coming here. There was a specials for 1 menu where all the dishes were about $ 5.95 or $ 6.95 each, but we decided to just order from the regular menu. I had the shanghai dumplings in soup and my friend had some beef noodle soup(curried). Both were OK, but nothing to swoon over. I also ordered the crepes with bananas and whipped cream. The crêpe was nice and fresh, but not worth the $ 6. I don’t think I’d come back here again, unless my friend suggests it again.(I’m hoping she won’t.)
