The Mustard Seed

The Mustard Seed is particularly close to my heart. I’ve personally been involved with the homeless for approximately ten years and think the SEED does it particularly well. They have kind, caring staff who work compassionately respond to poverty in Calgary. They work alongside clients to set goals and offer relief to those living on the streets.
The SEED is an oganization i believe in, and I highly recommend getting involved with their important work!

This is a charity close to my heart, and I have been volunteering with them for 12 years now. I had a wonderful teacher in high school that got me involved with current events, human rights and all these along that line. I came here at this time to help volunteer and it was life changing and I kept up with it.
Due to life, I’m not there as often as I used to be, which was once a week in their step-​up program to make supper and hang out with the guys. It was both an emotional and rewarding experience.
A couple years ago I asked my husband, if he would like to tag along and we decided to serve breakfast Xmas morning. He loved in and understood my passion for the organization and cause itself. I am happy to say that we still do volunteer work every Christmas and this year my entire family is going to serve breakfast on Christmas morning.
The organization itself I believe in, as well I know the gentleman who originally started it. They take care of the homeless, ensure they are living healthy, drug free lifestyles and get them back on their feet so that they can return to a normal life. If you ever have some free time, please give back to the community and volunteer your time. A smile can truly make the difference in their lives.

I am a big fan of The Mustard Seed and what they do. I have spent time volunteering here as well I have known others who have done the same.
The people at The Mustard Seed really do have great hearts. They believe in what they do and what they do is help people.
They provide food shelter and all kinds of help to the less fortunate and they do it all with smiles on their faces and a song in their hearts.
If you get a chance, check out some of the stories of the lives that have been changed by The Mustard Seed and I highly recommend getting involved with them. What a great organization!

The Mustard Seed is a testament to Calgary’s volunteerism and goodwill. It has been around for a long time, helping Calgary’s homeless population as best they can. It is a religious organization, but despite that fact most of the people I know have helped them out in one capacity or another. They offer meals, clothing, shelter and affordable housing to people in need, and as we all know it is needed.
They have a lot more services than the ones I just listed, such as counselling and mentoring and day programs. The focus on helping people is so important to this organization and they do so much for the community at large. For its size it is surprisingly well run, and it is always a pleasure to work with them.
I highly recommend volunteering with them in any capacity.
