We specialize in pre-​travel consultation, risk assessment and vaccination.

Typically we have been dealing with a lot of people who:

Are concerned that they do not have the proper vaccines for the location they are traveling to,

Up set over the length of time they have to wait at their local GP’s office to get a vaccine,

Unsure what vacancies they need,

Concerned that the vaccines they received in the past are not enough and are confused over the information they are getting online.

We provide accurate, up to date international travel health advice as well as educating you on risk reduction and appropriate vaccine selection based on the complexity of your itinerary and your specific medical conditions.

Historique

Fondé en 1996.

TMVC is the largest medical facility in British Columbia specializing in travel and occupational medicine services and immunizations.

The company is privately owned and operated and was founded in 1991 in response to ever increasing demands placed on the public health system. Since its inception, TMVC has counselled and vaccinated over 200,000 travellers venturing to just about every country in the world.

The nurse that we had an appointment with was so rude and profit oriented that we ended up walking out. If she’d had her way we would have been out $ 600. The whole time she was trying to put fear into us about where we were going and the disease we were going to get. When I told her that I would wait and get my yellow fever shot in Peru at the Lima airport for $ 25 instead of $ 130 she lost it and told me I would get a fake vaccine there. She rushed through the rest of the consultation.
Consult your family physician. After all they are doctors and not a business who tries to stick a needle in you to make $$. They get paid by MSP so they are not going to charge you a $ 40 consultation fee and since they don’t make money from vaccinating, you are going to get a more balanced recommendation.
She didn’t tell us anything that my lonely planet book hadn’t told me. So unless you want to support these guys so they can cover the rent for their 18 locations, go to your family physician.

I did not think the services were worth the price that I paid and for all I know, this is all pocketed. The receptionist seemed moody and I had a long wait. I will not be returning as this was a waste of my time and money. I don’t have much tolerance when it comes to rude staff.

If you are going to go traveling around the world it is inevitable that you will have to go to a travel medical place to get vaccinations. The Burnaby location has very nice staff that makes your less than fun stay much better (who likes being stuck by one or more needles). They give vaccinations for basically anything that you could need wile out travelling the world. They will give you a list of recommended or mandatory vaccinations that you can get. This location is open one night a week late for people that are not able to make it out to the clinic during regular working hours like allot of us out there.
Places like this are a necessary evil to travelling so if you need to get used as a pin cushion you might as well go to a place with friendly staff!
If you have some kind of extended medical plan through work make sure to check if they will cover travellers vaccinations as I found out one of my plans does cover these shots and I get them almost for free!
