Bananas! Who runs out of bananas? We have been shopping here for 15 years. I am seriously considering looking elsewhere. Their prices are middle of the road(based on my limited research). Unfortunately, over the last couple years, their produce stock has been neglected. One day, they will be completely out of lettuce. the next day, they will be completely out of bananas. Or brown sugar. At one point last summer they went for a couple months without icing sugar. It was nice last year when they purchased new shopping carts. Carts that were too wide to meet comfortably in their narrow aisles. Yes, I think I will look around for a new place.

Fresh produce. Pricing is decent if you can find sobey deals with sobey rewards. Store is small when busy which is always. Avoid after 9:00pm if you can as the self serve is rarely open past this time. Close to home reason I come here.

I don’t know what it is about Sobeys, but I’m not a fan. Its probably because I’m not the target consumer for their stores which is fine, but for what ever reason my girlfriend likes coming here so I tag along. This is the only grocery store south of 130th Ave so it can get busy. The worst night to come is when they have their big savings day on the first(second?) Tuesday of every month. We hit up the store late on one of these nights to get in on the deals. When we got to the register they were clearly under staffed. It took us about 20 minutes to get through the line which should have been less than 5 if they had even one more cashier working. On other visits the experience has been fine with the worst thing being the crazy shoppers who have to get to the ground beef before you because you might buy them all before they can get their pound for dinner tonight. I’ll stick to Safeway… I know, I know. Sobeys bought Safeway. Shut it.

Sobey’s is great and super convenient. I typically stop here 3 times a week on the way home from work to pick up fresh groceries. The deli is probably the best part of sobers as there are great selections of meats and cheeses. The bakery, produce, meat and grocery departments are pretty good too with a good variety of items at an okay price. The floral dept is small but their flowers are quite nice(atleast thats what my wife tells me). The worst part is the pharmacy which isn’t too large given they don’t actually have a pharmacist so can’t carry a lot of items. The lineups move pretty quick and I like that they have 4 self service tills. Overall, a great grocery store that I don’t hesitate to visit several times a week. 5⁄30

What can I say, Sobeys is Sobeys! Conveniently this Sobeys is close to my house, so I pop in quite frequently. Probably about 4 – 5 times a week. The produce is always very fresh. I know there is a larger chain grocery store that you actually can’t visit on Saturdays because the produce department turns into a hot mess, but that isn’t the case with this Sobeys. I appreciate the staff here, they are pretty efficient and friendly. The younger staff are super unprofessional, talking over the customer with the bag boy, but heck, that was me 10 years ago, I can’t complain. I appreciate the self-serve checkouts during supper hour as that is when Sobeys peaks in business. Make sure you get your Sobeys Card ready when using the self-serve checkouts. They’ll annoy the piss out of you. You have to scan your card in the beginning to continue. So you typically will have people in line watching you frantically shuffle through your wallet looking for that green card because you can’t start scanning without it.(unless you just say you’re not a member, which I BELIEVE won’t affect the prices.) They have recently re-modeled the store which I think works out much better. The seafood and meat department isn’t as big or as helpful as I would like, but they do have great prices on their meats, just not their chicken. This Sobeys is also missing a PHARMACY. So if you need to refill a prescription, or have a question regarding cold remedies, I suggest you hit up REXALL or SHOPPERS just a KM or so away.
