I see we weren’t the only ones to have a subpar experience. However we bought a social shopper deal 2 nights for the price of 1 including the cooking class dinner. When I made the reservation I told the owner about my fish allergy and gluten intolerance, which she confirmed with me on the day we were headed there when she phoned me. So I think I did what I could to notify them of my allergies — but we got to dinner and saw that the menu was sole stuffed with salmon. The poor chef hadn’t been notified of my allergy and there wasn’t anything else that could be done to accommodate at that point. We were easy going and headed to the local pub for food and came back in time for dessert. The next morning I told Nancy(the owner) about what happened and she was not at all apologetic and instead said, «well the appetizer didn’t have fish. You could’ve had that.» Umm I can’t really be in a room where fish is cooking — I can’t breathe. She even had it written down next to my reservation. Only when I asked if we could be compensated some how for this she said, well I won’t charge you the tax. No apologies for her mistake at all. I wouldn’t have cared to pay the tax, or even if we weren’t compensated if there she had some apology. That attitude really ruined the experience for us. Other than that, we had a great time socializing with the other guests, the breakfasts weren’t bad — home cooked food. There was even a wine & cheese though the cheese ran out in 5 minutes it seemed and we didn’t get any. The room was okay, the hot water was variable, the walls were thin so not a lot of privacy but we enjoyed ourselves other than the mishap with Nancy. The chefs were really nice and friendly and had a lot of passion for what they do. Hopefully the new owners improve the service level. A few upgrades wouldn’t hurt either.

Wouldn’t go back for what they charge! This B&B is up for sale and it certainly appeared that they weren’t putting any money into the little«extras.» If you can get a discount deal through one of the coupon websites, and your expectations aren’t too high, then it might be an okay night away. Looks like it used to be a nice place, but the woman in charge of reservations is quite elderly and is easily confused. She called us 4 times to try and clarify the details on our coupon, and still couldn’t get it right(we bought a 51% off coupon for«a one night stay with breakfast included & cooking class for two»). The chef for the dinner/“cooking class” was very nice(we actually did more chatting and socializing and wine«tasting» than learning), and helped her with the dinner preparation. Dinner turned out excellent, but the B&B accomodations were certainly lacking: no Wi-Fi or computer station; no soap available for the shower(other than a pump hand soap) in the bathroom; no shampoo, etc; bed was very hard; walls are very thin — heard the gentleman in the room next to ours snoring the entire night!; lighting in the bathrooms bordered on dark; toilet paper rolls were on the floor — no holders on the walls; TV was actually a desktop monitor(other guests didn’t even get a TV and weren’t told this); no cream for coffee(only 2% milk — said they couldn’t afford cream(at $ 1.40 for a 250 ml carton) because it would go bad; coffee was subpar; and breakfast was nothing special(a tiny bowl of fruit to start, pancakes, and a single strawberry for what they called the 3rd course). We attended a «2-hour cooking class»(3:30 — 5:30) and with the accomodations, the regular price was $ 329.00. They then attempted to charge us another $ 75.00 because they said that we weren’t entitled to attend the«4-hour» cooking class. Needless to say, we refused to pay this as $ 329.00 was already an exorbitant amount to pay. We were aware that taxes would be still be collected, and we did tip the chef at dinner. The owner then called us «cheap.» Be careful what you are promised. Perhaps this is all part and parcel why it is up for sale?! It certainly put a damper on our 1st anniversary trip.
