At BoConcept we make modern design furniture for the urban-​minded customer. With the start of BoConcept in Denmark in 1952, there is a long tradition of creating high-​quality design furniture at affordable prices.

BoConcept home furnishings are created for people who love design, energy and style in all aspects of life. The company offers customized, coordinated and affordable designs. Customized because most products can be fitted to the dreams and needs of customers. Coordinated because every little detail has been considered. Affordable because BoConcept spoils design lovers by offering great value.

Historique

Fondé en 1952.

Sometimes all it takes is one bright idea. Like creating functional designer furniture at affordable prices. That was the vision of the two Danish craftsmen Jens Ærthøj Jensen and Tage Mølholm who founded BoConcept back in 1952.

A Great Story:

The tradition for high-​quality craftsmanship combined with functionality and simplicity were key success factors for Danish furniture design and production in the 1950s and the success also applied to BoConcept. Success in Denmark paved the way for exports and soon two craftsmen’s vision turned BoConcept from a small furniture factory into Denmark’s most global retail furniture chain with more than 260 successful franchise-​driven Brand Stores in more than 60 countries.

Recently moved to Calgary from Boston with our Bo Concept furniture in tow — we could not bring ourselves to part with its comfort, design and versatility. We needed some parts to reconfigure the layout for our new house and found the owner Roslyn Ross and all of her staff to be super friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating — they supplied everything we needed and did so at no charge, with a smile.
It is a level of service that you seldom encounter these days — combine this with high quality, stylish furniture, beautifully presented in the huge showroom and you cannot go wrong.

I am really impressed with this store. I had looked all over for a rug with COLOUR that looked modern — no earth tones for me. I almost gave up but found the perfect rug at BoConcept. I thought the price was very reasonable, the staff were incredibly helpful, all in all a great shopping experience. I can hardly wait to go back and check out what else is in the store.

My partner and I moved into a new house recently and we have been doing A LOT of furniture shopping over the past 3 months. We sold our condo fully furnished and moved into the new house with a mattress and two borrowed chairs. I feel like we’ve been to almost every furniture store in town!
Before I went to the store, I checked out Bo Concept online and I really liked what I saw in the catalogue. They have a huge selection of danish modern and contemporary furniture and accessories, and most furniture can be customized with different fabrics or finishes. Unfortunately they carry less than 1⁄3 of the catalogue in the store.
The store is very large (for a downtown shop). The furniture is grouped by room type so that you can see coordinating pieces together, probably encouraging us to buy more :) The sales people are generally friendly, but no one offered me a 3D rendering of my space, even though I mentioned to two different sales people that I had just moved in to a new house and had no furniture. It wasn’t until I read Dinah G’s review that I even knew they offered the service.
Seven weeks after placing the order, I finally received my coffee table today! I guess I shouldn’t be too critical of the delivery time, a lot of stores in town don’t seem to carry any of their stock in Canada.
I WOULD NOT recommend buying any furniture from Bo Concept that requires assembly at home. The coffee table was 3x more expensive than IKEA, and 3x harder to assemble. There were over 50 predrilled holes in the bottom of the tabletop, but the holes in the base didn’t line up with any of them?!? We called the store to ask for some assistance and they weren’t any help, aside from offering to send someone to assemble it for $ 100! The instructions didn’t say anything about using your own power drill to fasten the frame to the top, but that ended up being the only way we could do it.
Bo Concept, I want to love you, I really do. But after having to MacGruber the coffee table together, I won’t be returning :(

Crazy interior design store, I say crazy because for one it is huge plus they have all the bases covered here. Prices are not meek folks so come with your check book or credit card as this is upper end customised furniture and accessory shopping.
I was instantly greeted at the door and sale people are trained to lead you through a personalised journey through the store. We are talking sleek and minimalistic design, you can choose the fabric and the color of any of your upholstered choices plus they even go so far as put a schematic blueprint of your space on their system so you can see it on their flat screen and then you can virtually and spatially design your space!
They will replace items on the blueprint with next to exact pieces of things you already have and then add the pieces on the blueprint of things that you want to add from BoConcept.
Now do you get this kind of treatment at IKEA or Urban Barn, I doubt it but you are paying 4 times as much as you would there.

BoConcept is a Danish furniture store that has a total of TWO stores in Canada. One in Vancouver, and now, one in Calgary. They had their grand opening yesterday, on Boxing Day, and I just happened to be in the area.
One word my fellow Unilocalers: WOW.
BoConcept carries all modular and customizable furniture — so basically, you find the model you like, and then you customize the size, length, fabric and colour. You can also just bring in measurements of a room and using their in-​house computer program, you can actually get a visual of what would look best and what would fit best within a particular set of dimensions.
I had the pleasure of getting a tour from Sara, who was not only professional, knowledgeable and extremely approachable, but she explained how the customization process works and even offered us delightful Danish snacks — everything from Danish chocolates to Danish cookies & biscotti! And let’s not even get into the free Pelegrino! A very nice touch!
The pieces are a little expensive, but like my friend said «it’s like you’re buying a piece of art for your home — it’s going to be a bit pricier, but it’s going to be EXACTLY what you want». How can you go wrong with that if it gives you pleasure every single time you see it or sit on it?
As you can tell, I LOVE this store. I love the concept, I love the freedom & options, I love the service, and I love the ambiance. It’s officially open from Monday — Sunday, so you’ve got NO excuses as to why you can’t stop on by!
