We went there today for a cross country skiing. The website said that all the trails are open and indeed the weather was beautiful and last 2 days were full of snow. So we spent an hour driving from Toronto to see the closed gate, no ability to rent the equipment and some apologizing lady at the entrance saying that they are closed today. What a waste of time! So they are not really interested in visitors… apparently.

After the first big snowfall in Toronto, we decided to find a trail for some x-cross country skiing.(note to self: just because it snowed in Toronto doesn’t mean the same for up north). But there were still snow up there, except the x-cross country trail wasn’t officially open. I guess we got a hint when we approached the entry point and there was no attendant. We went around the corner and saw everyone at the hiking trail entrance with their skiis and poles. I don’t remember seeing any maps along the trail, but there was probably one at the entrance. There were 4 levels of difficulty, and from the hiking trail entrance you can ski yourself over some parking lots to the actual ski paths. I was surprised that the cleaning plow came by during this time, because there wasn’t enough snow on the bottom to call for it, and essentially it made it worse — exposing some more grass and sticks. My boyfriend flipped over at some point down a big hill :( The easy trail was fairly flat with some small hills. the Yellow, medium trail has some large hills, I think I mastered climbing up the hill in skiis. Fun for sure, but make sure to call to see if the facility you want is open!
