So far so good. A tiny shop on the 1st floor of the building. The selections are limited but very good! First time here so I had to go with my favorites, chocolate and almond croissants. They appear tightly rolled but are quite airy. Very buttery and flavorful despite getting them in the middle of the afternoon. I always say«you get what you pay for» and this place is no exception… the filo dough looks like it’s been layered a million times! Looking forward to trying their other selections!

A Calgary gem if you are looking for good baked goods. The owner is very sincere about not cutting corners and I think that comes through with the flavor. The price might be more than you were expecting but the taste is worth it in my mind.

Best quiche I have ever had and that isn’t even their best menu item. If you are nearby it is definitely worth a stop.

Yummers. I really wasn’t expecting to be carb loading but my nail lady moved upstairs of the Devenish and I was walking along happily until I caught a whiff of this place. The baked goods smell just lures you in and before you know it, you’ve got your nose to the glass, wide eyed and all. Small, friendly and makes you feel really good kind of bakery. I had the spinach quiche, I have to say which was tastier than Bouchon. Hard to do but truthfully, packed full of flavor and was creamy and firm at the same time. I got the blueberry croissant(danish?) to go, and heated it up a day after and it was delicious. Whatever they are using for filling is simply to die for. No complaints on the lemon tart either. Prices are decent, none of the pretentious expensive bs you get at other places, and service is excellent. Will be cashing my paycheck here often.

I cut my thumb pretty badly and it hurts to type but I have to write a review. Bread is FANTASTIC — delicious with some cheese and wine. I bought a chocolate mousse dessert — fantastic. Found out that the pastry chef also makes cakes. Prices are cheaper than if I baked it myself. Sausage roll was delicious, great quality sausage. I’m a fan! Will definitely be a regular stop for me. Must try everything!

Our office has now moved to 17th Ave SW and we just so happen to be right close to the home of Itza Bakeshop, The Devenish. Now, this place supposedly has the best Almond Croissants in the city which was the reason for my visit. When I was in London, every morning I stopped at Paul Bakeries in the Queensway train station for a blend and an almond croissant so I have a pretty good idea about what I am looking for in an almond croissant. We found the bakery despite the lack of street signage and ordered 2 of these $ 2.50 pastries. While they were good, I though this batch might have been a tad overdone. I look for the filling to have a bit more of a moist consistency. Perhaps they’d be better if they were straight from the oven? Their prices seem reasonable. The website could use some work as it is very spartan, although this might be by design. At least an image or two might entice some customers? This being said, it warrants another visit from me.

I come here at least once a week. The almond croissants are perfect. They have a crispy outer layer and a sweet frajipan filling. It’s just sweet enough. Alex, the owner, is friendly, knowledgeable, and very professional. The space is clean, welcoming, and they play good music. I also particularly enjoy the veggie quiche for lunch. I look forward to sitting and chatting with Alex and a friend regularly. Occasionally, she has delicious gourmet sandwiches. On Fridays, she makes the perfect challah bread. her personal banana cream pie and coconut cream pie are also the best ive had
