What a disappointment! It seemed like the perfect Sunday spot for having leisurely lunch after visiting the Farmer’s Market. As we sat down the server brought us a menu. After a while he showed up to take our orders and it was the last time we saw him. The neighbouring table was also still waiting for their food despite they have been seated before us. We were waiting 45 minutes for two burgers. So, we inquired with another waiter where is the food. The replied was the most unprofessional and arrongant we have ever received in any restaurant«It is a busy place right now, pal.»

I think the Boot is pretty OK in my books — I kinda secretly like their Mexican dishes. However, I’m not sure if I’d recommend this place to anyone lol. There is a ton of room for improvement for this place. Hubby dislikes it here but will begrudgingly agree if it’s a group decision. The food quality is average. The portions are generous. The prices are reasonable/affordable. I usually get the chimichangas or burritos and while they aren’t the best that I’ve had, they’re pretty delicious when you want stereotyped Mexican crap for dinner. I’ve seen their other dishes like burgers, salads, and they’re ok. Pretty sure they don’t make their patties from scratch though. The service can a bit lacking, depending on who you get. Sometimes you’ll get the«weekend worker» who doesn’t give a crap and sometimes you might get someone who is kind of like the waiter with flair from Office Space. Everything said, we haven’t experienced any major issues while dining here(no food poisoning or questionable food, wrong orders, long wait, etc.). It’s also not a place where you’d like to hang out; it’s more of a eat and go place. The décor is a bit cheesy, their stapled on vinyl tablecloths are sticky and worn down, as with everything else. The last couple times we’ve went on a Friday/Saturday night, it wasn’t that busy at all. Hmm, I guess it doesn’t matter if you come or don’t, but if you’re handicapped in Ladner and want Taco Bell, this is your next best bet.

Not quite Mexican, but very interesting place. We were there in the afternoon, but can imagine that the place would be hopping in the evenings. The place is decorated in Southwest kitsch with lots of cheesy posters and signs, but somehow it works. Portions are generous and there is enough variety on the menu to please most people. We had the on site made brisket, not exactly Mexican, some shrimp tacos and the grilled corn salad. It looks like a fun place to have a fun night out… especially in sleepy Ladner.

Ladner deserves better. Strolled into town the other night. Brought the fam for a car ride. Read semi-decent reviews on this place and thought, why not? Friends, Romans, Countrymen: This was a mistake. Now, don’t get me wrong, this place may appeal to a lot of people. Same as Coors Light might. However, if you are a quote/unquote foodie, or enjoy fresh food, or great food, stay away. Started with a ‘double’ lime margarita. Tasted mostly of salt, not lime. Same for wifes Strawberry one. Like oodles of salt. Those who know me, know I am a bit of a tequila drinker/collector, and make my own with just 100% Agave tequila, agave nectar, limes and ice. In this concoction, I could only taste salt, faint lime and almost no tequila, thought it was allegedly a double. Ordered a beef brisket plate. «From the smoker», so said the menu. I just can’t see or taste how it could have come from a smoker. The BBQ Bourbon sauce that was on it, tasted like it was poured out of a jar, yuck. Cornbread was cold, like they keep it in the fridge and take out and cut as needed. Slaw and green beans were ok. I can’t review for my wife or daughter but wife said one of the poorest meals she has had at a restaurant. Also thought the sauce on the enchiladas was poured from a jar and tasted closer to Italian tomato sauce than what it claimed to be. Was too cold for any of us to take our jackets off, crank the heat up guys! Would have given 1 star, but the service from waitress was quick and courteous. Stunningly below average. Owners, if you are reading, quit the cost cutting, turn the heat on, make your margaritas properly and throw out the phony sauces…

Accidentally dining in Ladner, it was a toss up whether to try here or Bombay Joes. We did very well with this choice. Very casual, very relaxed service, almost hayseedesque. Made me nervous at first, but turned out to be perfect for the night. A couple of good appies, potatoes bravas and a great 9 layer salad. It’s certainly not traditional Mexican food… They’ve bumped it up with a heap of TexaCali flair. And, on this Saturday night they had a great band playing great classics. I’ll be back. Bombay Joes will just have to wait.

I went a few years back during the car show and was nonplussed, but returned recently because I was craving some Mexican food… and I’m glad I did! On a summer’s day, mid-week, the patio is a great place to be; quiet, calm, slow, and generally nice. And while the service is alright(they do what they should, but don’t spend much time chatting with you), the food is a sort of comfort food meets Tex-Mex. Also, the prices are fair, and the portions are pretty big, so I’ve never left feeling anything other than satisfied. And suffice to say, I’ve been there a few times since!

Great food, good service. Love the smokehouse smells that greet you when you enter. Lots of Tex in the Tex-Mex! Breakfast Burrito is surprisingly light, the Tortillia soup has a rich tomato base and is quite filling. Love the quesadillas!

I’ve been to this place so many times prior to my Unilocaling obsession. My favorites are by far the Breakfast Hash and the Pulled Pork Sandwich. I got the Quesadilla w/Pulled Pork once and I found it was really tiny and I was still hungry after I ate it. The atmosphere is great, many signs to read and take in. Unfortunately, the last time I was there they seated us in the«Football/TV area» with a rowdy bunch of twenty-sometimes getting wasted on a Sunday afternoon. Really disappointing, I strongly considered moving to another section of the restaurant. It wasn’t like the placed was packed. Otherwise I’ve never had a problem!

A fun place with a casual vibe, good food and decent prices. This is Tex Mex with a bit of creativity. They have the usual favourites, but I was impressed with some of their specials, like the featured quesadilla and soup I had for lunch. The quesadilla had chicken and cranberries, and was delightful. The soup was mushroom and jalepeno, so it had a bit of kick, but not too much. I really enjoyed the texture and flavour of this soup. In addition, they also do Southern BBQ fare. During Canucks games they have a killer burger and beer special for $ 10! The inside is decorated with a splattering of old signs and bric-à-brac, with brightly coloured walls. It’s inviting, and amusing. Some friends and I stopped in with a kid in tow after an afternoon of birding, and we were treated warmly, with excellent service, and they gave us a kid’s menu. Handy if you have ankle biters in your midst. The food was fresh and flavourful, and I especially enjoyed the salsa. There is plenty for vegetarians here, and they are happy to accommodate any dietary restrictions. I think this will be my new after-birding spot to get some grub.

Great place to watch the game — nice family friendly atmosphere! Food is always tasty! A little pricey for the quality — but good — try the fajitas!
