Sometimes you just want breakfast, and in a city like Calgary where brunch typically includes an hour wait or more, Local 510 was my savior with their Saturday morning brunch. It wasn’t anything fancy, but it was everything that I needed, with absolute no wait time, in a chill, no-kids environment with rather non-abrasive music. Simple omelette, added a bunch of toppings, threw some toast on there. It was exactly what I needed. Also, delicious mimosas! Complaints? Would have liked to see more than 5 items on the menu. I was so hungry and tired of being told to wait an hour that I didn’t really care.

Was not impressed with this place. The food seemed like poor quality pub food. The tables were sticky and dirty, and I would describe the service as lethargic. Don’t think I’ll be coming here anytime soon.

I’ve had a few different things to eat from here and I’ve been really impressed. Apologies if I start drooling on this review! The Spinach Pizza — GARLICALERT! Do not eat this if you’re on a date or need your breath to be within several feet of people for several hours. If you meet the above criteria — Game on! Get it now! I got this garlic wonderland topped with chicken and shoved it in my face without remorse. If you’re ok with veggie only pizzas, it would be great as it is on the menu. Grilled Steak Cobb Salad. — This salad is a serious meal! On the menu it’s listed as «Sirloin, Bacon, Egg, Tomato, Red Onion, Cheddar, Guacamole, Ranch Dressing». Notice how there is actually NO mention of boring stuff like«lettuce»?! While it has a big enough bed of greens to consider it a salad, there’s enough going on on top of it for you to fill up on the good stuff. Happy Hour is Mon — Fri, 3−7pm and they offer Draught(not imports), Hi-Balls and wine for $ 5. It’s a good place for weekday lunch, weekend lunch, or to get rowdy over many pints and meet new people. Word on the street has it this location is under different ownership than the other Local(Insert # here) gastropubs around town. Maybe that means something to you, but this is really the only location I’ve wound up at in a while so I can’t really comment. Also, it shows up on the website along with the other locations so can’t really verify one way of the other. …Well this paragraph got real useless real fast. …The bathroom always seems to smell pretty funky… Sorry Local 510 — just calling it how I see it.(Probably just old sewer issues. They’ve always looked clean and they’re in the basement far away from your food and drink.)

Except maybe for the pizza, great pub food. It tastes like it was made fresh, unlike about 90% of the pubs in this city. Try the chili cheese fries — the chili is made with slow-cooked brisket and has some unique spices. Also try the burger with a fried egg. This place is on 17th Ave, and gets packed with 20 – 30 somethings. I’ve seen some live music in here for Sled Island, and the stage setup is very cramped and awkward. Thankfully they started doing parking lot shows instead.

A decent little pub on 17th Ave, with some outdoor seating. Decent beer selection, but I wouldn’t mind if they expanded their offering a little. Somewhat of a weird crowd… very Hipster-y but also mixed with young guys in suit jackets. It’s an option for a drink when waiting for a table at one of the nearby restaurants, but not a place I would park myself for the night.

This is in my opinion, the best of all the Local locations and it was the first! The space goes up, it goes down, it goes out back and it comes around. Lovely patio, cozy interior and the fact they have bands play here makes it all the better. Get a tall boy, or a pint, and pizza or the mixed fries which are fantastic. Basically sweet potato and McDonalds fries having a party together in a fryer. If It’s good enough for Jason Lee to hang out at, it’s good enough for me: D

The food is not good and the portions are tiny. I’ve never eaten an appy plus an entrée and still felt hungry afterwards. I have a lot of friends that play here for some reason so the music is good; however, their«stage» sucks. Our server was adorable and very friendly so for her, combined with great local music, I give 3 stars! One of the servers once sold bad acid to my boyfriend at a music festival so my only piece of advice to all customers would be to avoid buying acid from the servers.

I love the 510. The food is just great, it has a relaxed and unpretentious atmosphere, it’s oaky and comfortable and just a damn fine place on 17th to chill and get quietly smashed amongst the 20-somethings. Awesome patio in the summertime. I met a local rockstar here and drank several tall boy Pilseners and chatted about everything and nothing at all. Good times brosef.

Got invited to a friends birthday party here and was not disappointed at all. It was very busy but the food, drinks and service was prompt and excellent. We had a great time and will be going back again to try it out solo since we were with a group last time: o)

They weren’t sure if the veggie burgers were vegan or not. Obviously that means they don’t make them in-house(acceptable) or keep a list of the ingredients(unacceptable). After requesting it to be made vegan it came loaded with mayonnaise. Friendly service. This place needs to work on their menu. I bet the old-folks love it though!

Two girls working texted and giggled/gossiped loudly behind the bar the whole time(about sleeping with people) and really neglected the customers, looked super unprofessional. Great atmosphere however, and the beef panini was delicious.

26⁄30 I was a fan of this place before I stepped in, based on their name alone. See, I grew up in the 510 :). Haystack, represent! This was where I tried Steam Whistle for the first time and this is where I’ve been with friends to have deep conversations about absolutely nothing, while people watching. Sitting privy to the embarrassing hilarity of a woman going from patron to patron, asking what«the mod scene means to you.» I also went here on a terribly dull date, and the cheerful atmosphere of 510 was the only thing that kept me from making a really… er, long trip to the bathroom… with my purse and coat. I should try their veggie burger someday. If it isn’t a dry hockey puck-stravaganza that I find in most places, I’ll change the 4 to a 5 :).

A friend suggested that we come here for drinks on a Friday night. Being Thanksgiving weekend I figured things to be moderately dead. Local 510 was rockin’ though. It was packed, but not uncomfortably full. There was a good number of people but you didn’t get jostled around constantly with people trying to get to the bar. The bar staff were great and quick on the pour. The music was good with a DJ stashed in the corner of the bar mixing it up. The music wasn’t crazy loud either which was nice. My friend and I could still have a conversation without having to strain. Nov. 30-day challenge 3⁄30

Talking with fellow Unilocalers I understand that the experience might be different here when it gets busy; however, I really enjoyed my time here. I found myself here on Thursday afternoon coming home from work. I had a BigRock Trad with Sausage Mac and Cheese. The trad was pretty standard, but the mac and cheese was excellent. I enjoyed how it wasn’t too cheesy to allow you enjoy the flavor of the sausage. Unfortunately, it wasn’t cheap at a pricey $ 13+. But the happy hour price of BigRock for $ 5.10(fitting) made the entire meal’s price easier to swallow. That being said you can get similar levels of quality and price for a little cheaper nearby. There really isn’t much signage on this place save the carvings below eye level on the panels that enclose the patio. It’s very easy to walk by the establishment if you aren’t careful. I am a fan of 510 and would recommend it to others.

Used to like this place a lot, but lately food and service have slipped, to the point that i wont even bother going… This used to be our usual after work hang out, and our go-to place for a pub lunch, but over the last year I no longer feel it is worth the money… Maybe if they hire new kitchen staff, or servers who are willing to bring a second pint of beer I may reconsider, but as of now I have received one to many stone cold meals, and waited far too long for a pint of luke warm beer…
