Ten Thousand Villages creates opportunities for artisans in developing countries to earn income by bringing their products and stories to our markets through long-​term, fair trading relationships.

Historique

Fondé en 1984.

Ten Thousand Villages has been around in North America since 1946 and is a founding member of the World Fair Trade Organization. The Ten Thousand Villages store on Crowchild Trail was established in 1984. Established in an old house, the store has a lot of character with three floors of product to explore.

Jason and Niki F.

Manager

Jason and Niki have been managers since May 2011. They come with a wealth of international experience having lived in countries such as Uganda, Northern Ireland, the US and Canada. Niki has a Master’s in International Peace Studies from the Kroc Institute at the University of Notre Dame and Jason is completing a Master’s in Nonprofit Administration from the Mendoza College of Business at the same University. Two assistant managers and over 90 volunteers aid in the work of selling the products and sharing the stories of thousands of artisans from around the world.
