Canada Post

Any time I get frustrated with Canada Post (which is rarely… I actually have no beef with our national mail service), I turn to this beautiful, old-​timey post office for a little dose of heart-​warming nostalgia.
Just around the corner from Two If By Sea, which I can’t help but use as a reference point in every single downtown Dartmouth review I write, this gorgeous historic building could give any downtown Halifax landmark a run for its money. But it’s not just a looker…
First off, there’s metered parking on all adjoining streets and even a couple free 20 minute spots right out front for your convenience. Second, the staff working at this outlet are warm, welcoming and truly seem to care about what they do. They’re like Canada Post Classic, before they started shoving apathetic service staff in Shoppers Drug Marts across the province.
Best of all, I have some insider knowledge from the community that I can’t help but share. A local elementary school sends their first-​grader down most years with their hand-​written letters to Santa at the holidays. For some, it’s the first letter they’ve ever written and I just absolutely love that the staff at this Canada Post are always happy to help them send it on its way.
It’s just about enough to melt my cold heart, I tell ya.

First off: Look at this building. Just look at it. It’s an old-​school, classic-​looking post office. It’s an architectural classic!
Sadly, it does not hold some sort of mega-​mail emporium. The actual service area is rather small. And they share the building with other offices too. As for the staff in the service area? Friendly — each and every time I’ve gone!
