I had never been before, I loved it. We didn’t have to pay the fee because we ate supper in the tower, the fee is fairly expensive though.

Make sure you head up on a sunny and clear day. The views of the mountains were spectacular. Pick up an audio guide (it’s free) to get information about the city as you make your way around the tower.

Great place to visit if you haven’t been to Calgary before! Lots of pretty views of the mountains and downtown Calgary! You have to stand on the glass floor, very scary, but totally cool! There’s a gift shop at the top as well as a revolving restaurant. The cost is a bit high at $ 18, but worth it for the good picture taking!

A fun little thing to do in Calgary when you visit this lovely city. You can see tons of buildings and other things from the top of this historic tower. This is right in the heart of the city. This is a place you must go to when you visit Calgary!!!

This is a MUST see and do when visiting Calgary! LOVED IT !!!
The views are amazing. The Self-serve audio guide is great and very interactive.
The glass floor is fun.
Go at sunset, the view of lights is very pretty and the tower itself is lit up!

Went there a couple of years ago and loved it. I heard Calgary is a developing place, well the whole province. They have a lot of development going on and their airport may be largest. After development the view from the tower will be more fantastic. Currently the restaurant is good and since it moved around at a slow speed, it’s a great view to see while eating. There wasn’t a rush either which was good. Parking is hard to find though but overall, it was a great experience.

As others have mentioned, it’s a little pricey, but the view from top is incredible. You’ll feel your stomach tighten as you walk onto the glass floor and peer 525 feet down to the street. Their digital audio tour is entertaining and informative. You walk around the Calgary Tower at your own pace and click on highlighted buildings to learn fun factoids and hear stories of the past. It’s also a good way to get a birds-eye view of the streets and figure out how to get to all the tourist spots you want to hit.

Too far from the Rockies to see anything of significance
and Calgary’s downtown is not the most impressive.
I did it because I had an hour or two to kill.
Pretty underwhelming.
I then found you get free admission to the tower if you eat at the restaurant, though it’s not advertised anywhere.
I wanted to eat at the restaurant that revolves (their menu looked good),
but you have to book it in advance, no walk-ins.
Not worth the $ 17, I was in and out in under 20 minutes.

We recently went to the top of the tower with our young kids. They loved the glass floor and the incredible views! We also used the new electronic tour guide that they have a available. They are very cool and easy enough that my 4 year old was able to use them. They provided some interesting narratives of the city and its past.

At first we were taken aback by the price for this attraction but once we saw that there was a tablet based audio guide with the admission we changed our minds. We’ve been up in plenty of towers/tall buildings with views but the combination with the history/geography/sports lessons from the narration really brought the city alive. We learned a ton through this tool. Very well done despite some technical difficulties with both our tablet units.

A surprisingly fun treat. The wife and I had a couple of hours to waste in Calgary so we decided to hit the Calgary Tower.
While the tower is not really all that tall, it does provide an enjoyable view of the city and the mountains.
I really can’t say much more than to go relish the view, it’s worth it (at least once anyway).

Little pricey but worth it! You get a great feel for the layout of the entire Calgary and receive a free audio tour with historical and fun facts and stories. Another bonus you get to see is the glass floor that you can walk over.

I haven’t been to the tower since I was a child, but I’m glad I went back as an adult! With no fear I walked onto the glass floor to look at the tiny cars below. Although it is nothing like the CN Tower, the view of the city is still amazing! A great place to take in the sights of Calgary and be a tourist.

If you’re going to do the touristy thing then you’ve gotta go to the Calgary Tower. They got the glass floor (can you say vertigo?) which I looked down but didn’t want to step on. LOL. Anyway, there is a small gift shop here & we asked the lady working there some questions about Calgary, being tourists in the city. She was really helpful & knowledgable. We got a nice view of the Saddledome (too bad its closed due to the flood!) & the Bow River. It was pretty interesting to get a higher view of the city. There are things you can spot from higher up than when you’re on the ground.

I’m sure everyone else here can tell you about the history of the Calgary tower, or anything like that, but I came here as part of our vacation in Canada.
We went on a rainy day, so the view wasn’t great, but I loved the glass flooring. My dad was freaking out and my brother didn’t necessarily want to take a picture there. It was great to see down and across.
I will admit, as much as I was a tourist, I disliked some of the tourists there, I understand noise and being loud, but damn, some people just need to be quieter.
I wish they had guided tours though, telling me what I’m looking at. I know they had tours every so often, but I guess I wish it was more often, or had some sort of map when we walked in to tell us what to look for and what we were looking at.

November Challenge — ²⁰⁄₃₀
Can’t believe how long I’ve lived here without managing to get to the Calgary Tower. But I’m glad I was finally able to experience it! I could spend all day staring at the view of the entire city from here. It’s amazing.
Minus one star only because I felt like all there was, was the view and gift shops. No obvious plaques on how old the Tower is, when it was built, who built it, the history. I love reading stuff like that and knowing factoids like that, so not being able to find one bummed me out a little. Also, I wish they had change machines around, so that I could’ve gotten a few coins and used one of the telescopes to get a better view.
But hey, you can get a pepper mill shaped like the tower here! And I loved walking across and laying on the glass ceiling. Will have to try the Sky 360 restaurant, someday!

The distinctive Calgary Tower is a 600+ foot free standing observation tower in Centre of Downtown. It was originally called the Husky Tower and was conceived as part of an urban renewal plan and to celebrate Canada’s centennial of 1967. It opened to the public on June 30, 1968 as the tallest structure in Calgary, and the tallest in Canada outside of the CN Tower in Toronto.
Like it’s Ontario Doppelgänger, there’s a glass floor extension on the north side of the tower’s observation deck so you can look straight down on the streets below (in this case on 9^th Avenue South and Centre Street). There’s also a rotating restaurant above and a Calgary Tourism Office (and souvenir) below. $ 17 will get you to the top for a view and for a better price I’d recommend taking a 1.5 hour drive over to Banff.

Yes the view is amazing, The glass bottom floor is fabulous. But the $ 17 admission cost seems a tad pricey. Maybe they could include some sort of tour or film or live presentation?
To pay $ 17 just to ride up in an escalator and walk around an observation deck seems rather a poor value.
