Food is excellent for a pub, I personally prefer to take out as it gets a bit loud for me. Burgers and other sandwiches are awesome. I find that there is a large variance in portion size, sometimes you get great value, other times you’ll get less than half of that amount.

Even by Calgary standards, the lack of options on the menu for vegetarians is really poor, I.e. literally nothing. Well, unless you include fries or a garden salad. Given that this pub is located near to the university it’s even more surprising. Or should I be surprised? No.

Sante fe chicken salad was really good didn’t even need the dressing! Pizza was meh quite bland. Might have been better with less of the flavourless cheese

I’ve never been to Moose McGuire’s or heard anything about the place so I decided to give it a try. When you first walk in you notice the bar has a lot of space, a lot of seating and a lot of TVs(which is awesome). I decided to sit at the bar because their wasn’t anybody there. When I sat at the bar I was greeted by a friendly bartender and she asked if I wanted anything to drink or eat. I decided to order the spicy chicken wrap. It took about 20 minutes to make. It tasted wonderful and was filling. The wrap also came with Blue Cheese dip and fries. The dip was awesome, the fries weren’t cooked all the way. They weren’t crispy and were very soggy. But overall I had a good experience, for a good price! If you’re looking for a pup to go head there for a quick bite!

Delicious food and friendly atmosphere. It can get a bit loud at times, but not to a point where one would have to scream at the person sitting next to them. The service has always been great, they are quick, and quite knowledgeable about the menu. I would highly recommend the burgers and sweet potato fries!

We gravitate to this pub before going to see a Stamps game and tend to forget about it any other time because it shares a parking lot with a couple other nice restaurants and if we are in the area that is where we would go. However a friend suggested we go here for supper before an event so we popped in for a quick bite. It is a touch dark inside, but nothing too bad and lots of tv’s and screens to watch whatever game happens to be on at the time. The prices are ridiculously good and they offer different specials everyday. The food is decent, but this place loses points for service. It’s too bad our waitress was more interested in talking to the guys at another table vs paying attention to the rest of the people in her section. Unfortunately this affected her tip as we tipped for the service we received.

Nice little pub located in the strip mall across 16th Ave from foothills hospital. The food here is really good for it being pub food. Order anything on the menu and it will be good. Looking for a nice big burger. Get the Moose burger. The biggest burger on the menu. The wings are good of that is your speed. The place is usually rocking on stamps home game days. Pre game lots of people stop by for a bite to eat and a few drinks before the game. And most come back after the game to continue the party. Usually including stamps players as well. On Game days. Make sure to say hi to Alex. The door guy. Great friendly guy.

Dimly lit bar with many TVs for sports watching, the food is usually well prepared, with good daily specials. Normal pub grub plus a few Asian items. A few pool tables and an East facing patio. Appealing largely to a university student audience, the best part is that the prices haven’t really changed since 2005.

Just a cheap sports bar. I have definitely experienced better.

No more free peanuts! Back in the day, you would be able to dig into a giant trough filled with peanuts and bring a basket back to your table. That is unfortunately now gone. The food was also kind of disappointing. Their nachos are really big, but do not have a lot of substance to it. Very little cheese, tomatoes, and other toppings you would expect from a $ 10 – 14 plate of nachos. They might as well call it chips and dip. The inside is really dark and could use more lighting. And the lack of windows doesn’t help. What I do like about Moose Maguire are the big projector screens and other TVs scattered around the pub. Its a good spot for watching televised sports.

Meeting at the U ended early and I had a craving for wings. informed us moose’s had wing night on Tuesday. Within walking distance wins it every time. Hot wings had a great smokey but were not spicy enough and the salt and pepper tasted like KFC. Service was all right, a bit hit and miss on the attentiveness… sometimes checking in every minute and then disappearing for half an hour. Did the trick to satisfy my craving. Have fond memories of Moose’s when there were peanut shells all over the floor(10 years ago)? It still looks the same, and the crowd looks like they belong in a neighbourhood bar at happy hour, but Bobo noted most of the entrees are now Asian inspired and one of the apps is 81⁄2 bucks worth of edamame. Weird. It is very dark inside, and it took a minute to adjust and feel safe walking in without bumping in to something. Would have a higher review if we both did not get sick as soon as we got home. Sigh.

We went to meet a bunch of friends at this pub/bar at around 10pm on a Friday night. As we pulled up, I was praying that our friends were not seated out on the patio. It just looked tacky, the patio overhanging into a parking lot not to mention one whiff of cigarette smoke seems to throw off anything I am eating or drinking. We arrived inside and found our already occupied table right away up a few steps at a nice long table. The place is a lot bigger than you would think once inside and quite clean from what I could see(I did not visit the washroom, cannot comment on that). I liked the lighting, dim for the inner vamp in me! 80’s music was the choice this night, TVs everywhere as well. We were starving so we were brought out a menu and were pointed out the late night menu where burgers for the Man were now out of the question. Bummer, and I had wanted a salad. Double boo as we were entering the realm of fried empty calories AKA Wings! The waitress did say they were known for their wings and I asked her what the 2 most popular types were — to this: Hot wings and Salt and Pepper. Those were ordered and out the window went my semi-fave, honey garlic pick. The wings took awhile I thought and the place was not that busy. Other options would have been one sized pizzas, appetizers, the typical potato skins, calamari etc. Drinks were good but NOT cheap as other similar reviews have stated although on a Fri night I am sure nothing is on Special. 2 orders of wings and 5 drinks was $ 63 with tip!!! Yikers! Anyways, the wings were — OK. I have had wayyy better. They were small and my hot wings were sad compared to the salt and pepper ones. Those were still nice and hot from the fryer. What I did not like the most was the small side of the usual carrots and celery that accompany wings I had asked for — $ 4.50 — I thought those would be thrown in. Nope. Also, the dipping sauces are so obviously completely watered down to make their buck stretch. Way too watery and tasteless. I would have to say that if our server had not been so on the ball and friendly I would have given this place a 2 but she saved it. AND my vodka/cranberries had really fresh lemon wedges on it, the freshest I have seen in Calgary to date. That has to be worth a half star right? :) If we were asked to meet friends here again, I am sure we would go but I would never suggest it as a date night place or even a place to go and grab dinner.

The only thing I do not like about Moose McGuire’s is the dim lighting. I can barely see the stairs. Can’t believe I’ve never seen a server wipe out! Food is tasty. Wings are grilled and marinated in this hot teriyaki sauce, so it has a sticky but BBQ crispy taste to it. A dish of edaname was surprisingly a good deal. Huge serving and sweet beans. Burgers are cheap and delicious. Love the burgers — hand down the best one for the money. It taste like a good old American style burger — thick well seasoned patty, lots of cold produce, big squishy bun. The fries are always crisp and fresh out of the fryer.

Chicken on the quesadilla is from a real chicken breast, not sliced bagged frozen mechanically separated chicken, so that’s good. The salsa is fresh, made in-house. Managed to make it back to work on time, perfect. Can’t wait to drink here seems like it would be a good time.
