I actually love this shop. So many curiousities, bookes, statues, trinkets, prayer flags, candles, incense, singing bowls, salt lamps, tibetan sweaters, other cloths, jewelry, I could go on. Prices are ok, if you’re a bargain hunter you will find some items for a lower price elsewhere. But I like to support this shop when I can, the couple that runs it are very sweet and kind and have great customer service. They even wrap up your items in a little re useable cloth bag for purchases of the smaller variety. I enjoy wandering through here every few months to see what they’ve got and to learn something new.

One of the friendliest shops in Calgary. I have bought a number of Tibetan Singing Bowls there. The owners(Tashi and Yangchen) are always eager to help if you are purchasing a bowl for someone else and you don’t know which to get. A wide variety of CDs and books are all available as are jewelry and textile goods.

I have a thing for Tibetan prayer wheels and such, and so I always love to pop into Tibetan Trom. The collection of unique items from Tibet is pretty much irresistible, and I love the wash of colours on the clothes racks at the entrance of the store. The clothes are beautiful and can be fairly expensive considering their quality but they have decent sales. But to be honest, I don’t go for the clothes. I love the buddha statues which are just beautiful, the prayer flags, the gemstones and the jewelry. It all feels unique, and the family that runs the place is just lovely. It’s always worth a peek.

Granted this is a colourful store and I love knits and the very mountainous endearing yet fashionable styles that come from Tibet. It is however very pricey. Tibet mitts, toques, jackets and sweaters, gorgeous radiant earthy colors made to withstand higher altitudes and colder climates. The store also has Tibetan singing bowls and a nice selection of statues. But again overly priced for obvious modern reproductions of Buddha’s… starting at well over the 200 mark. Why not pay a little more for authentic ceremonial pieces at Buhran. The store has a good selection of many things, prayer tablets, pillowcases, lanterns, so if you don’t mind paying for what I know is a huge mark up on all these items but love Tibet then this is your store.
